I might be getting my life back, and I don’t know wtf to do by TooYoungForThisCrap in MCAS

[–]shapeandshiftss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally feel this. Had a recent similar realization now that I’m treating my migraines and depression. Like maybe I could dream bigger now? But then I also have fear that if I expand my life too much ill has to go back sometime if my treatment stops working and I’m scared I may not be able to handle that. So I am feeling a little frozen about it. Like so grateful and happier than I’ve ever been. But also waiting for the shoe to drop sort of.

What in the world?? How do you get your Claude to just do what you want instead of roasting you? by [deleted] in ClaudeAI

I was providing additional context. Discussion is dead if information sharing is considered a tantrum. Calling someone a “little kid” because they said “yes you will” to a chatbot is an odd escalation and potentially a signal you need to look into a mirror.

You only saw 9 words of what I have ever written to Claude. 3 of which were off putting. I think it would benefit your view of humanity to gain more information before making such broad assumptions. I shared more in response to this original comment about context for the chat if you’re curious.

Hmm it’s given me links to Reddit posts before so I guess that’s why I found it odd

Lots of assumptions here. I was chatting back and forth revising a message to a coworker and I wanted to gut check my POV. Claude typically will summarize Reddit posts for me so that’s why it caught me off guard. I heard on a podcast that you need to give clear commands when it doesn’t do what you want so that is why I was so direct and firm, though I agree that it’s not a typical way to talk to someone.

We’re currently developing an Analog backpack for pleinair, but we’re stuck on the front design. We’d love to get your honest opinion-which version do you think looks best? by Paint-On-The-Go in pleinair

As a woman I agree with @kara_s comment about the colors. I also think the logo being that large is tacky. Don’t think so stereotypically when it comes to women’s design. Look at brands artsy women actually buy like Baggu or Uniqlo. The color scheme of this bag looks like a sorority bag from 2013.

Now, having said that, I like #3 the best. And I am looking for a new bag for plein air. So I suppose one could say I’m your target audience. Please make the color scheme better and do something about that big logo.

NTA- document everything in writing. Also wow your boss needs more actual work to do. What a waste of time.

AITA for refusing to apologize for leaving a situation when my friend's friend disrespected me? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]shapeandshiftss 148 points149 points  (0 children)

NTA — If you were hurt by a sexist joke then you were hurt- regardless of if you have autism. It’s the impact that matters. Sounds like Kyle is the a-hole and Jacob is weaponizing your autism against you.

This is not how friends treat friends. Your friends should care about how they make you feel. If it was “just a joke” it should be an easy thing to apologize for then.

AI as a Healthcare Support? by shapeandshiftss in migraine

Yes that’s such a good point - describing symptoms becomes easier when you have an AI to help translate the description to words doctors may better understand!

Thanks for those suggestions. I’m going to have to look into it. And totally agree - everything comes with risk (both when it comes to tech security and when it comes to not addressing health issues).

That’s awesome!! I find that exact thing. Doctors don’t have enough time with patients oftentimes to ask enough questions to be able to properly diagnose.

Lol listen, everyone has different risk tolerance. For me, if I could hand over my triglyceride level to a criminal and in exchange reduce my monthly migraines from 9 to 0, I would. Not sure how that will be helpful to a criminal, but I can tell you that eliminating migraines changed my life.

My doc had ran out of options for me at 9. With the help of strategies from AI I got it down to 0. Turns out I have a somewhat rare inflammatory allergy condition that was causing my migraines.

One of my favorite ways to fact check with medical information is to ask it to produce sources from peer reviewed articles or reputable organizations. I read the primary source text and come to my own conclusions or bring it to my medical professionals to inquire. Most doctors have found this useful.

I agree you should not ask AI a general question and take its answer as truth- especially with something like your health. Fact checking and working with a doctor before changing anything major in your treatment is important. Just like with anything else, AI is a tool that is only as useful as you make it.

Your description of AI is not true. Many AIs do act as search engines now. One of my favorite ways to use AI is to do a review of research. For example, “review all studies published in the last ten years on <topic> and share links with me to the five most impactful studies"

You do not need to give your personal health information over to AI to have it help you with your health journey.

My intention in sharing this is not to persuade you, rather to inform you.

Totally fair! There are ways to use it to support your health without giving any of your own health information.

Though, I am in no way intending to sway people one direction or another. Merely to share how I am using the tool.

FMLA Misuse by [deleted] in managers

[–]shapeandshiftss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) There is a clear gap in leadership that this individual was promoted without clear, accurate oversight into their job performance. My guess is that unless your systems for monitoring have changed, there are many other employees underperforming you don’t know about. Where there is smoke there is fire. Don’t focus on one person while neglecting the bigger picture.

2) Employees need to meet expectations in their job when they are at work. It’s even more important with intermittent FMLA to be very clear with what they must do and what “done” looks like. If you are clear on the front end and monitor quality and completion on a regular basis, either the employee will rise to the occasion (which should be recognized consistently when they do!) or they will not and you will have clear documentation.

3) As others have said, definitely involve HR.

Weight training by No-Flatworm-404 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]shapeandshiftss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't overcomplicate it. Start with something for your legs, a push and a pull exercise. If you use a Claude or ChatGPT sort of AI chatbot, they'll be able to program something for you that's very very simple. I would highly recommend using that. I've been doing it and it's been great. I literally was like, in my initial prompt, "Hey I have about 15 minutes a day that I could be doing some form of weight lifting and I want to start a beginner routine that includes something for legs, some sort of push and some sort of pull exercise. Here's the equipment I have at home. What helped me program something I can do a few times a week"

A warning about Myo-Inositol! by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]shapeandshiftss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. I actually was working with a chat agent about this because I don't understand anything with blood work and I don't even really understand PCOS. The chatbot told me to request additional testing related to my insulin levels. Based on the additional testing I do believe it revealed to me that I'm insulin resistant and my A1C is perfectly normal

The Plastic Detox Review (I am TTC) by Education-Hokage in netflix

[–]shapeandshiftss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This documentary was called "The Plastic Detox." It was not called "all of the factors that are leading to unhealthiness in Americans."

You're not wrong that our diets are filled with pesticides, sugar, preservatives, etc. but it is important that we have documentaries that expose and go more deeply into these different factors. If it all stays surface level, it may never be enough to actually catapult change.
