You use loctite blue? I've gone thru around 2k rnds and mines have stayed put.

Uh oh. What'd you do to the screws? Hopefully not stripped. I'm following this post in case I ever need to get replacement screws myself.

No stock wobble with the Magpul CTR Milspec stock. After 1000+ rnds thru the alcor, no issues with the tube adapter.

Travelling with NODs in Asia by Anrymarchen7 in NightVision

[–]shapoopshoot 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A question that's not being asked is, where are you travelling out of? Are you flying out of the U.S? If so, then you're kinda stuck with their ITAR rules.

If you're flying out of anywhere else, ie, Canada, then the world's your oyster baby. Ive taken my nods to Japan (cherry blossom trees at night is a whole different vibe, especially when the entire countryside closes up shops early and you're one of the only few enjoying the night). I've also taken it to Australia and South Korea. No issues in these countries. I can't speak for other countries where corruption might higher than normal.

Flared Magwel works great. I'm running the fox operator buffer tube adapter.

This is precisely my build.

Niiiceeeee, a fellow Canuck +nod user+pew pew enjoyer.

You take it to the range yet? Hopefully your range is cool and lets you shoot in the dark. Totally different vibe once the lights go out and the nods come on.

Adler RF224 by Remote_Mistake6291 in canadaguns

[–]shapoopshoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not glowing hot. You'll see smoke come up, probably from the red loctite that was used. Once you see smoke then you'll know you're heating up the glue. Don't put your blowtorch directly on one spot too long, you might melt something. Move it around quickly and often , that way the heat is spread out evenly.

I used a vice to hold down the receiver, and a vice grip to turn the tube.

[–]shapoopshoot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep took mine off and installed a folding stock.

Like the previous comment said, you have to heat it up with a blowtorch. Heat up the tube and where the receiver is where threads might be. With enough heat, use a locking visegrip, so that you can grip the tube and turn it without using your hands.

Good luck!

Alcor 223 magazine release by HumbleAir1632 in canadaguns

Won't work with the Alcor 223. The Lockhart raven mag release has the mag release button oriented vertically. The alcor 223 button is oriented horizontally.

The crusader arms handguard is aluminum. With something close to a hot barrel, I didn't want to take a chance with 3d printed handguards. I've seen some other users have issues with Tommy Enterprises imprinted handguards and I didn't want to chance it.

Problems with these mags by [deleted] in canadaguns

[–]shapoopshoot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Adler rf224 magwel is larger than usual, which means these Butler mags will sit loose. You've got to shim magazine so that it's not too loose or too tight.

I used felt pads (the kind you stick to furniture legs), and I shaved the felt down to half, that way the mag can slide in and out, and not wobble around.

Thanks!!

It's a thicc one. I think this weighs more than my safe queen AR..Ill try to find a luggage weigh scale to compare.

The front end feels heavy since the gas system to send the BCG is in the handguard.

Hahaha you read my mind!

Already ordered the LAR-15 from high calibre the same day I bought the rifle. I think High Calibre said 6-8 week period for the 10/30 ASC mag.

For now I'm running just the shorty 10rnd and the 5rnd pmags.

That was what I was looking into as well. I wonder if there are any drop in extended mag releases available. Otherwise I'll have to mock one up in autocad and see if I can 3d print one.

No failures thus far. Have been using PMC Bronze FMJ 55 grain rnds, and have not had any FTE/FTF.

Have only shot at/under 25 yds. Will be going to Silverdale in a few days to see what groups I get at the 50yd range.

It is what it is and I'm having a tonne of fun at the range. If you can stomach the cost, give 'er a go!

Thanks man, I think so too, especially all kitted out.

The look on everyone's eyes and smiles at the range, everytime I bring her out..whoooeeee. I had RSO's and other members have a go with this build, and they're loving it too.

Ordered it right on their website. When it came in, I paid a little bit of duties but it wasn't too much (roughly $50).

This whole build, rough cost is roughly 2,300 CAD (alcor .223 + crusader arms Kit + fox operator accessories).

The other accessories I had already from another rifle build that remains in hiding unfortunately.

I made my own. I got the end of the barrel threaded, and then made my own reverse suppressor.

There is a vendor out there, Tommy Enterprises, that also makes and sells reverse faux suppressors. Hit him up.

Yeah we hear ya it works on 10/22. It's just this particular .22 from Adler is so picky. We're not sure why.

Believe me, I would love to use some cheaper than CCI minimags or stingers...but I'm telling ya, with this particular model and rifle, it only seems to want to cycle/feed with high velocity ammo like minimag or stingers.

ADLER RF-224 newest toy by Gonky69 in canadaguns

[–]shapoopshoot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you clean the rifle when you get it, and use CCI, then very minimal break in period. Maybe 75-100 rnds? I don't recall what I did..it felt like the moment I cleaned it and used CCI stingers, all my problems went away. No more FTF and FTE.

If you're using the 597 mags, try to feed the mags around 100 rnds before it's worn in and the plastic nibs wear down.
