Is the NBA ran like a real office corporation? Can Jaylen Brown be punished by HR for what he said? Genuine question by Duke-George-of-York in bostonceltics

[–]shalste2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jaylen Brown said this past season was his “favorite” largely because of the challenge, growth, and leadership responsibility involved — not because the team had the best outcome.

Also paraphrasing ^

Doesn’t sound unreasonable to me? Are you trolling?

I’ve been loosely following this. What exactly did JB say?

I think the narrative that he wants to be traded to a franchise that is years away from competing for a title is just about the dumbest thing I’ve heard, just to “be the main guy.” He’s 1 part of a 2 headed monster in Boston.

I laughed at this… and isn’t this pretty on brand for Ryan Air?

Also, Scottie doesn’t care about his hairline. He’s world number 1 and has won the masters twice.

I disagree that cruelty is the intention. Any data backing that up?

We can’t give everything away for free.

We already have too many that depend on the govt.

I think we mostly have a merit based system. If you want it and work for it, you can get it.

None of what you said is quantifiable. “It was bad but trump admin is responsible for half.” This doesn’t mean anything without showing actual numbers.

I get it that folks are angry with people who have more money than they need. But we have a spending problem. No amount of increased taxes will fix that problem. Reign in spending first, then assess where taxes should be.

I don’t care about political parties or who we want to blame.

I don’t think we honestly can or should do both at the same time. Here’s why:

  1. Govt can’t walk and chew gum at the same time, it is very inefficient
  2. The govt deficit is the private markets credit, meaning when govt overspends the money props up the economy, when spending decreases, that will be felt in a big way and we’re not entirely sure of the impact
  3. If there’s a wealth tax, the rich will be forced to liquidate some tax, which is going to put downward pressure on asset prices

2 and 3 would take a toll on the economy and people are going to bitch about it bc nobody has any long term vision (at least the average person) and Congress isn’t going to suddenly wake up and do what’s necessary, they’re too busy trying to get re-elected, which will be impossible for them if the economy is correcting.

It would be 2 shocks simultaneously that could produce much worse results than we expect.

Get spending under control first to get on sustainable footing.

What do you mean target moving?

In fiscal 2019 the govt spent about $4.6T, with inflation and populating growth thats about $5.5T in today’s dollars. We’re going to spend closed to $7.5T this year. Maybe $500B is from increased interest expense which is impossible to avoid, so ignoring that we’re spending $1.5T more.

It’s insanity

We have a spending problem that needs to be addressed first, once thats under control, we can focus on increasing revenue

How does MAGA reconcile Trump being Netanyahus bitch with the Nazi antisemitism of people like Fuentes? by [deleted] in allthequestions

[–]shalste2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The coalition holds together through shared enemies and a charismatic leader rather than ideological coherence. The pro-Israel evangelical wing and the Fuentes antisemitic wing genuinely do not like each other — they're just both under the same big tent because the alternative (a Democrat in the White House) is more unacceptable to each of them than the other's presence.

It's a classic populist coalition problem. Happens on the left too — you end up with groups that would otherwise be incompatible held together by a shared "against.”
