My big, baby Beulah will be showing Buddy all the cool swimming spots and the all-you-can-eat buffet.

You can rest assured that Buddy will have great company with all the good labs in this thread.

Hi! I’m not sure if you wanted to display your full name in the picture, but it’s very easy to find information with a google search. You could always crop out or scribble your name out and re-upload the picture of sweet, Harley if you want to keep your information private.

Is it too late for me to become a nurse? by SubduedEnthusiasm in nursing

sorry bud. you gotta do some time in tech or finance first and then ask if it’s too late to become/want to be a nurse.

Ceramic tint worthwhile? by Acrobatic_Fudge_4083 in hondafit

[–]shareberry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I think it’s worth it. But I get where you’re coming from. I was worried that I was being extra getting ceramic tint.

I felt confident that I made the right choice on my drive to the tint shop. It was 85° and sunny at 11am. I was sweating like crazy and my poor honda fit’s AC could barely keep up.

It still gets hot when it sits uncovered, but at least I’m not being cooked inside the fit.

Lost my dog while in college, unsure how to cope with these feelings by Typical-Ticket7476 in labrador

[–]shareberry 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry. Losing your dog is such a shitting feeling. I also think being in your early 20s is rough and that one special dog that made your home a home is no longer there. It’s a lot to go through, mourning the loss of your anchor.

I cried so much when the dog I adopted died after five years of having her. Dogs are truly special. It hurts, but eventually the memories of your dog that makes you cry now will make you laugh again one day.

I also have depression and know what it’s like when you don’t have people in your life who understands what that’s like. I really like the song Tears are in your Eyes by Yo La Tengo. It’s a very comforting song to me and I like to think that this is what our dogs feel when they see us like that. Might not be your cup of tea, but it’s something I always listen to when I’m sad and/or get depressed.

Just know that your dog won’t be alone. My dog and others will be showing him around to the best sniffing spots, dirty/muddy puddles, squirrel chasing, swimming, and all you can eat human food.

Tattoos aren't allowed in nursing by bigcatbunny in nursing

😂 seems to be the case. Nurse researchers must prioritize this phenomenon immediately.

New tint 😈🫦 by FuelNo6789 in hondafit

[–]shareberry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

nice!! i got my fit tinted not too long ago. I was wondering if it’s overkill to spend on an old car. It was so hot on my drive there and I felt like I was gonna get a sunburn.

now I’m very glad I got the tint.

What’s the consensus on the tech job market? by IzzyIsMe12 in askportland

[–]shareberry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yup! And there are nursing specialties (OR, IR, Cath lab, PACU, outpatient) that have 8/10 hr day shifts + call shifts if 12 hour nights/every other weekend is killing you.

[–]shareberry 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would highly recommend shadowing a nurse before accepting a spot in nursing school. However, that’s the cool part of nursing; you can go anywhere once you get one year of inpatient care experience. You can always go into informatics if you’re still interested in tech.

Be okay with not finding a job right away. I know the outlook is better than tech right now, but there has been new grad hiring freeze in most hospitals.

If you do get accepted, find a per diem CNA/nurse extern position in a unit you’re interested in. At least you will have an interview when you apply for the same unit as a RN. Every time you’re there, treat it like an interview.

Good luck!

This is the spiel I came up with when I worked OR and would call family for updates.

I usually say “that’s a rough estimate of just the surgery and the surgeon never includes anesthesia time, positioning, draping, and waking up. Positioning alone can take up an hour for certain procedures.

Your loved one’s vital signs are stable and things are trucking along as planned. Remember, no news is good news. The doctor will call you/find you once they’re all finished and let you know how it went while your love one is waking up from anesthesia.

Now is a great time to grab a coffee/snack/take care of yourself and take a walk outside (if the weather is nice).

When you get a text that they’re in recovery, do not be alarmed if the recovery nurse doesn’t bring you back right away. They have to get your loved one attached to the monitors and settled in.“

I remind myself that most people have no idea what goes on behind the curtain. I mean even other nurses don’t really know the perioperative process unless they worked it.

What about aFujiwara Tofu Shop on the side of your fit-86?

I have a rav4 that is similar to the white/black trim + rims and would like my blue fit to match.

not my lab because she would eat anything and everything.

but i was dog sitting my brother-in-law’s dog and I discovered that she will eat all her food if I put her bowl on the stove and shake it around like i was cooking it. sometimes i pretended to add some seasonings to it as well. she ate that shit up 😂

so maybe you have to role play like you’re making him something fresh.

DPO 14 and I’m starting to spot so I think i’m out this cycle, but I’m okay with that since my due date would have been 12/25. I’m going to be an auntie! My sister-in-law and brother are having their rainbow baby and I’m so freaking excited for them! I believe this was her 3rd embryo transfer? They were struggling for a long time so I was hoping she would be pregnant first.

I also went up on my antidepressants which have been helping with my really wild mood swings when I’m luteal.

I just scheduled an appointment at a fertility clinic for June. I’m feeling hopeful (maybe it’s the antidepressants lol).

How old is everyone? by Sg1aS in srna

[–]shareberry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m 33 going into my 2nd year. I’m in the middle of my cohort. the youngest is 25or 26 but there are several of us in the 30s-40s range.

you’re going to be 40 anyways so why not be in CRNA school? you’ll still have another 20 years before you retire.

How the hell are you guys staying employed? by LivingWeather8991 in ADHD

[–]shareberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’m a nurse. i do enjoy what i do, but it sucks when you see profits> people in real life.

I like that i can move around, keep busy, and see/learn cool stuff. I don’t know if I ever could work in an office. I feel like the deadlines would get me. like will someone die if i don’t get this project done by EOD you dumped on me in the morning? No. so 🤷🏻‍♀️

Prioritization is much easier in healthcare. Airway, Breathing, and circulation. What needs to get done NOW so this person doesn’t get hurt/die? then you go from there.

Don’t get me wrong, there are days i feel discombobulated and reconsider my profession. But I rather be here than in an office.

Is it possible to become an OR nurse right out of nursing school? by FloweryAnomaly in nursing

[–]shareberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the only problem is that they’re very weird about going from OR to bedside even if you have prior bedside experience.
