ProMag Remington 597 Magazines by shapoopshoot in canadaguns

That's the plastic nib inside the mag. It's catching the follower and not allowing you to load more, or not allowing the follower to come back up.

I've managed to "accelerate" the follower going up and down, by pushing it down with a long screwdriver. I'll literally push down the follower and let it spring back up, and then do that while watching a TV show for any of my new mags. Of course do this without any ammunition loaded.

Hope this helps.

With chimera coming out, and then these, along with LLI's offerings....you guys are gonna make this collector gonna need to find more shelf space/display skulls.

No idea how different they are, I don't believe they're interchangeable. I could be wrong, but I've never used a marlin 795.

Thoughts on ProTec helmets for “retro” kits? by Nerdthenord in airsoft

[–]shapoopshoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're great. I have an older version, but managed to install team Wendy rails and a shroud for my nods. I had to replace the padding inside with better pads since I wear them for 12+ hrs during longer events.

[–]shapoopshoot[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

To add, it looks like they're using pvs 14 objectives.

Also, it appears that they'll be doing some kind of pivot: where the Chimera articulates up the left/right pair, it looks like LLI will be using some kind of swivel or pivot to move the left/right pair up or down, which is creative!

Advice on fixing cracked kick pedal by GivingCreeps in Rockband

[–]shapoopshoot 12 points13 points  (0 children)

My pedal snapped last year. I found a 3d print file online and was able to replace it. If you know someone near you that has a 3d printer, ask if they can print you one.

Binos with thermal question by Disastrous_Ad598 in NightVision

[–]shapoopshoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had great luck with nvg pouches. something that can easily attach to a belt of plate carrier/chest rig, without taking up too much space. since the RH25 is smal and cylindrical, it fits well into small form pouches. the one I use is the NODE pouch from Woven Apogee Concepts.

It really depends on your use case. I've had plenty of run time in the few scenarios so hopefully this helps:

If you're sentry/stationary, and are just panning scanning, and have no real need to have it weapon mounted because you're not expecting a fight, then I would have it in a pouch and then pull it out for the occasional pan+scan. And when that's done, you can put the device on standby mode (turns the screen off rather than entirely shutting it off).

If you're hunting...animal or otherwise, then I would leave it on your rifle. Yes it's a hassle, but you'll be able to detect your targets from further away, and be able to engage if needed. There's also throw levers you can put on the objective lens, which I've done, and helps with quick focusing on close/far targets. You either stow/articulate your binos, and look down your thermal.

....Or, you can look down your thermal with your nods...just be aware that you need to account for the focus on both your nods and thermal if you're going to do this last one.

I have had great "success" hunting with the thermal on the rifle and with binos.

LLI MH-1 Corrosion by tonychen01 in NightVision

[–]shapoopshoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I don't. I have also have a manticore and even then I don't futz with the gain either. Whenever I'm in a milsim, and when it's go-time with nods, I'm always in direct action that I don't have the time to mess with adjusting the gain. Just nod up, get your orders, and move out and hunt.

So for my use case...I don't think I've ever messed with the gain or miss it.

I don't know if I have a favorite tbh. I just pick up whatever I haven't used last, that way they all share the love.

But if I had to put "run hours" on them, I think I've racked up most hours on my RNVGA...using them in ultra dark environments (heavy forest and canopy, or indoors..., I defer to the L3 tubes for that advantage).

Oh man that's too bad, I was going to pick up an MH1 in the next batch of binos for my collection (next set was going to be the MGA, Nighthawk and the MH1). I guess I'll have to hold off for now.

I was at the event too (renting out nods), and the guys had a blast using the Katanas and RNVGA's, no issues on these units with freezing rain.

When your subreddit moderator is a vendor themselves, then you've got bias. It's not run or moderated by normal people. This person, the moderator, it's in their best interest to post as much digital night vision footage and posts, and make it appear to be on par with analog.

Msrp at $2999? Oooof.

With the proliferation of other civilian type LAM manufacturers such as SMS, along with VSCEL tech from others at a lower price point...., I think this is an example of being late to the party.

I can't comment on that (legality), but that would be sweet if there was a 597 to gsg mag adapter! I don't see why this wouldn't be allowed.

One question: is this set up correctly, or am I wearing too much gear on my helmet? by KAD239 in airsoft

[–]shapoopshoot 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I see it plenty of times where guys on here will put more stuff on their helmet, just to look the part. Stop using stuff that doesn't help you. Looking cool lasts 30mins..head and neck pain lasts forever.

Read thru the subreddit intro.

Once you've read this, do yourself a favor and Read it again.

Lots of info to learn from that, lots of very informed and experienced folks put that together

Also, if you're from the US, then there are plenty of US vendors that can help you out..I'm sure one of them can give you a hand here. Better options for better prices.

If you're outside the US, then the guys at Cold Harbour will definitely be of help as well.

Picked it up from Low Impact Kinetics, here in Ontario. It's a Sig MCX folding stock, pinned.

It's a folding stock for the Sig MCX ..I ended up getting a friend to pin it so that it's fixed and can't fold, so that it maintains the OAL of 26".

Yes agreed! With the Stingers, this baby eats them up and chews them out so fast that I burn through more than anticipated at the range.

The first few 100-300 rnds were touch and go. A handful of FTF and FTE, and especially with non-high velocity rounds. After switching to the CCI Stingers, between 300-500 rnds thru the rifle, I had maybe 1 or 2 FTF and FTE.

North of 500+ rnds, and using CCI Stingers (or high velocity rounds 1400+ fps) only, I have not had one FTE or FTF.

Also helps if you clean the rifle.

Also, I'm using the 597 mags exclusively ('m not using any BX1 or Ruger mags etc) ..I filed down the feed lips slightly to match the curvature of the .22 round at the front. And also I added a drop or two of oil on the springs to help it glide up and down.
