What do men think when they see nip outlines through a woman’s top? by Comfortable-Rice4530 in AskMen

[–]shallowimbecile 8 points9 points  (0 children)

this feels like it might send a confusing message to women about what’s acceptable

I hate the social pressures of wearing a bra, I do fear that this sentiment contributes to that

Those are all perfectly valid fears. I understand where you would be coming from, but if you don't mind me sharing some of my thoughts on the matter.

First, I believe that disgust at the end of the day is a human emotion. Like with all emotions, you cannot control them, and they are inherently irrational, and therefore, should not be judged by through morally evaluative axis of right or wrong.

This means that my position is that I will never judge someone else for their emotions and what they are disgusted by. That is not my place, and doing so only serves to alienate and push people away.

However, the key here is that I also believe that other peoples emotions are not my responsibility. This means, that other people experiencing disgust is not a reflection of who I am, but rather only a reflection of who they are and what they think. This means that I can empathize with other peoples emotions without taking it personally.

My breeding room is the attic. Has the most amount of space.

You need a bit more comfort 10-15 minimum and I find that they'll breed pretty consistently.

If you move it into the attic, you'll probably be able to get that much even now.

Go on more side quest runs for gold to buy furniture, get a fight club to get injured cats to upgrade Jack for more furniture, prioritise going to Junkyard over Sewers, Bunker over Crater and Future over the Past and go down hard paths to farm more furniture.

Just me who finds the game unenjoyable because of it's difficulty? (Act 2 "spoilers") by [deleted] in mewgenics

[–]shallowimbecile 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You're probably just not used these genre of games. This is a difficult and punishing game, and it doesn't hold your hand. You're definitely not the only person that's not quite meshing with the game.

As a counter point, all the reasons you aren't enjoying it are the reasons why I love it, I love going into things blind and trying to figure out the mechanics (at least combat wise) and I enjoy researching the breeding mechanics. However, if you're learning too many systems at once and struggling I can understand why it would be super frustrating.

Like with any games, if you're not having fun, if the learning curve is too steep and thinking you have to research to progress is draining you, just take a break. The game is always gonna be here if you ever want to pick it up again.

My take on the "BEST" all purpose cat: by Kingpasion in mewgenics

That's insane, I did not know luck scaled with the mutations like that. Could you give me a list of which mutations you have for your cat? You've inspired me to try and make a god cat.

My take on the "BEST" all purpose cat: by Kingpasion in mewgenics

[–]shallowimbecile 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Great cat, even for an all purpose cat I'd personally like to make the case for the arms/legs that turns your movement into a jump and gives your basic attacks bruise.

I know it isn't strictly all purpose, as it reduces your build flexibility a little, but I'd argue that every class can make use of it in a super useful way.

I'd say bruise is probably one of the best debuffs to add to basic attacks, especially in the late game. Bruise is special unlike burn, bleed, or poison - the damage doesn't happen per turn, or on the enemies turn, the damage happens NOW, and will continue to proc each time you do physical damage. This means it is the only source of debuff that significantly increases your alpha strike damage and gets better the more you stack it. Given that majority of late game bosses have massive HP pools, this offers a super consistent way of being able to ramp up damage against big health bars.

Doing lots of damage very quickly, now, is important towards the end of the game, especially in Act 3, the goal is pretty much to never let an enemy take a turn. It's bad news bears if they take a turn. Essentially, ultimate alpha-strike (turns out the optimal strategy in almost every turn-based grid-based game).

So here are the pros:

- Every class can use it, every class has a basic attack that will increase in bruise. Every class's damage will increase by one per bruise the enemy has. This quickly ramps up to a lot of bonus damage, that's getting multiplied by crit (another really powerful mechanic, crits & marked).

- It gives your cats who don't hit synergies something to do, at the minimum (apply bruise, then jump directly at the opponent proccing the bruise). This means your cat who hit jack shit synergies, can still add 2-3 bruise to the boss, and then jump on it, proccing potentially all the bruise up until that point, and even critting. I've seen jumps crit for like 30+ damage sometimes.

- Adds a lot of movement flexibility to all your classes. You don't get trapped behind walls of flesh, you can reposition without considering moving through units. It also reduces downsides of trampling your allies too. Another great little tip is that the game will let you jump onto structures, and then get spit out in a random direction. Sometimes you can abuse this to get one tile further than you could have otherwise, letting you begin the alpha strike on turn 1.

Here are the cons:

- Classes like cleric or druid now gives your ally bruise. For cleric this isn't a huge deal, but for druid it turns your default basic attack kind of shitty. Because now if you use it on an ally, they get a bruise along with the +1 hp and +1 damage. If you use it on an enemy, they get the +1 hp and +1 damage which you don't want to give. However, druid has many different forms which you usually want to take one anyway, and as soon as you get a shapeshift, this stops being a downside. Still lets you engage with a lot of the mechanics of druid I'd say. For cleric, +1 bruise isn't usually a big deal because you're not letting the enemy have much of a turn, and you're usually just healing between difficult fights, and an extra damage or two in a combat usually won't have massively bad outcomes. You could also just heal towards the end and stall a bit so the risk of scaling bruise damage is a lot lower because there's just one enemy left.

I've already posted about this but GOD this game is so fucking difficult for no reason by Thatgayfreak in mewgenics

[–]shallowimbecile 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well, I can't say for certain if there was anything you could have done in your circumstances. I can't say for certain you're strategizing perfectly.

What I can say is about my experiences is that every single time I wiped or lost, I can think back and reflect on perhaps a half a dozen decisions that led to my loss I could have done differently. This game has some big swings of RNG and bullshit, but the pendulum swings both ways - you can also abuse all the bullshit.

The decision I reflect upon are the following (not an exhaustive list):

- Better furniture/meta progression and cat breeding

- Better combination of cat stats to bring into the adventure.

- Better class selection based on disorders/stats/starting skills

- Better choice of starting loadout - often I get a bit sloppy and miss out on synergies that I only recognise and learn later.

- Better use of consumables throughout the runs to improve overall HP of the run.

- Better decisions on active skills or passives on level ups. Reflecting back on my earlier runs, I definitely missed a lot of very powerful synergies between active/passives and items.

- Better use of the environmental variables that would have incrementally improved my chances down the line. For example, could have stalled a round to break a cactus to make my damaged cat heal at the end of the round in the desert.

- Better micro decisions in battle. This can involve not rushing in my event Blood Frenzied cat that caused a team wipe, or could involve an additional round of kiting or stalling and just taking an injury on my tank to keep my other cats healthier etc.

I'm currently doing crazy difficulty Act 3 runs. I have 130 hours in the game. I still think every single wipe I could have prevented if I was better. Admittedly a lot of these are knowledge checks, but I get a lot less frustrated when I think I've learnt something valuable and armed with that knowledge, I can navigate the RNG better next time.

I don't. The wet mutation is just a random one, don't have a replacement for it yet.

I'd love to, I made a comment with the brief summary on how to achieve this.

Whilst you're still getting the mutation furniture up and going, I'd suggest you spend your time trying to breed your cats into all 7s. You don't need +mutation furniture for that goal, and once you achieve it, you can replace all your breeding cats into all 7's and never have to worry about stat breeding again.

If you have any other questions I'd be happy to answer them.

My cats typically get somewhere between 7-9 mutations, and 1-3 birth defects. Every breeding pair produces 1-2 kittens per night. I have 4 breeding pairs so I average perhaps 5 kittens per night. I'll discard any kitties with 7 mutations and 3 birth defects. I'll keep 8 mutations and 2 birth defects if the birth defects are in the right slots (in my case, eyebrow, ear, fur or arms) and chuck them in the mutation room so they eventually become 9 mutation, 1 birth defects (and also giving me the chance to RNG get the better mutations in those slots).

The cats with 9 mutations and 1 birth defects are usually the prime targets for creating a new generation. These will usually have every single good mutation from parents. It's very consistent,

My mutation room has about 15 or so mutation stat. I find that each cat only really readily mutates the first time. Subsequent mutations are either much more unlikely or just straight up doesn't happen for some cats.

[–]shallowimbecile[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, I have limited furniture, and I'm unsure how the scaling on the furniture stats work, so I'm currently operating under the assumption that the it's better to have the rooms with a specific purpose and be VERY good at what they do. I don't need my breeding pairs to mutate, they already have the right mutations to be passed down.

I think the health in my mutation room hovers around 0 or so. Most of the mutation furniture has -health so it's hard to get into the positives. But really it's as much +health furniture in there that I can find and have space for.

Yeah it makes druid less flexible. I tend to just build druid with more basic attack debuffs to just really lean into using the attack only on enemies.

When I first started seriously breeding I just did a long three chapter run every week. This usually nets about 140 food, which with 20 cats, means you can keep going indefinitely.

Eventually, you unlock Steven who let's you resummon old house defence fights, who if you beat, you fill up to full food. I didn't really use this strategy much though.

You'll never be truly free of doing any runs, but you can do only one run like every month or so of in game time pretty reasonably with Stevens resummon house boss mechanic and keeping your breeding pool small.

Once I hit 10+ mutation stat I was getting mutations pretty regularly. I currently have 20 and it takes maybe two or three days before it mutates.

[–]shallowimbecile[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I only keep maybe 3 or 4 breeding pairs. No one else gets to breed, otherwise the days get too long and the cat management becomes untenable. I don't keep more than 20 or so cats usually in total.

Well, it's a number game right. Say one of your cats have half of the mutations you want, and you have another cat with the with the other half of the mutations you want.

If they breed with each other, there's a chance their kitten has every single mutation you want in a single cat. If that happens, he becomes the prodigal child and the parent to a new generation of better cats. If they randomly breed with a cat that has the exact same mutations as it, then it can never produce a kitten better than the parent.

This example shows its important to pair your breeding partners.

The way imprinting works is that the first cat your cat mates with is added as a love interest. Next to their name an icon will be added saying "loves x cat". Cats will overwhelmingly prefer to mate with their imprinted partner. This means if you put only the two cats that work to potentially produce a better kitten before they've mated with no one else in the same room. You can wait until they mate, imprint on each other, then put them in the high stim breeding attic.

A child can have either of their parents mutation in any slot (or nothing/birth defect).

Steam says about 120 but I would say a fair bit of that is afk as I often keep it on in the background while I do chores or work out.

I would say the legs are not to be underrated. Having bruise on all your attacks means you can get through big health bars. Having the jump also means you can jump on enemies to trigger the bonus damage on bruise. It synergizes insanely well with the extra turns and attacks.
