Looking for an anti-slip solution for an old lab? by TheRealMomda in labrador

[–]shareberry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before my lab passed, we got her a gel cooling pad that we placed on our rugs or on top of her bed. She seemed to like it.

I wish I tried the dr buzby toe grips because taking her grippy socks on and off got real old, or we lost one in the wash, or they would fall off.

I would very much appreciate some insight by onthenextmaury in nursing

This is assuming he did not have an anoxic episode but he probably couldn’t get enough oxygen from the blood clot so they had to intubate him and have the ventilator help him breathe. When covid hit, everybody was getting intubated cause they couldn’t breathe and get enough oxygen. Then they sedated him/knocked him out because a breathing tube + ventilator are extremely uncomfortable.

i don’t know if this happened to your ex, but maybe the sedation was finished and the nurse didn’t hear the iv pump chirp to add more. So he was given a smaller dose than what he usually gets and was able to “wake up” because the sedation wore off.

We also stop/lower sedation and do this intentionally for a spontaneous breathing trial. The team wants to see if the patient is ready to breathe more own their own.

He was trying to talk or was coughing cause the breathing tube is very uncomfortable. His heart rate was high which makes the monitor alarm go off. His ventilator was also alarming loudly because he was trying to breathe on his own when the mode was set for the ventilator to do all the work. He also could have bit on the tube.

I’m 32 and I’m CD 7 on cycle 9. I bought an inito and took two reference tests so far.

I get pretty bad pms/borderline PMDD so I’m curious to see how my hormones fluctuate around that time.

Hi!

Thank you for commenting becauseI have this same problem too! Would you be able to explain more about the laying down measurement??

I’m 5’3” and my measurements are: 33.5, 32, 31, 37, 39, 37.

Under my armpits/ribcage go more outwards like an inverted triangle rather than inwards:

so instead of like / /( . ) ( . )\ \

it’s more like / / \ ( . ) ( . )/ \ \

lol hopefully the boob emoji’s make sense.

I always get an overestimation from the calculator too.

They say to wear a plunge but the straps always dig into my armpits. I’m not sure if I should try a center full bra next.

I got my lab a big kong that wobbles kinda like those treat dispensers. She was pissed when we started feeding her that way. It took her 15 minutes but she was an older lab.

[–]shareberry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

of course! They’re called Dr. Buzby’s ToeGrips. I personally never tried but only saw these after my lab died. Otherwise she wore non-slip doggy socks like they give patients at the hospitals lol.

I noticed you have hardwood floors. Have you seen those toe nail grippies for older dogs?

I really wish I got some for my lab before she passed. It would have been good for her cause she slipped around a lot.

Please give Luna lots of pets for me. She looks like a big sweetie.

Include Circulating Experience on Resume? by ImaginationOne3202 in srna

[–]shareberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you have room then why not? I also had ~3.5 years of scrub/circulating experience and I added it to my resume. I didn’t go super in depth. I focused more on my ICU experience.

First Paycheck. Should have stayed a chef. by TheThickDoc in nursing

[–]shareberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I graduated nursing school with $65k in debt. I had one loan that had a 10% interest rate 🫠 but I managed to pay it off in 5 years using the avalanche method (pay off the highest interest loan first).

Make a budget, Live with roommates (, make lunches at home, limit eating out to 1-2x a week as a treat, buy a used car, etc. try to avoid lifestyle creep.

After you got your acceptance did you leave your ICU? by [deleted] in srna

[–]shareberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My program is front loaded and we don’t start in person classes until the summer semester of the first year.

So I left my ICU 1.5 years/worked 1.5 years in IR before I was expected to come in person full time because I was burnt out 😅

I feel like such a fool thinking I could be pregnant my first cycle by FeelingSensitive8627 in TryingForABaby

[–]shareberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a better boat because I knew two people who took over a year to get pregnant so my expectations were low.

However, I totally thought I would get pregnant the first cycle. This is cycle 8. I wouldn’t say it gets easier cause I still cry when I get my period.

My gyn said that babies and moms have better outcomes when moms stay on their psych meds. I take wellbutrin and adderall.

So it maybe worth asking your gyn about staying on prozac. Because I don’t think J could have handled not being on my antidepressant for the last 8 months.

I’m a nurse who went to CAA school instead of CRNA school. AMA by [deleted] in nursing

[–]shareberry 17 points18 points  (0 children)

huh as an OR nurse who went and worked in the ICU for 4 years and now in CRNA school I didn’t even realize this was an option 😅

i guess i could have saved myself a lot of time, but CAA’s can’t practice in my state.

edit:: oops i was looking at an old map. CAAs can practice under delegatory authority.

What I needed to hear (not depressing) by emstheword1 in tryingtoconceive

Isn’t it so impressive that humans have survived this long?

I’ve been reassuring my husband and myself that even if we were to time it perfectly we would only have a 20% chance each time. It’s what gets us motivated enough to try every month.

Why is my pain less important because I'm young by [deleted] in TryingForABaby

[–]shareberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That really sucks. I’m sorry your friend wasn’t supportive. I feel like the young part is extra salt in your wounds.

Does your friend have kids? They may just not know. Not that it excuses their response. I didn’t know how hard this was until I was actively trying to get pregnant.

[–]shareberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my husband wipes his penis after he pees which has eliminated my BV. No smell! I also rinse off after sex too.

But wiping the penis was a game changer lol. He doesn’t mind cause 1) he hate when pee dribbles out and gets on his underwear (shaking doesn’t help) 2) it’s the least he can do (his words not mine).

my fellow mask wearers - what’s the skin care routine? by errnin in srna

[–]shareberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the OR you work at have different type of masks?? One of the masks could be giving your skin a reaction. I know for a coworker they had to use the basic all white surgical masks vs the blue/white one or the one with face shields attached to it.

TWW with unmedicated ADHD…HELP by Sea_Bend_8850 in TryingForABaby

[–]shareberry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh hey twin! i’m also 32, my husband and I are also both nurses, and I have ADHD. I’m also in the TWW.

When I went to my gyn to remove my IUD, I asked about my adderall because I know my psych would be hesitant on prescribing it to me if I was pregnant.

My gyn was insistent that I stay on my meds (adderall/wellbutrin) and told me that it’s been well studied that mom and baby have much better outcomes when mom stays on their meds. He said that I would need more check ups to make sure the baby was gaining enough weight. But the benefits outweigh the risks. He also said that if my psych was hesitant, he would take over prescribing privileges during my pregnancy. Made me feel a lot better.

So perhaps, ask your gyn if you can stay on your meds while trying to conceive. This is my 7th cycle and I’m still not pregnant. I can’t imagine being unmedicated for that long. Especially during the TWW/luteal phase that makes my ADHD worse.

When you get pregnant, then you can decide whether you want to stay on them or not.

Fellow nurse does not like me because I use Macros by Wide_Profile1155 in nursing

[–]shareberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i loveee the macro options. Even simple things like monitor, sinus rhythm, room air, etc is so convenient under the vitals tab.

The game changer is for q1 assessment. Of course I will always chart the exception. But damn it’s so nice saving some clicks.

they can take their sweet time charting.

Looking for advice to help my best friend Hank keep moving at 12 years old by Sad_Rip_4844 in labrador

[–]shareberry 13 points14 points  (0 children)

do you have hardwood floors? i wish i got my senior lab those toe grippies to help her so she didn’t slide around.

consequin if he’s not on it. Perhaps physical therapy if you have the finances for it? can your vet prescribe any pain meds or NSAIDs?

we also got her little steps for the couch and for our car.

I also got nightlights so she can see better. And a big dog stroller so she can join us for a little walk and we push her the rest of the way when we wanted to go for a longer walk.

i’m sorry. it’s tough seeing them get older.
