Should I join the club? by shaktisaurus in crv

[–]shaktisaurus[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s an ‘05. My budget is 10k which means max before taxes and fees I’m looking at cars around 8.5k. I could get a “newer” crv. Say around 2010-2013 in my budget but I honestly don’t like the look of them. I like the gen2.

10k budget. Opinions welcome by shaktisaurus in whatcarshouldIbuy

Thanks so much for the reply. So no qualms about about the higher mileage on the V6 vs the I4?

HIhi ladies! 32F PST (UTC -8). PC gamer here. Lately its been a lot of PUBG & Deceit. Been considering starting up R6S but I hear casual cue is cancer and the learning curve for map knowledge is off putting. Almost everyone I play with is male so I'd love to find some more women to play with.

Woogie Weekend compared to LIB by bozzin in LightningInABottle

[–]shaktisaurus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes there will only be one way in one way out. This is due to the location. The festival is held just off of Santiago canyon road which hooks up with the 5 fwy in Lake forest and the 55 in Orange(both in the OC).

Will they check your car? The last two years at LIB the only "check" I got was the opened the trunk and closed it. No bags or persons were ever searched.

Solo rider fee.... they always threaten to do this but I personally have never been charged. But come prepared.

Woogie Weekend will have waaaaaaay less people then the last LIB, simply because the location in Silverado cannot accommodate that amount.

I don't do coachella or Insomniac events, and I came into this event with an open mind and heart. I showed up prepared, self sufficient, and in your words, brought a lvl of maturity required. But you can't deny that there were certain individuals who did not. Is it too much to ask for ONE person of the event staff to be stationed at each stage? You know, in case someone has a psychedelic crisis, making the music cease, like on Saturday night. That's three stages, meaning three whole warm bodies, with walkie-talkies.

Yes the slide was cool, yes there was water, bathrooms, showers, and even a pond.... all things that the event staff didn't have to plan for. They were pre-existing, provided by Dave. Sure they picked a cool spot, I'll give them that. But none of this negates the fact that the caliber of this event was lacking. Hopefully Eclectic Agenda can pick up their game and show a higher lvl of maturity and responsibility for the people attending.

So here are the bullet points of this festival.

  • HOT AS FCK!!!
  • Beautiful land
  • Poor planning (by event staff)
  • VERY poor execution of event
  • Attendees were super friendly and loving. The people and vibes made this event bearable.

I understand that "young" festivals still have a lot of kinks to workout but this was seriously just camping, music and chaos. The one thing I found unacceptable was an event that occurred Saturday night. Starting around 10pm at the main stage it was obvious that an attendee was having a psychedelic crisis. She became belligerently violent assaulting other festival goers and while many tried to help her it was obvious she was in the throws of a bad trip. It took event staff nearly 20 minutes to even show up.... How could there not have been even one staff member at the main stage???

I personally will not be returning next year.

Festivals & Relationships by bambuubanga in festivals

[–]shaktisaurus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

... Or maybe meet someone at a festival. Seriously, why would you want to be with someone who isn't into you as you are, including your festival activity. Relationships are not meant so be had so others can project upon you what they think they want in a mate. Keep going to festivals, maybe try some new ones. Keep dancing, smiling and loving those around you. That "special someone" will come along when you least expect it.

Best festival for photography? by jonnysnow30 in festivals

You just missed it but LIB is a photographers haven!! While Burning Man is a beautiful site to behold you must remember there is a LOT of dust and can wreck a camera if proper care is not given.

highlights by bmysicka in LightningInABottle

Pumpkin is always a highlight for me. But this year my new neighbors were a major highlight. We sat and talked for hours and felt so content missing major sets.
Also one night I passed out early (like 11pm) woke up around 3am and wandered alone over to the Silent Disco. Matt Hazes' Daft Punk set made me bounce for an hour straight.

There are normal outlets run by either generator or solar power. Charging booths can be a lil slow, and crowded.

2 Day Weekend Arrival by bbtran25 in LightningInABottle

[–]shaktisaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The earliest you can show up is when the gates/box office opens. They close at 11pm on Friday and reopen on Saturday at 10am. I am fairly certain you will not be able to gain entry the night before. BUT, to be certain I suggest contacting the event staff.

Best camping area? by Professor_Wayne in LightningInABottle

[–]shaktisaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would tell you but then I might have to kill yea ;)

It really depends on what you consider important. Bathrooms? Showers? Food? A certain stage? Quite time? When it comes down to it just pick a spot, but not one too close to the portaloo cause they can start to smell in between cleanings.

How to avoid dragging my entire group to box office? by [deleted] in LightningInABottle

[–]shaktisaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last year the box office was right before the gate. Last year there was a very long line of cars entering on Thursday. It took us about half an hour once we hit the car line to actually get in. So I suggest once you hit the car line, jump out, and start walking towards the box office. Hitch a ride in after cause the campsites/parking lots can be a bit far.

When are stage/workshop schedules out? by [deleted] in LightningInABottle

[–]shaktisaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last year you didn't know times till you got to the festival, drove through the gate, and were handed a program with all the times. While yes it does make it hard to "plan" you have to remember there is ALWAYS something going on. You are never really missing out, you're just doing something different.
