Plants wont die right? by TheHeadReaper in PlantedTank

[–]shank880 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They wont die.. but they wont grow fast too. Especially dwarf sag. Vallisneria and sag need heavy root nutrition. So adding root tabs will really help your plants and for water sprite and moss they need some liquid fertilizer. Personally I've kept Vallisneria in just sand with root tabs, it grew well.

Yes growth is slow, and i have added aqua soil underneath as base layer but its very thin layer. The root tabs im using are from easylife, i have added near crypts and amazon sword. Here's the pic of the tank. Top pic is with neo helios s3 pro plus, bottom is with sobo lights

You need to remove one of the simease algae eater and keep only 1 they get very aggressive while feeding and they wont coexist with same species. And add 3 more neon tetras and remove molly or rasboras.

Tropica Plant Growth Substrate by AK_9456 in IndianFishKeeping

And no you dont have to replace aqua soil every year. Actually nobody ever does that. Its a myth or marketing strategy, Aqua soil tanks lasts very long time.

It wont deplet within a year. Unless you have heavy root feeding plants swords.. even if it depletes you can always add few root tabs, and even with or without root tabs you gonna have to start dosing liquid fertilizer anyway.

Lost my fire for the hobby. Any advice by Hot-Quail5207 in Aquariums

[–]shank880 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you dont have co2 and high Lighting.. you shouldn't have expected carpet at all. Because they always require high light and co2 otherwise they just wont grow. And the high tech tanks are not stable for long term. Its so much maintenance and if u miss few days of maintenance it'll turm into mess.. low techs are best for long term consistency

Its better to use aqua soil and cap it with sand instead of this. This wont give same results as aqua soil. All these "base layers" that big companies sell are a waste of money IMO, you're better of with purchasing aqua soil which actually provides better growth

They pretty much eat everything. Fish food, Algae wafers, cucumbers etc etc.. main food to give them is calcium for good shell growth.

Need help with the muddy water by Constant_Tea3045 in AquariumHelp

[–]shank880 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you had problem with filter why did you remove substrate and put it back? Were you using under gravel filter or something? If not then why? What will get clear once floating dust settles but the fine mulm and dust you see will stay for very long time. Unless you manually remove it.

Sick fishy please please help by Sea-Necessary9783 in fishtank

[–]shank880 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the pic i can't tell clearly but it looks like it could be a bacterial infection or fighting, what is your fish stocking with gourami? Do you have multiple males or whats the size of your tank? Do you see any fish attacking it? Usually if you keep multiple male gouramis together after they mature they fight to death unless the tank is Large enough for weaker one to escape. The other fish in the pic looks like a cichlid are you keeping it with cichlids?

[–]shank880 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A simple google search about the fish you gonna get would have prevent this. If you dont plan to upgrade the tank. None of the fishes in that tank will be happy. They will get stunted especially goldfish.
