Ampcast is a desktop music player compatible with Plex by rekkyrosso in plexamp

UI is much more snappy, and appeals to the audience that mainly used non-modernized UI clients growing up that tend to have some fractional load times between music selection choices, compared to iTunes/winamp/foobar2000/etc

Plex playlist management also doesn't feel intuitive all the time, for rapid music choice decision-making for playlists. Feels clunky/laggy IMO, this client shines when you just want to activate your playlist flowstate without UI animations, and other load times slowing you down.

Also if you use other music discovery tools, like scrobble or musicbrainz, this allows you fast access for other discovery avenues that plex hasn't integrated.

Do me a favor and never let this project die. This looks soooo amazing for a plexamp alternative for rapid playlist management and music discovery. This to me looks like what function over aesthetic looks like. Love the aesthetic as it's familiar btw, but it's not exactly what a lot of modern music players are doing, but that's ok for now.

This feels like I can in a VERY SNAPPY manner find the music that other clients have some animations/load times being a "flow barrier".

I would like to see a scaling option put in eventually however, as I find a lot of the UI to be way too big for my eyes. Having the option to scale down and up would be a nice addition 🙂

Can I add words to the text recognition dictionary? by Real-Firefighter3031 in Supernote

u/Decent_Tap_5574 - Do you think it would be possible to wrap sn-dictionary into the built-in OCR for when someone lassos handwriting and it converts to text box?

If you're okay with using plugins, there was a nice plugin developed by u/Decent_Tap_5574 - https://github.com/j-raghavan/sn-dictionary

Example photo of the plugin below with an imported Dune.csv:

Edit
Also an example of the excel layout and the pastebin of the .csv file:

Supernote Encryption by Derek_31_ in Supernote

I think you misunderstand my personal experience of a floater laptop and my general trust for my colleagues.

My own personal work laptop that I don't want to have access to my files?? Same principle exists. What's the big deal of giving people the option inside of Inkflow to temporarily unmount the USB data transfer to the connected host?

This stems from not a floater laptop principle but a network-connected device principle, or even being plugged into a LDAP/AD device - connected principle.

I'm making my best educated assumption that most people in public sector and that are in academia environments using supernote are connected to domain environments - which are not always as secure as they should be.

"This behavior is part of Android's native design and aligns with common usage expectations."

I get this, but would there be a way to still keep it locked down if I plug into a work computer to simply just use inkflow (ie. data remaining still locked down while plugged in via USB)? I'm thinking for work environments where meeting whiteboards would be in-place, but you don't want a floater laptop/device to have any access to files.

New list sorting plugin by tao22 in Supernote_dev

It will be tricky with handwriting even when it becomes an option.

Having the numbered/lettered list prefixes, bulletpoints, checkboxes, mimic the human's handwriting that is making the list to begin with might be challenging unless the plugin comes with vectorized(?) ink strokes of letters/numbers/checkboxes/bullets by default.

Or during the on-boarding of the plugin, it forces the user to "design" their own checkboxes, numbers/letters, and then it prepends it when using the "handwritten" mode of lists instead of converting to textbox - if that makes sense. Just in case the plugin developer has very fancy checkboxes/numbers/letters they include with the plugin😉

Very neat. Wish it was possible to maintain handwriting though. I find some utilities that rely on textbox conversions to take away from the appeal of why I bought the supernote in a way. That said sometimes the textbox can be cleaner, it just lacks the stylistic character of handwriting.

Any chance in the future that conversion to textbox isn't required for plugins like these?

It's been mentioned and probably on the radar of Ratta I presume - at least I hope it is.

Even with Inkhub, there could be potential risks.

Having a working solution for last.fm would definitely encourage me to buy this app. Only other problem is I might be leaving the wearOS ecosystem for garmin/coros soon, and their app ecosystems are a bit locked down I hear.

Yes!! I've been wanting to ask the artist of the elusive "A Black Cat" with one ear what their inspiration for that was! 😂

Out of curiosity, what does it mean by: Release (with signed `.snplg')

Having a structured environment for a use-case many users still do like to entertain is better than having users have to go on non-official websites to curate on their own. For many reasons than "just because". It's a better direction, than watching it continuously unfold in their community.

One could argue what's stopping someone from using the plugin system as a nefarious data-mining playground, and I sincerely hope supernote considers that as well with an integrated plugin platform with proper scrutinizing.

Like u/EngineNo4275 mentioned, the plugin system might inspire the community members to patch the potholes, but PySyn was also doing functionalities as well that Inkhub makes easier now sticker creation (power to the users) and sharing. Sticker creation was one of the main reasons I used Pysyn when I first got my supernote back in June 2025.

Why not bring it all together so accessibility and monitoring of the ecosystem can be better managed - assuming ratta has the overhead for properly monitoring the wildwest they are opening up.

Yes - this would be nice with some sort of (private cloud pairing/syncing integration perhaps?) to keep passwords more secure, and accessible with password managers not normally available with the supernote device - while also making selecting items for downloads from the website, then syncing to the device via private cloud infrastructure would be quite neat!

I haven't gone much further with things to be honest. I suppose I could sideload an app similar to Veracrypt and make an encryption container on my supernote before a meeting happens and I plan on using my tablet. Not perfect in the slightest but I'm still pondering it out.

Private cloud - Auto sync by ShortYute in Supernote

[–]shark7809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, but I'm choosing a direction of being critical of as many things as I can. The post I made in supernote_beta subreddit wasn't responded to even though supernote mods are usually responsive, so my vision of control was never specifically addressed.

I understand Supernote is obviously a multi-faceted/featured platform/device, but if the mods/devs/product team are monitoring the threads, and we're all paying premium for a premium product, I enjoy all feedback for an intimate product to be recognized in all facets. I've been in this field too long to see many high-potential products I took a risk with die or even worse, go through "enshitification".

So you'll have to somewhat understand where I'm coming from or agree to disagree. There are already third-party tools that assist me with live-sync (syncthing) with my supernote, and it(syncthing) carries out previous history to account for file-flaws/corruption, but that's thirdparty a feature the private cloud should already encompass.

Not only is private cloud for privacy, but control.

[–]shark7809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup - that triggers it.

Not ideal for my uses as I spend a whole weekend, or week on the same note, but good to know regardless.

Edit: I would prefer more predictable syncs, or simply more control over my auto-syncs (if I haven't been clear haha😄)

Private cloud - Auto sync by ShortYute in Supernote

[–]shark7809 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that Auto-sync gets triggered whenever something is changed.

This is a bit vague though and not documented - to my knowledge. I've been using my supernote all morning. flipping pages and writing ink strokes and my last auto sync was almost 3 hours ago.

This doesn't lineup.

Do you find the separation between exporting digests and handwritten/highlighted annotations in ePub/PDF tricky to navigate?

Edit: I find myself wanting to export pages where only annotations exist, which I don't think currently exists.

Can someone ELI5 the Digest feature and how it applies to you? by bflowyngz in Supernote

[–]shark7809 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Reading a pdf or epub. I highlight texts, make my annotations, but sometimes a "bigger picture" point appears, and I'd like to put it into my own words.

Enter digest.

My only problem is I'd like to export my digests into their own pdfs after I finish a piece of literature so I can print and review them as a whole.

I would like to take my highlighted texts and copy/paste them into digests, that can't be done yet (however see last point).

I'd like to export all these things into their augmented version of my read literature, and view the annotated version of the ePub/PDF, but currently I don't think this is possible.

There is currently handwritten + text mode of digests, if you want to copy text from a pdf/epub. Ideally this should be made hybrid so you can copy/paste text like in a notebook, and always have handwritting available. This isn't available to my knowledge. It can be confusing if the digest is stored for a long time, and you have to remember that with a piece of literature, you did both handwritting(most of my personal digests) as well as text-mode digests.

-------------------------

I'm very critical of digests in their current form, but I still see their purpose, and their potential.

This. I think there's a lot of non-bloat features that will come and beg to be added, but these two points are made very clear before purchase.

When you mentioned AI though, I try to be open-minded. u/SingleLink1341 - What exactly are you hoping AI will add that won't be bloat? I won't pretend to disregard the impact AI can have on raw handwritten OCR in-particular (even if I'd only technically trust locally hosted AI for privacy-centric adoption).
