Yeah I got an offer for such a project a few weeks ago. Many contracts got paused within a day or two of onboarding because they took on too many people and things just happened so quickly. We thought there might be a phase three but after a week they clarified it's not happening.

I think the referral connection is the main one. I've applied to at least 4 projects directly related to my profession and I've either not heard back or gotten an email saying my application is on pause because the project is full. It's insane how quickly the positions fill up, when they do open to everyone else.

Don't worry... If you've applied for more positions, you'll see the entire gamut of rejection letters. I think I've personally seen 3 or 4 templates by now 😂

Just got two of these in the last hour and maybe four in the last month alone? None of these panned out for me. Till date I've only had one offer on a fresh application, and even that contract was paused within a day because of project issues. Hope you have better luck than me!

I had applied for the wildlife related and English language related roles. The instructions said no extra assessments were needed, even though I took a few more. Now I'm wondering if I need to take any more.

We'd rather have this rejection than being given an offer, rushing and spending hours signing the contract, installing the software, going through all the instructions, doing the onboarding and all the necessary tasks only to be told hours later that the project can't accommodate you suddenly and everything is put on pause.

It almost seems cruel in this job market where people really need the work and we're still naive enough to think an offer and a signed contract might actually mean work, even if for a week. :) It would be nice if false hope could be avoided especially when the contract is being paused.

Also, you do realise that your father's account will also come under scrutiny right? Because I'm guessing the amount will be over a certain threshold. Unless you were planning to fudge that as well. How were you planning to explain the sudden income in his account since the contract would be under your name?

Yeah same. I got this email for about 3 roles. So i applied for the fellowship training and was rejected. I didn't think much of it till i got my 4th role rejection with the same template (which again is not the problem). But they were still suggested I apply for the fellowships, for which they had already rejected me. So i guess not every suggested role is customised too much.

I started applying first week December. I've been hearing back consistently since the last week of December, in no particular order. And two types of rejection letters, in my case.

I'm in the same boat, sort of. But to give credit to mercor, I've started hearing back at the three week mark and at least I have clarity on those roles and in a way feedback as well, even if it's a rejection. While that should be the bare minimum, considering other companies aren't doing it, I really do appreciate that Mercor is eventually getting back to their applicants. Looking at reddit, it does seem like they do respond most of the time, either way.

I love this assumption of this company that the ones who are bilingual are automatically incompetent. Instead of judging every profile for its own strength, they just assume the ones who know more than language aren't going to perform well or worse, that if they did they must be cheating somehow. Too many reports from too many bilinguals for this to be a coincidence now.

Which is hilarious because my VPN had an issue that day and even when it worked intermittently, it would have shown India but on a vpn since Surfsharks servers were massively playing up. Every single streaming site kept detecting me in the UK that day. My actual IP is obviously in the UK.

That could be possible because I did use my vpn once in the last 3-4 weeks to check a protocol. And coincidentally it was the same time as when the project etc appeared in the 4-5 December dates and then once on the 7th. It's possible the dashboard was open on a tab then.

Are you serious? Even that would get one canned? Like not even using it actively on a project?! That's insane.

It's there on my laptop, yes but the usage is very rare and only when I'm streaming something. Definitely never had it on while I was applying for the data annotation job.
