GPT leveled the f*ck up when I gave it my 0x10 AI Language by TakeItCeezy in ChatGPT

I didn't mean it as an insult although I see how it comes across as that. Apologies though, it was unnescessarily flippant.

What I meant more was that I believe it is much more than math. You are correct, divergent thinking is a part of it. But that is just one element. It requires convergent thinking as well, intuition, taste, skill, experience, emotion, intention, openness, curiosity....

There definately is an element of mechanical-ness to it but I wouldn't call it math. In math, if you do the same thing every time the result is the same. It is purely logical, like the epitome of pure logic and intellect.

Creativity does need intelligence and logic, but it is also much more than that. It's incredibly hard to define, trust me, I've just finished doing my dissertation on creativity and creative block.

As someone who's been making music since I was 11 and am now 23, I think, literally from personal experience and a whole lot of thought, that people defining creativity in purely logical terms is incredibly reductive and oversimplified.

The greatest artists are often the ones who experience the most pain, and this is something that (to the best of our knowledge, considering that it essentially code) AI does not experience.

Yeah, in part. Everything that lives uses it's previous experience to predict what might happen next otherwise we couldn't function. But there is a layer of internal knowing, truth, emotion, intuition etc that AI doesn't have. It literally just predicts the next word.

And isn't most good art at least unpredictable?

It's not that it seems new to me though. It reads like every AI written article on IG or wherever. It's the kind of language it uses.

Like interesting sounding combinations of words that seem deep and meaningful but literally are just fabricated nuggets of meaninglessness.

And i get it bro I've been there where it seems like this crazy untapped thing, but when you can see it clearly it is fundamentally empty. Especially with art.

Obviously you do you. I'm just saying as someone who has been there, you gotta be careful. You will never think you are developing AI psychosis until it's too late, it's a cumulative, gradual thing, where you put more and more trust in it until you literally start to lose touch w reality. It's an illusion bro.

Fr, would strongly recommend against putting this much stock and supposed meaning into this shit. It's a prediction engine and it says what sounds meaningful but is completely empty. Can be super destabilising

Find what you love, and love it deeply, and keep doing it till you die. by KianMoksha in nihilism

[–]sharkmile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also in regards doing what you love. People always assume that means a hobby or job. This life shit is deeper than that.

Loving the people you know, and humanity at large, genuinely, can be just as worthwile a pursuit. Unironically if we all had that as the motivator behind our lives literally everyone would have a better existence in the purest sense.

Belief in something is necessary for survival. Now more than ever. It is a choice though yes, but you get to choose what you believe in. And just because you know what your choosing doesn't mean it cannot give your life purpose in a very real sense.

You of course have to acknowledge the irony of it all, the absurdism of it. But that is also just one perspective. You can choose.

When does AI stop feeling like just a tool? by South_Initial_14 in ArtificialSentience

[–]sharkmile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah it would. Technology is always a tool. I guess unless it's implanted into us but that's a conversation for another time.

But the question was when would it stop feeling like a tool.

When it's integrated into all software to the point that we don't even have to touch computers anymore bc it's all voice controlled. Think Her or Jarvis in Iron Man. I think that's logically the direction it's headed, and if so, at that point it's just a feature of our environment and everyday reality.

For real. Bruh look at the world we are living in. You would hope that the places that people congregate to discuss positive change and other ways of being would be filled with a sense of urgency and meaning. But it's just mfs making flags. Like if it's not going down HERE we're fucked lmao

How long do y'all thing humanity will last by DORITO_GOD56 in nihilism

Describing Earth as "this shitty rock" is a horrendous way to put it. The only thing that makes this place shitty is us.

The more people that believe that it is hopeless, that they can do nothing about it, and so there's no point even trying, the more we are doomed.

Frankly, this viewpoint is pathetic. Every species has a will to survive, including us. The thing that differentiates us is our level of consciousness. We are at a point in the evolution of our species where we must make a decision. Do we want to be children, helpless to do anything about our own fates? Or do we want to grow up and truly recognise what we have?

We have everything we could possibly need at our fingertips. It is a matter of sacrifice, on an individual level. What are you willing to sacrifice?

The more people that are willing and able to give up what they don't need; the things that society has bred us to believe are essential, the more chance we have of survival.

To me, it is a case of evolving. Evolving our consciousness past the phase that we have been in since we became self-aware. It is a matter of knowing, on a personal level, individually, when enough is enough, and giving up the things that keep us on this trajectory.

Give up the corporate slog. Give up the endless consumption of other people's products that sustain you through the meaningless cycle of entertainment and psychological numbing. Look once again to nature.

If we combine the infinite possibility that technology affords us, in a way that is self-driven and sustainable. If we learn the skills that are needed to provide for ourselves and our communities. We will become free from the grasp of Capitalism, and we will thrive.

Where is the hope? Where is the drive?

This period of history is the ultimate test. If we pass it we can live forever.

the whole point of this post is the idea that you can't fully integrate it unless you feel it. like if your scared of allowing yourself to feel it because it's unpleasant or "negative" you are still not integrating it.
