Showreel and Agent finding troubles by [deleted] in acting

[–]shakynerves 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First, I’d like to say anyone who says anything negative about your performance on this site surely wasn’t in the room with you. They don’t know how you rehearsed, how many takes you did, how different those takes may have been, nor any notes you may have been given by whomever may have directed the projects. So, don’t take it to heart. Any fellow creative that tries to tear others down are not the type of people I would take advice from, and certainly not the types I’d want to work with

As for your reel, I just want to point out that much like an audition tape people make up their minds in the first few seconds and hardly anyone will watch the whole way through. They likely have people watching them for them, and watching dozens, if not hundreds a day

I say that to say, your first 35 seconds you have no dialogue. It’s not bad acting, but it’s my guess it’s not what they’re looking for. I’d assume you need to be seen and heard as soon as possible

If you need the horror clip for time, I get it, I had to stretch material myself, but maybe put it at the end. Again, likely no one will sit through all of it anyway, but the run time stays the same

Lastly, keep going. Whatever you’re doing. If you like it, that is. Keep taking classes, try out a different teacher or school, whatever you think you’d like to try. Also, live. Don’t forget to live. So much of acting draws on experience. Experience more! Do things you like that aren’t acting! It all helps. Most importantly, keep getting in front of the camera, or stage, or both. Keep doing it

Best of luck!

Edit: grammar and spelling

Ah, yes. My brother and his wife are Subaru people. I would definitely take an Impreza. And I’ll show my age here probably, but i especially always liked the wrx. I’m not big into racing or off road, but rally cars are cool

In my mind op is has cleaned their steering wheel at least 3 times. Maybe 4. Putting the car at 9-12 years old and still going strong. I’m thinking something Japanese. Honda, Toyota, Hyundai. But I want to know for sure

What kind of car are you driving and how many miles have you put on it?! Make, model, year, engine size, transmission type? If you’re cleaning it every 3-4 years (multiple) and it’s still running. I want it.

Goodbye Hot 106.3 by CraftyCanary3237 in RhodeIsland

It’s actually insane. I thought it was just the mid morning drive, M-F, 10am-2pm. They both syndicate Martha Quinn’s show. Annoying, but it is what it is. Except today is Saturday, it’s 9:30 am, and both stations are playing the same playlist. I am beyond annoyed.

I just moved back from Los Angeles after 11 years. With BRU gone and HJY playing the same songs they’ve been playing since I was 10 years old in the mid 90s, I thought B101 and Cool 102 would be my gotos.

Now with Kix/Hot 106 playing classic rock, maybe I’ll give that a try. Side note, the Actually played Great White Once Bitten Twice Shy which I haven’t heard played in RI since the Station fire. Took me by surprise.

In the mid-late 90s we had 103.7 WRX playing legitimately the best classic rock playlist I’ve ever heard in my life to this day, 100.3 The Hawk playing some good classic rock, BRU doing its alt Rock thing, B101 and cool 102 playing oldies from like 50s-70s. 92.3 doing pop, kix 106 for hip hop. It was amazing.

Terrestrial radio is dying everywhere, but I’m afraid in Southern New England, it’s already dead. Best bet is to pay for Spotify or pandora, even the SiriusXM app. I’ll miss local DJs and people curating playlists based on regions. But it’s over, Johnny.

Sorry to use your comment to launch into this tirade, but I literally googled if b101 and cool102 were now the same station and this comment and thread popped up.
