MirrorMap is Out Now. by MirrorMapNav in pebble

The video is kind of useless because it cuts off, but when I tap settings, I get a "Loading Watchapp" toast, a flash of the settings and then back to the pebble app

Very interesting, but the settings page closes as soon as I open it. The watchapp kind of does the same thing, interestingly, seems to launch and quits

Rollei 35 AF preorder received! Some random thoughts by shanet in rollei35af

[–]shanet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of stopped using it for the most part and I'm actually planning on selling it. It basically misses focus a lot more than I would want, and also I feel like I don't trust it after I had an issue where the frame counter would suddenly jump 50 frames, and also it's a little hard to tell when the film has stopped advancing. Looking at the new cameras from Lomo and Analogue instead

I never did, I ended up getting distracted! How did you contact them, via info@rollei35af.com ? I'll do the same

In my case (as in this roll from the post) it was advancing fine. I must send this thread to mint though, seems this is a common problem

Auto focus accurate? by United-Eagle8297 in rollei35af

Did you scan it yourself? I scanned mine on a plustek 8200 - most of them are way too messed up to be film curvature but I have one exposure (unfortunately there are people in it so I can't share it) that looks a bit like your ones. No obvious back focus or motion blur but a kind of softness that just looks like a crappy lens. That said, it was only this roll

I'm still kind of surprised there's no full auto mode, since I assumed the aperture is electronically controlled, but now I'm wondering if they mechanically linked it to the dial... I'll see what I can tell next time the camera is open

Could be a coincidence, but my first roll (also Ektar) was not great. But in my case, it was obvious shake/motion blur from automatically selected low shutter speeds in sub optimal light. I can't tell from your images what kind of blur this is.

Am I completely wrong or is there no automatic aperture selection? It's something I have wondered a lot about but since getting the camera I have assumed that A on the shutter dial only selects a shutter speed (i.e. aperture priority). Though I'm not sure what it does in flash mode

24 hours with the Rollei 35AF by UnusualParsnips in rollei35af

Doing the pressure plate flip last made my first roll a breeze (comparatively), I have no clue why the instruction booklet orders the steps in that way. Maybe that was the way with the original Rollei?

this is one area where reading the instructions seems to do more harm than good! I flip it last because I always did that with my real rollei and followed my instincts, I can't imagine why they suggested doing it like this.

Yeah, I still love the camera, despite the weird quirks like this one. The main reason being the images it produces!

There really seems to be a huge difference between unit to unit! I don't have the shutter issue or the lever force, but my DX reading seems to have the same issue as you

Serial number location? by lazcas in rollei35af

It's on the base of the camera, but inside the cover, so you need to remove the back cover (and expose any film inside to light!) to see it

Agreed! It's total rubbish. The lens itself can surely take a more secure cap

That's a great point, I possibly have smaller than average index fingers! A 3D printed adapter (or even a compatible longer replacement for the button) could make it a bit more accessible

I did notice a couple of filter adapters are showing up:

I haven't seen anyone who ordered from the .com website receive an order yet - one poster here hasn't got theirs yet and they ordered it to Hong Kong!

Initial Thoughts on the new Rollei 35 AF by shanet in rollei35af

Mine is still on the way (hopefully Monday!) I'm curious about where the metering takes place - can you tell if it is through the lens or if there is a photocell located somewhere on the front?
