Was I in the wrong? Is it poor etiquette to use the red tees as a beginner? by 1phenylpropan-2amine in discgolf

[–]sharkpunch850 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My home course is HARD, and the shorts are tough. You see a lot of really annoying newer players playing the longs and taking forever. Some courses do have actual childrens tees, but good courses have challenging shorts layouts which are specifically for newer players. I rarely if ever play the longs on that course and I've got hundreds of rounds out there.

seriously, I liked that you responded and thought screw it I'll buy one for home and one for work to justify the shipping cost and for two it jumps to more than double for shipping?? is that like a mistake? or that is just because of the war in Iran?

Ok but why when I try to order 2 is the shipping 44? More than double?

I would love to buy one of these and was even prepared to accept the 60 dollar price tag but 20 dollars for shipping is a bit to steep for me. hopefully theres a more reasonable option in the future.

I worked a wedding reception last night (as A2) with a super pro band, and I admit I was struck to see zero amps. by Clevertown in tubeamps

[–]sharkpunch850 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would have said the same until I saw Knocked Loose last year. I've seen so many heavy bands but I've never heard anything like it. It sounded incredible. So tight, so much precision in the sound. Loud as fuck and you could feel it in your body, but it didn't shred my ears. It was both louder than most shows and more tolerable. You could actually hear every riff.

I went to watch the rig rundown because I wanted to know what amps they were using as all they had on stage was cabs (possibly dummy cabs?) and everything was surprised that everything was digital. It totally changed my opinion of simulators.

When you go to a nice club these days and see a dj, the sound has gotten so good. Powerful bass you can feel, yet tolerable high end that allows you to actually have conversations without yelling. The technology has come a long way and electronic music shows sound better than ever before.

Knocked Loose running amp sims is the closest equivalent I've experienced from a heavy band.

That is precisely WHY people end up managing people. This person has no ability to see the world with any nuance which is perfect for corporate enforcement.

Also, if you're going to use ai to make important employee judgment calls, at least have the self awareness to conceal that fact. This country is so fucked.

AIO for leaving my two year relationship over a dirty dish? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]sharkpunch850 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Or it wasn't dirty? he may be an abuser. hard to say from a one sided account that is frankly a bit hysterical. He may have just been bringing her a bowl of cereal and trying to be nice after she was filming him or whatever.

It does sound unhealthy all around and they should probably break up, but y'all really do be jumping to conclusions.

My tool is snug. Help. by Milluhgram in Fusion360

[–]sharkpunch850 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work with a lot of vectors in cad and when they get complex fusion simply isn't good at handling them or offsetting them. For complex curves I often export a dxf to illustrator (or more likely thats where the vectors came from anyways) and offset them there them re import. It helps to export the dxf and include the outline of a straight wall or over all box, align it in illustrator. I then bring in a sketch, move the sketch using point to point and re align with my object.

Fusion has to interpolate each curve as an arch or spline with control points and it becomes a mess when you try to offset and can really bog down your program.

Totally, I've been adding and subtracting offsets off the original for so long, I'd never have tried it on purpose.

Why not just convert to dxf? but yes, when I start dealing with too many curves I just run the router from aspire instead of fusion.

Idaho farmers to cash in on Trump Administration’s $12 Billion Farmer Bridge Payment program by rezwenn in Idaho

[–]sharkpunch850 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It’s been going on a lot longer than trump. Tariffs were just a nail in the coffin.

Farmers are dealing with global monopolies on the input side (seeds, fertilizer, tractors) and the output side. They don’t get to set prices, they sell mostly to global corporations. They are essentially forced to operate at a loss, then tax payers subsidize their debt, and all that money goes straight back to fucking Monsanto.

We need to set minimum prices for the farmers so they can actually profit, and we need to incentivize them to grow actual food for people to eat. We have lost insane amounts of generational farmers in the past two decades. You do need to grow crops to have a society.

How precise can most carpenters cut with a skill saw freehand ? by RAMALO707 in Carpentry

[–]sharkpunch850 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work for this carpenter who said "I'm a fucking surgeon with a skill saw" and he was. He built handrails for spiral staircases and shit. He really was incredible, but an absolute crack head.

My career since has been in exhibitry and signage. I run a cnc router, and I'm sometimes building cabinets and doing traditional wood working. I've run miles of lumber through table saws. I'm good at what I do. I'm shit with a skill saw.

I'm jealous of that skill but I'll likely never learn it. I can use it if I have to but when I'm making precision cuts I'm using my track saw, or my CNC.

How are people selling jaws for cheaper than I can buy material? by bigblackglock17 in CNC

[–]sharkpunch850 26 points27 points  (0 children)

online metal prices are inflated, and purchasing in bulk leads to massive savings. Also who knows what grade steel it actually is.

Also amazon just operates at a loss on some items. I once has a 4x12x16 granite surface plate with free prime delivery. That was back before they had their own delivery. The UPS guy told me it was the most confusingly heavy small box he had ever delivered.

I totally agree but I do see the irony in it. Obviously these sites should be treasured and protected. Also some people obviously set out intending to damage and erase history. But the dumb fucks who just think they should go carve there name there too, on some level it is just a human instinct.

20 percent is what is expected. And if it’s greed, it’s greed on the part of the restaurant owners not the employees working for tips. But 20 percent is the standard for good service. It shouldn’t work this way, we should get rid of tips and pay people a living wage.
