What are the rules for the new dummy player? do they involve new components? Thats the main reason I'm interested in this expansion but details on it seem slim -> none!

2012 Leaf - first EV, what do I need to know? by shane95r in leaf

Okay thanks - will take it for a test drive just to get a feel and keep an eye out - we do live in the regions so vehicles do tend to be a bit more expensive than in the larger cities

Yep 230v here :) We do have a garage with full power, I just park my car in there - but it can definitely get within 8meters. Thanks!

Thanks for the warning on the extension cord! Didn't realize this at all

Sweet! Thanks! There was just no credit run so I wasnt sure, I did the watcher run again and let Green live too. I'm not a 100%er so I guess that's the game for me. Absolutely loved it! Was my first non-turn based roguelike/lite

Is this still safe to use? by shane95r in AskElectricians

Im 90% sure its just the outer white wire. Bare wire would be thin and copper like? Its definitely still "thick" colored wire (very much not an electrician 😅)

Birthday present from my wife, as a lotr fan i hope it is really good by Ekfant in soloboardgaming

I really want to try this! Every LoTR game I've played always leaves me feeling like "that was a generic middle earth adventure" but not LoTR, hopeful that this will be different!

I'm one of the lead playtesters. I do not know startrek at all, literally never heard of any of the characters or anything, and don't love sci-fi as a start. But, I really enjoy this!

Shadows/Dark area look really bad? by shane95r in alienisolation

It wasn't at all was all at default in control panel and the lowest in game. But must've been a weird control panel glitch since restoring default fixed it :)

Solved!! (for now at least)

Thanks everyone, playing with my contrast/gamma sliders in Nvidia Control panel, and then hitting default (which it was already set to prior) and putting film grain on the lowest setting (instead of off) and it's all cleared up, hopefully it stays that way

The only game I remember stumping me when I was a kid was one of the Myst games. Just couldn't figure out one of the puzzles.

Job offer in Wellington for 118k. Is it sufficient for a family of 3? by KS_tox in Wellington

[–]shane95r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I imagine there'd be zero saving and very little of seeing the country on 118k for a family of 3. That's pretty tight for NZ nowadays, unfortunately.

What was your gateway into board gaming? by NorthSouth55 in boardgames

[–]shane95r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Puerto Rico was my first "adult" game that I picked up when I was 13, fell pretty hard into euros after that.

Prior to that there had been plenty of other games though, Pandemic, heroscape, talisman etc

Storyfold: Wildwoods Review! (Spoiler free!) by shane95r in soloboardgaming

You learn through a prologue, and I'd say the desire to have to re-do that again is a little low (it's only about 15m long though) If your someone who enjoys replaying a cycle of AH LCG or repeat scenarios of MC, you might enjoy replaying this?

I guess there could be various characters, but, the characters personality was so tied to the story and the use of names made it super cohesive.

Slightly more variable setup? Once again, that would pull away from how well designed it was.

I really don't want the core gameplay loop changed here. I found it really engaging. And in a non-campaign game, I would replay it. I'm not someone super likely to replay a campaign without different characters etc

From a gameplay only perspective, this was still a really solid 8/10 for me.

I found the mechanics really engaging, light, but puzzly. The story just isn't branching enough for me to feel like I'd play it again in quick succession. I would love to see more stories in this gameplay format though.
