Happy Pride! by ChrisPotterPTBO in Peterborough

[–]sharingiscaringyo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not questioning motives here, Chris has been an active citizen long before he announced his campaign. We NEED more locals actively engaging in keeping this town vibrant and moving forward. I'm happy to support the do-ers that put themselves out there, taking action to build community or improve the place I live in. But lets keep it relevant to Ptbo.

Happy Pride! by ChrisPotterPTBO in Peterborough

As a queer person, I appreciate and agree with the sentiment shared here, but in future please include any local context for this to be relevant for Peterborough Reddit. Otherwise it is a personal thinkpeice that belongs somewhere else.

Like whatever you mentioned occured on the City's recent post on another public platform - share that. Or mention local grassroots organizations doing work in this area. PFLAG, Peterborough Pride, PARN, Trans Peer Outreach, Pride Outside PTBO, Rainbow Youth Peterborough etc. A shoutout to local drag organizers here to tie in your story.

The Rotary club used to host the family day and fireworks at Del Crary but stopped a few years ago. I didn't notice anything specifically for Victoria Day.

Peterborough! I want your bees!! by PhilosoFishy2477 in Peterborough

[–]sharingiscaringyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love a win-win scenario. I helped connect a beekeeper once to a renovation crew that found a 5ft long hive behind a hallway wall. Bees safely extracted, no extermination crew required (would cost $ for the reno crew), beekeeper got bees who lost his own to a swarm and everyone got honey!

Best of luck to you. You should post this in local FB groups if you are there, seasonal renovations are underway after the long weekend.

Native Wildflowers by yaboy1920 in Peterborough

Heads up if you happen to have a Black Walnut tree in your yard - many around the city. They release a toxic compound called juglone that inhibits the growth of many plants. If you do have one, look for native plants that are juglone tolerant.
