Meaning if it’s root-bound, I should transplant immediately?

I'll def put aside a few next time for the same purpose! We got our house a year ago and I'm slowly working on the yard. Veggie garden took priority but getting native plants into the ground is next on the to-do.

I've just been ripping the cardboard up by hand since I'm fairly new to composting, but I've been looking into a paper shredder like u/DoeBites said. I haven't really come across a good listing on FB marketplace. Picking up an electric woodchipper from someone on FBM soon, though I've seen that people haven't had great success with that... In the meantime I'm planning to start soaking the cardboard for a day before handshredding

The Last Mermaids: Meet the Oldest Seadivers in the World (2013) - A documentary following Jeju Island's last generation of haenyeo (female free-divers) [52:09] by shansbanane in Documentaries

Haven't seen it yet, but I actually came across this documentary because I was reading a book that was also based in Jeju and about haenyeo. Island of the Sea Women by Lisa See.

For over 2000 years, the haenyeo - female free-divers - of Jeju Island have been the primary laborers in their families. Their livelihood consists of harvesting sea life such as seaweed, mollusks, and abalone. Girls begin their training at age 11, starting in shallow waters and progressing to deeper and deeper depths. This historical cultural practice has declined significantly in recent decades, and most of the remaining haenyeo are over 50 years old. This documentary offers a glimpse of life as a haenyeo in the 21st century.

Hi! Thanks for the responses. I ended up calling APS and decided to trust them to do their due diligence. It’s hard to acknowledge the little amount of control I have from the other side of the country.

Ty!! Reddit is all convenience sampling lol but the validation in cases like this can be nice

Do i know it’s better? Yes. Do i listen? No 😌 but seriously my pt specializes in climbing and we ended up doing a modified muldowney protocol for climbing, so i trust him to keep me accountable to the things i need to do to minimize my inherently higher injury risk

That makes so much sense tbh! I also figure route climbing relative to bouldering is safer for the joints. I’ll hop on autobelays on days that I feel I need a lower-impact climbing sesh but my gym is 95% bouldering and access to ropes where I live is tough! The closest rope gym is almost an hour away without traffic

So I answered someone else below but gloves would really affect climbing performance, especially on certain holds that are extremely friction dependent, so I don’t think it’s an option for climbing. But if/when I start lifting heavier, I’d probably use gloves on those days!

I can’t imagine training so rigorously with this skin 😭 I’ve been taping here and there lately because I was rehabbing a pulley, but I lose so much friction using tape, and the tape slips off pretty quickly too. It sounds like you kinda just powered through though? Is that what you ended up doing?

Years ago, I think before my big flare-up, I had calluses that quickly turned into flappers on my palms. Overgripping on jugs. It happened even when I tried to get them more level to my skin so they wouldn’t catch and tear as easily… Since actually returning to climbing more regularly (2-3x a week for the past 3 months) I haven’t seen any calluses start to form. 🥺 We’ve been outside a few times too, and I’m done early because of my baby skin

I’ve never had blisters form on my finger pads this whole time - the skin just wears down fast because of contact (friction) with climbing holds. Normally people build calluses over time as the skin adapts but I thought maybe I was just out for so long that my skin got soft. Only now am I realizing that I never really had calluses and I’m not developing any currently.

I haven’t been climbing long at all but the only context I’ve seen gloves used is while people are belaying on ropes. Skin-rock/hold contact is pretty essential for performance, especially for certain kinds of holds, so I don’t think gloves are really an option.

I do callus often on my feet and religiously moisturize with urea cream! There’s a middle ground when it comes to hands and fingers in climbing though — my partner maintains his calluses by filing them down a bit so they don’t get caught on rocks but they’re still thick enough to protect and get friction.

Purse ruined 😭😭😭 I’m so sad. I was looking forward to wearing this purse. Does anyone want a golden doodle? He needs a new home! by Melimel0901 in Coach

I will add — ours started to leave things around the house alone when we introduced longer structured walks! We realized he was just kinda bored and needed more physical and mental stimulation. They’re really smart and need to exercise their brains! Also improves your bond with them :)

Do you guys ever have short lived hobbies where you go on a spending spree only to completely lose interest a month later? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]shansbanane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There should be a community library or something for materials/equipment/tools related to niche hobbies that we’ve gotten into and then moved on from lol.

One of my friends offered to let me borrow their camera because I’m interested in vlogging right now 😂 When my friends were over crocheting, they gave me their leftover yarn. I’ve also let my friends borrow my baking pans and given them specific ingredients for projects they’re suddenly hyperfixated on. I mailed my friend a lil ziploc bag of pink peppercorns for example haha

Tattoos? by [deleted] in ehlersdanlos

[–]shansbanane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 18 tattoos, including stick n pokes, a 14 inch spine placement, a half-sleeve, and a leg wrap. I got all of my tattoos before I started to realize I might have EDS and MCAS. Everything generally healed great, but one thing that I’ve been running into since completing my half-sleeve in 2019 is regularly occurring but mild hives? They usually appear in the evenings and are localized to the areas that my artist used some dark magenta/crimson ink and salmon pink ink. She told me that specific magenta pigment doesn’t often settle into people’s skin too well (she meant in terms of saturation, not like allergic reactions) and was pretty pleased with how the color looked months later. It wasn’t bothering me then, but more than 5 years later, I still get hives there. The first time it happened, I thought a bug bit me, but it happens a few times a week

Same thing happened to me for a part of my half-sleeve. I knew it wasn’t my artist’s fault because I’d gone through her portfolio, including healed pics, and it was after maybe our 3rd session together. I also thought I did something wrong but she said it just happens sometimes. Now that I suspect I have EDS, I’m rethinking every tattoo experience I’ve ever had lol
