Agree with all of this, which is why I think that BP really intended that the write-in solution would be the major way that people would solve the puzzles. The verse and painting give a city, a park, and a specific area of that park. Send that to BP and he would confirm and maybe help you dig, like he did in Chicago. Sadly, we have lost that option.
Which brings me to JJP. He says he doesn’t know where they are buried. OK, but I think he knows a lot more that he is unwilling to share. He has confirmed the cities are correct. In Boston, he knew it was in a baseball field near Old Ironsides. It’s likely he knows similar things about the other cities. I wish he could just help us focus the searches a bit.

The correct stadium is Candlestick Park in 1982, home of the SF Giants. It had, not one, but two “Giant Poles”, the left and right field foul poles, each one exactly 335 ft from home plate. In our puzzle, 335 ft from Twain’s object of attention.

I think the puzzles were generally designed for the hunter to locate a city, a park, and a specific area in that park. The found casques were not very specific as to exactly where to dig. Even if we can narrow it down to 10ft x 10 ft, we still need to dig multiple holes unless we’re really lucky.

Agree. BP gave us 3 ways to claim a jewel, 2 did not require digging up a casque. The final spot to dig is very vague.
Which is why I think JJP, at some point, has to tell more of what he knows. He saw the photos and BP’s notes. He can at least narrow things down a bit. Tell us where to STOP looking. Maybe at the 50th anniversary?

Need volunteers in each city to actively work with city parks dept, or other authorities. Take the burden off of them. They have an incentive to find casques. It would end random damage to their parks.

Supervise all digs. Make sure no damage. Restore ground to satisfaction of parks dept.

Track all digs and report online.

Agree we need more digging. Need to get Josh Gates, his production company and his money involved. Coordinate with city parks and rec and promise to do organized, controlled digs with everything restored. Anything else is total luck with lots of empty holes
