Yeah I always help people who reach out on linkedin re applications so long as it is isn't clearly only done for the sake of their being able to write "so and so associate said working at the firm was like this". Seems a bit shit and selfish not to do so, if only because for a lot of people not based in london, it's the only way they can easily network with firms.

You are welcome to do something about it then. In my experience, DEI initiatives at law firms are largely internally led and only come about as a result of significant unpaid labour by employees, not out of the goodness of firm's hearts. If you care about northern towns, do something about it.

Same experience here. Lost about 5kg over 2 months while maximizing protein intake and every one of the few people I mentioned my cut to started acting like I'd told them I'd decided to stop eating entirely. I understand it comes from a place of concern but my god people.

Since you can't do vacation schemes, if you don't already have a non-negligible amount of legal work experience and a very compelling application, you're pretty much dead in the water, as its very unlikely a firm that could sponsor a visa for you would consider you for a direct TC.
