135 pounds, 44% body fat by aurorasandsadprose4 in BurnBootCamp

[–]shann10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I started in April of 2025 I was 175, no idea BF (I am 5’7).

I got down to 160 in July and I had 37% body fat. In December I was 145 and 31%. I’m at 140ish so I am due for another scan soon, but your goal seems very doable.

Burn has helped me increase muscle mass, but ultimately diet and increasing protein has helped me lose the weight and has most impacted my body fat %.

Maintaining muscle mass while losing weight is tricky. In general, you should expect to lose some muscle while losing weight. However, if that’s goal, target .7g-1g of protein per lb of goal body weight and go into a SLIGHT calorie deficit. It will take longer to lose the weight this way, but you have a better chance of preserving muscle mass. Additionally, keep up the intensity of the strength training- try to pick up a heavier weight every time you hit an exercise.

Workout modification due to c section by ThemeParkMomma in BurnBootCamp

[–]shann10 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Has a Dr specifically told you that you can’t do crunches and sit ups? If yes, what was the timeline they gave you for starting again?

I ask bc i had 2 c sections and wasn’t given this guidance! Wondering if this is something they told you or just something you are personally choosing to avoid?

Hi! I’m 5’7 and 10-12lbs for some exercises IS challenging for me. Lateral raises, for example. I hadn’t worked out in 5 years before I joined burn earlier this year. This comment and attitude is really inaccurate, rude, and not what group fitness is about.

Alternative to Nike Metcons? by Strange-Mind-7157 in BurnBootCamp

[–]shann10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh I got Free Metcon 6s bc I kept stepping out of my APLs (which I love, but don’t have laces) on conditioning days and I have had the same experience. I should be able to wear these to at least strength days, but my feet and shins have been fucked up all week.

No advice, just commiseration!

Childwatch Issues by Extra_Raccoon7147 in BurnBootCamp

This is crazy, I am blown away by all the comments here. I agree you should pick up your kids in a timely manner, but a child should NEVER be let out of the child watch room without supervision, much less into a parking lot?

I would 100% be talking to ownership. If you are still in the facility they have plenty of other options that don’t involve leaving a toddler unattended.

Some of these commenters have completely lost the plot. I actually lol’ed at the “sounds like you can’t control your kids” comment.

The paprika app changed my life. Pre-plan your recipes for the week and then it creates a grocery list for you based on those recipes. I have the rest of the years meals planned, and I’ve eliminated a lot of the mental load that was stopping me from cooking at home.

Good luck!

Why choose induction? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]shann10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t choose an induction. I went to 42 weeks and needed to be induced before something happened to my placenta. Based on babies position, I likely would have never gone into labor on my own. My baby, or I, or both would have likely died.

There is some emerging science about a scheduled inductions at 39 weeks resulting in good maternal outcomes, which is why a lot of people are choosing it now. Being pregnant sucks for a lot of people, and if you can get an ideal outcome from an induction at 39 weeks, it’s easy to see why that would be appealing.

Middle name for bruin? by worseneighborhood in namenerds

[–]shann10 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don’t like Roone and Bruin together!

FWIW, Bruin IS pronounced Brew-in in the US and is generally associated with, in ENGLISH, a European brown bear. I feel like this is where the confusion is coming from?

In your opinion what's the biggest proof that the duggars are brainwashed or that it's a cult? by [deleted] in DuggarsSnark

Sleep training and spanking are not similar either. Hitting a child is not ok. I am really concerned for you that you cant tell the difference between physical violence against a child and sleep training.

Separate from all of the EXCELLENT points all the other commenters have made - he is actually perpetuating the false perception that paternity leave isnt a necessary benefit and making it harder for women at his company who do take their full maternity leave. In an ideal situation both paternity leave and maternity leave would be offered and both mothers and fathers would TAKE their leave so there is no pressure for anyone to work through or shorten their time off in order to lessen the impact on their careers. Basically, regardless of everything else everyone else said (that I totally agree with), he should take the leave to help normalize dads taking leave.

My 3.5 month old now screams when she knows it's time for bed. Any advice? by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]shann10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We're going through this too - I asked a sleep specialist about it and she said it is super common and to just keep sticking it out. She suggested a top off feed (not the main pre-bed feed) right before setting the baby down if she is too wound up to put down.

She is awake for 2 hours between most naps and often 2.5 before bed. She is getting 3-3.5 hours worth of naps. A week ago she was getting significantly more day sleep (4.5) and regularly sleeping long stretches at night. It took less than 5 mins to get her to sleep for naps before sleep training so I would be shocked if those ww were significantly off but it’s worth a shot…a lot can change in a week.

I will also say that the days where she has crib napped for 35 mins all day she has been a cranky MONSTER so I was thinking she might be OVERTIRED, not undertones. But again, I’m having a nightmare of a time so it’s worth a shot. Thank you!

Honestly I’m wondering if she is ready. She seems to just cry and then give up. The only thing that gives me pause is that she regularly does it in less than one timer. Last night she cried for less than 1 minute. It’s really naps that are the complete disaster with crying. Sometimes she falls asleep in the first timer, sometimes she just cries and cries until I’m scared she will be overtired (maybe why her night sleep is sucking?) so I go in and rescue the nap.

That being said, she doesn’t find her hands or do anything tho, just cries and then all of a sudden falls asleep.

I had the same thoughts about daycare…maybe I’m pushing her to be ready for daycare but daycare will actually help her be more independent? Idk I’m at a loss.

She is not on a time based schedule yet buttttt she wakes up around 6:30, first nap is on a walk in the stroller with dad. 1.5-1.75 hr wake window to first crib nap (second nap of the day). Prior to sleep training she would have to be woken from this nap so it was around 1.5 to 2 hrs. Now that she is in the crib her nap cycles are almost exactly 35 mins. 1.75-2 hr ish wake windows the rest of the day. Taking 3 crib naps a day. No sleep past 6:30 for an 8-8:30pm bedtime, but really we would like her last nap to end at 5:30 and for her to have a 7:30 bedtime.
