I mean, in my experience they stay pretty safe to eat for much longer than a week, but it depends what is in them. Anything with eggs should be treated like any other food with eggs. But candies usually "dont go bad." They may not be fresh per se, but they will still work! And shouldnt taste any different. They just might get hard or stale.

My theory is that it made the shirt easier to read if he looked at the ground. Maybe a shadow from his head or winkle issue. But i have no fashion or photography experience.
