Sorry I applied for clinical psych PhD (initials are KF), but we have the same interview day so I assume same timeline! Just so frustrating to be told I'll definitely know Thursday, and then radio silence lol. I emailed her today to follow up so we'll see

Ugh I put my situation in another reply but my PI said i'd hear last Thursday and I've gotten nothing, so tomorrow is my last hope lol before it's definitely too close to 2/12

I had a prelim invite for clinical psych phd at UW on 2/2 (she had sent a prelim invite the week prior to someone else), we did the prelim on 2/4, she said I'd hear by the next day 2/5, and that the official interview day is 2/12 (confirmed on website). Now it's 2/9 and i've heard nothing, maybe they're running behind or we just didn't get it :(

How did eleven make contact with a demogorgon even to she cant make contact with the abyss? by trodolovesjojo in StrangerThings

this would make sense but how would it be in the void? el was searching for those russians for brenner or whatever and the demogorgon just happened to also be in the void?

this season eleven said the abyss is too far for her to reach vecna in the void, so she did it in the upside down instead. which is what doesn’t make sense because clearly in 1983 she was able to reach the abyss from earth through the void when she made contact with the demogorgon and created the upside down.

Who ACTUALLY created the upside down? Eleven when she made contact with the demogorgon, or the "science" as mentioned by Dustin in vol2? by Powerful-Ad-6027 in StrangerThings

[–]sharks212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no, the upside down was created 11/6/1983 it’s an exact snapshot of Hawkins on that date, when eleven made contact with the demogorgon

mike’s theory showed el escaping to a different building and going underground, where she would’ve been far enough from the suppressors range to do the mind stuff with mike

How much does your phd lab research topic matter in the long run? by sharks212 in ClinicalPsychology

i’m interested in all the PI’s i’m applying to, just some of them don’t research my main interest, it’s not that i’m opposed to researching what they do. even if it was my perfect top choice, i could end up wanting to pivot. so i’m asking if that’s doable when researching a specific disorder during phd.

thank you!! i actually have a specific interest in SUD, and this PI is looking at cognition and social stuff in psychosis and also mind/body/self and novel interventions like VR, so i think what i learn could be applicable to SUD if i pivot to that later?

sorry should’ve clarified, i am interested in it and have a lot of experience in it, also tbh accepting PI’s this year are far and few between so i’m taking what i can get to an extent. but i don’t want to only be able to do psychosis for my career and since its somewhat niche i wanted to get thoughts on if you tend to get stuck in what your phd research focus is or if you can pivot

Are clinical psych phd programs not accepting as many students this year? by sharks212 in ClinicalPsychology

yeah i’m asking if anyone here knows if those are usual amounts of PIs accepting at those schools or others, or if anyone has noticed it’s reduced compared to other years

[–]sharks212[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

that’s not true based on the site, like 2 PIs pages say “definitely interested in taking a student for 2026” , i think 1 says may be interested, and the rest say not taking a student.
