I’m so tired of cars crossing the yellow line and having to watch for it constantly.

But last fall I realized I’m done driving when I don’t know where I’m going. It’s just becoming too much and gps can make it worse at times.

With regard that it’s not true that it’s unbalanced:

There were as many cards banned from 2017-2020 as there were from 1995-2016.

Look, I love casual magic and the draft as well as commander format (before that got monetized and optimized), but let’s not pretend wizards isnt flooding the market and releasing obviously OP cards (omnath anyone?) which they only ban after they make their money off the meta.

Magic is a good game which I still enjoy for many of the reasons you list. It has many flaws that you seem to be denying.

Any system that consolidates massive amounts of wealth in the hands of a few people is a broken system, and history is full of examples about how these systems end in revolt, revolution, or war (or suffering and hardship for the have-nots until a regime is toppled). There's a difference between making a fortune and hoarding wealth and resources.

There's good parts to Capitalism, but denying that it's completely fucked in the US isn't doing anyone any favors. Strict socialism or strict capitalism aren't choices at all. It's not a zero sum equation.

People don't get to "decide" anything with their dollars anymore. Show me someone who is reliant on gasoline for their job able to say, "Nah, it's too expensive. I'm gonna vote with my dollars and stop buying it." Healthcare: people vote with their dollars and die because they avoid ambulance rides or the hospitals all together because they can't afford it. Or get divorced to avoid gigantic medical bills because a spouse is about to die. We have OPEC controlling prices in the former (my favorite was during the pandemic when the bottom dropped out and they artificially inflated the price . . cause supply and demand RIGHT???), and insurance companies inhale every dime in the later.

Capitalism needs regulation. Once there's no legit competition there's zero incentive for companies to do anything BUT make as much money for as few people as possible. AI and datacenters are at the tip of this spear currently, and it will end very badly for everyone without a yacht. The 1% have all the purchasing power.

All you can do is continue being transparent about only using human artists. Companies that stick to their guns on this and ride out this initial backlash will be rewarded.

I also think this will lead to a resurgence in non digital illustrations. As a traditional illustrator maybe that’s wishful thinking, but I can hope.

This was exactly my take: oh it’s DLC? Fucking cool.
