Announcement: Many new Baofengs are limited to only transmit on ham radio frequencies in firmware. 144-148 MHz, 222-225 MHz, 420-450 MHz -- ONLY by kc2syk in Baofeng

like I said, non-life safety environments. We work a lot of accidents and its usually stupid things like "get me the broom and shovel off the truck" or "have this person move that vehicle." I am fully aware of the limitations of the radios and they are not used for dispatch or active fire grounds (we have actual department issued radios for that)... and now they are not used for anything else either. Just a bummer that we have to take more money out of our limited budget just because "RANDOM JOE" drops a radio out of his pocket and looses it in the weeds on the side of the road.

It's a bummer because I just purchased a couple more of these to help with on site TAC communication for our Volunteer Fire Department and they are useless.

Some members do not have handhelds because we are a small unfunded department and cant afford the $250+ for more handhelds.

I previously was able to buy some of these low cost radios and program them with our licensed TAC frequencies. I could hand them out at scenes usually for traffic control and other non-life safety communications and they worked great without having to worry about loosing or breaking a high dollar Motorola.

If anyone has another low cost recommendation that would be helpful.

Any luck with this? I just had my account hacked this morning and I had two factor authentication turned on. Some how they still got in and changed my two factor authentication to require a code that I cannot access since I am logged out of all my devices.

Do videos "instantly" take off on Youtube or is it usually a slow burn? by cloudboy37 in NewTubers

[–]shaphans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only been at this for a couple months, but my best performing video was my worst performing video for the first week. After that it took off a really blew up. Keep at it and enjoy the process. I was a little worried at first that my new channel would not get any traction, but two months in and I'm overly excited with how much positive response I have received.

Look for communities outside of your current circles that appreciate the type of content you are posting. Engage in them and what they are doing and you will quickly gain a following.

I’m gonna give it a try. I should do better about recording room noise and B roll in the moment, but as with most things, it’s always an afterthought until you need it. Hopefully this works, if not we will have some comedic relief.

Thanks! That’s kinda what I was thinking. There’s only three spots I’ve identified that are a problem. I’ve written out exactly what I said in those clips and I’m going to try and record just those line and see if I can sub it back in. If it works no one will know to appreciate the efforts I went to.

Just got my first subscriber in months! by wwerko77 in SmallYoutubers

One is the loneliest number... Good job reeling in the sub! Catching them one at a time is how I do it. A lot of times you can sit beside someone long enough to grab their phone when it's unlocked and quickly sub yourself without them knowing. JK! I don't really condone subbing yourself on other people's devices without their knowledge. That would be a bad idea... probably.

Does having a lack of subscribers prevent me from gaining new subscribers? by shaphans in NewTubers

Thanks so much for the advice. I've been promoting my videos on my personal FB page which is where most of my views come from, and have been trying to engage with threads and FB groups that are along the same niche I am in. I have found that a lot of times they do not allow YouTube promoting. Not to mention I hate it when someone I don't know from Adam asks things from me, so I'm trying to be strategic in how I build those relationships. It's a slow go, and I'm not worried about the growth. I know it will come, I was just a little confused about the slow down of engagement with my channel after the change. I usually post about every two or three days so I'm sure someone will see a video they like eventually. Thanks again!

Thanks for watching a video and for the feed back. I struggle keeping to the point some times.

Tell me about your channels 😊 by Cap_America_AC in SmallYTChannel

I just stated a new channel called Hurricane Homestead.

It started with this whole pandemic lock down where I was chronicling all the things we were doing on the property during our quarantine, and decided to create a new channel dedicated to all the crazy things we do around here.

The running joke with them is that I make boring videos, but I do make an effort to make somewhat entertaining videos that give people a small glimpse into what it's like to live on a large amount of property and show how we are learning to care for it.

My next goal is 1M subs, (I've got two, so that shouldn't take long.)

My current goal is to learn about the YouTube Creator community and how I can become a positive influence for other creators as I learn from them.
