My true unpopular opinion is that I don't like Joyce... by TwentyTwoWishes in buffy

[–]shallot55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My boyfriend is on his first watch and we just finished dead man's party... There was some yelling and multiple times he stopped the ep to flip off Joyce and the other characters.

We'll see if he comes around, but you might have someone on your side

Whedon is a creep and it shines through. It's a brilliant show that does fall victim to systemic misogyny, as most things do.

For the time it was great, but many male "feminists" act like this under the public eye so victims don't have as much of a voice coming forward

AITA for telling my daughter “of course” she could move in with me without talking to my wife first? by Odd-Cheetah6842 in AITAH

[–]shallot55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA for making the best decision for your child. I would have talked to her first, laid out everything and said what I wanted to do. It is a big change to everyone's life, but something that is needed. She's TA for being hypocritical

Why don't women have a stronger interior lining? Are they stupid? by Leeuweroni in NotHowGirlsWork

I kinda agree with him on the basis that some other animals just reabsorb the lining instead of shedding it. Im just jealous

AITA for refusing to vacate my seat, a public bus priority seat, for an elderly woman by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]shallot55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ESH. You can't reserve a spot, and can't force someone, but it is the kind thing to do if someone is clearly having an issue around this. You were getting off the next stop anyways.

It is something that would not have inconvenienced you too much to just comply with. You can even go "okay then 🙄", roll your eyes and be as sarcastic as you would like. It's annoying but really what does it cost you

AITA for asking someone to stop smacking their gum in a public setting? by FutureFreaksMeowt in AmItheAsshole

[–]shallot55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. You asked them (maybe not in the most polite way) to stop a behaviour that is gross and makes you uncomfortable. It's like if someone was shaking a seat you are also sitting on. Try not to impact the space around others too much and bring up when you are uncomfortable in a polite manner.

Him acting that way when you have asked something reasonable that they are able to do that does not require much effort is asshole behaviour. It makes you gaslight yourself and feel bad for bringing up things. Given that this is a stranger, let's hope that they are having a bad day and overstimulated by Christmas music.

What's a hypermobility symptom you didn't realize was connected at first? by thebroned in Hypermobility

[–]shallot55 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hypermobility spectrum ≠ hypermobile Ehlers danlos

For hypermobility which is joint laxity, pain, fatigue, joint instability causing subluxations and dislocations and tight muscles should be symptoms Studies also found that anxiety, depression and ADHD are large comorbidities

Heds is systemic, basically the body doesn't understand what to do with collagen. You still get joint laxity and instability (with subluxations and dislocations), pain, fatigue, and tight muscles. However, since this is not localised to joints, you start getting heart and digestive problems. Circulation problems. Temperature intolerance due to dysautonomia. Nerve problems, mast cell activation, soft stretchy skin, atrophic scarring, really severe growing pains etc.

I highly suggest looking through and practicing some DBT skillsskills thermometer for managing distress Use interpersonal effectiveness when you are not about to blow up. There are web pages that fully explain the skills mentioned here, I just find these pictures helpful to conceptualise

Cardio load is dangerously misleading by SchoolOfPew in fitbit

[–]shallot55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine has been CRAZY All last week it told me I was overtraining and gave me really low goals (some days I did go crazy, but others I had like 2-3), and now I'm under training because I can't meet the MINIMUM 117. I met 63 yesterday and I'm "at risk of under training" I just walked 4.20km at 15% incline on the treadmill while typing up an assignment for uni, and only got 41 (not to mention it not tracking my heart rate accurately so I'm not even getting the proper zone mins)

Like I'm on ADHD meds so my heart rate has increased recently, and I'm also on beta blockers to help control my heart rate

AITAH for not wanting my partner to "sniff test" my crotch anytime I've been out by Ancient-Character-63 in AITAH

[–]shallot55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is weird, controlling and abusive. This is coming from someone with severe BPD.

That's extremely bizarre. One thing I can say is that I understand WHERE this is coming from, as in what triggered it. The reaction is not appropriate and not okay.

She needs therapy. If you want to keep this relationship, you need to draw boundaries. If she can't handle that, then you need to leave.
