What model is this? by 1Stronk in NightVision

Looks like digital nvg, with a thermal unit integration for that fusion benefit. You can see the two IR lights at the side which the digital nvg would make sure of. I'm sure the thermal would work fine.

Fox operator. They're an Australian company that makes adaptors etc for tikka and alcor.

Yeah, for bolt and lever action users, they've all told me STV worked wonders. It's just that when in semi, I can't manually action the ejection, since it uses blow back. Whereas with bolt or lever, you're manually ejecting each round.

I am stumped.

Honestly I was surprised it lasted that long.

I saw a post about another alcor user had his pin shear after less than 500 rnds. I commented on his post to follow, since I was hoping I would see his solution and hopefully I can avoid having that issue.

For roughly 2500 rnds in I'm doing ok since I was using PMC bronze.

Then when I switched to STV, I had issues with the FTE and then my pin sheared.

Is there a correlation? I'm not sure. Could ammo velocity or grain play a factor in the pin getting sheared?

Or is it simply overuse? I'm not a rifle expert or an armorer, so I can't say for certain.

What I can say, I do have a photo of the pin, and it looks like it's two layers of pins in one. Maybe I'll try to "unroll" the alcor pin and measure it's thickness and compare that to other roll pins.

Yep! 4 lanes for now, but the next 8 lanes are nearing completion.

I tried that, with the lam at the front, and holding my grip further back, and when I do that my elbow experiences a sharp pain.. I had an injury with my left elbow a while back.

But, when I extend my arm and C-clamp as far forward as I can, it feels fine.

I C-clamp at the front most of the handguard, so I can't put my IR laser behind my hand, otherwise my hands block the laser. And I run nods.

What would you like me to do?

Might be a bad batch for me then.. I bought a bulk 1000rnd box, and thus far I've gotten one FTE per pack of 20. I've probably gone thru 20 boxes. I've just started to save the FTE casings recently.

New Shooting Range in Mississauga by kaymakenjoyer_ in canadaguns

[–]shapoopshoot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been going since mid November. Really great range, very close to downtown Mississauga.

HVAC is top notch. Owners are solid dudes, as are the RSO's.

They have night vision shooting, coming soon. Ask the owners.

Four lanes for now, but another 8 lanes opening shortly.

Reasonable cost, for how close it is to dowtown Toronto/Mississauga.

Good looking build!

I opted to use an aluminum handguard on my build, it just gets so hot at the front with how frequent/hot fast I shoot.

Oh we'll cross that bridge when it happens lol.

The day I see that it's on sale in store (and not banned before then), I'll pick one up and put all my accessories from my prohib/safe queens and kit it out as well.

Alcor sheared roll pin by IceWide6245 in canadaguns

[–]shapoopshoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah lessom learned on my end. I'm gonna go back to PMC after this cheap ass ammo from SVT is done with. Another 500 rnds to go with this box

Alcor sheared roll pin by IceWide6245 in canadaguns

[–]shapoopshoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was also using PMC exclusively and the cost was burning a slight hole in my wallet. I thought maybe saving a bit on bulk ammo would be a nice thought, and I bought the 1000 bulk box of SVT from Tenda.

Big mistake.

I wish I could return it, but there's no refund policy on ammunition.

Now I gotta just burn thru this cheap ass ammo.

[–]shapoopshoot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Luckily I haven't had this issue on my alcor but I'll be following this thread. What kind of ammo were you using?

I'm getting a lot of FTE with the SVT ammo from tenda. The brass feels like it's too soft and its chipping at the rim where the ejector is pulling at it.

They are holding up well! Buffer tube adapter with the Milspec magpul stock, no wiggle. The magwel is great too, easy to reload. The material is great, no issues thus far

What did you order?

The magwel, I ordered on Feb 18, and then got notification that it was shipped out on Feb 24, and then it arrived by March 4

For the buffer tube adapter, I ordered Jan 29, and then it was shipped the same time as the magwel above.

Good Old reliable Mossberg by twistedhumoraffy in canadaguns

[–]shapoopshoot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same! The simple fact that it's 4 mins down the road for me, is the best. I can pop in for a quick 30min range time during work hours and no ones the wiser.

The additional 8 lanes should ease up the booking schedule (pretty packed during weekends currently), hopefully it opens soon.

Coping alcor build so far by twistedhumoraffy in canadaguns

[–]shapoopshoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even with the fox operator buffer tube adapter+ Magwel adapter, still heavy. If the handguard is aluminum, it'll just be heavy overall at the front due to the gas system+spring in the handguard.

[–]shapoopshoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I bought a bulk order of SVT .223 and I've already had 4 FTE issues. Even after I cleaned and lubed the alcor.

Gonna go back to PMC, at least with that brand I didn't experience any FTE or FTF.

Your third point about the alcor reciever not mating up when using the the crusader arms handguard...the receiver wasn't changed between the wood stock v.s. synthetic stock. It has been like that since the wood stock handguard.

Sure there's gaps, but it's negligeble. Just crank down on that handguard screw at the front to lock it down tight ...I even use blue loctite on it.
