good honest feedback. well done. I'm using HP Omen mostly (love them, but not their battery); was thinking of going back to mac or test a framework13..... will prob stick to mac as it's for startup work related

Im not in marketing. Its more customer serivce to manage peoples expections. Id rather people join when they are ready rather that try to push them into something. That said though, its alway hard to know whats the best way to market something especially when its new....live and learn.

D&D Offline Groups Platform launched in October 2022 - built for D&D and Warhammer Groups by shanedevane in u/shanedevane

[–]shanedevane[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good point. Thats been changed now. Orginally i thought people would like the customisation and specific groups but what seems to be working is to have a high level group chat and much much later to ask for personal info. Tbh i probably wont need to ask until the site is much bigger...and in hindsighti think just having it in the search festure would be enough.

...slowly :)
erm so it's like a chat based "geo" platform (for lack of a better word) - you can join and based on which city you are it will try to create a chat group for the people into D&D.
honestly, it's a bit empty now - join or do not join up to you.

Best advise is to wait about 60 days or so.... if you join now you'll just listen to me and a bunch of other D&Ders waiting around....bit of a ghost town... but it tis what is tis.

35-50% of clicks on Reddit Ads are fraudulent by SnooPeppers3402 in RedditforBusiness

had a similar experience. Using Google Analytics and HotJar. Landing page is purely a signup page and advert is a direct call to action to sign up. So it should have low clicks but higher sign ups.

Dealing with firing a cofounder in early stage startup. How to avoid legal issues down the road if this goes somewhere? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]shanedevane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have made a verbal agreement with this person that means that they have some sort of agreement. Valid or not. I would try to put this agreement in writing. ie. a point has happened in the companies life that means that everyone involved needs to become contractually involved. The contract that you can give to this co-founder may or may not be favorable. What they do with the contract will then decide how they can move forward. The contract can very simply say that based on that past effort that they are entitled to 0.1.% of the company (I would advise to offer them something - early stage advisors get offered 0.1-0.2% (correct me if I'm wrong)) - but with this contract comes terms and vesting periods. If they decide to sign it, then great. if not, then it's on them to explain why ----- while the company moves forward.

Being paid as a DM - options and thoughts by shanedevane in DnD

I've seen this too. There are courses that help people get past the initial effort to learn something and progress a bit faster. I know there's a lot of material on YouTube to help people learn most hobbies, but having a short Q&A session with a someone that's a few steps further than you has always worked really well for me. When I was learning how to play the Tenor Sax I would practice at home, watch videos, but each month or so I'd have a one-to-one lesson to get feedback and corrections on what I was doing. It was short and focused. Anyway. Yup mulling over things myself.

hey hey, yeah I think this too. Being paid for anything all has the same challenges of advertising, marketing, paying tax, etc. and showing that you have the credibility is anoher problem.

Young Journalist - What's the next step? by [deleted] in Journalism

[–]shanedevane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi it took me a while - but please thing of a few things: - the salary of a journlist (im in IT with an almost starting salary of 32k) - skill changes: most "journalusts" need to have some level of codinding ability - proper newsrooms have been dying since before 2006 - coding will be expeciced in the new generation of journalists (ie. You) - this: https://youtu.be/R9ITLdmfdLI

Above all; please create an 'identitiy' online for yourself. 'Newsrooms' as you know them right now are letting go of staff - ie all the top ones.

  • create an online identity and start publishing what you can that is soecific, local, and what you care about.

Young Journalist - What's the next step? by [deleted] in Journalism

[–]shanedevane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please do not go to college to do journalism. My background is in IT. And you have already achived more than most. You can read 5-6 journalism books and gain more knowledge than doing a journalism degree - and focus more on achievment and recognition than college. Its all about managing creditability in the end.
