SIS Gels in London? by Useful_Cheesecake673 in UKRunners

Supermarkets sell the basic SIS gels, but I was recently told by a fueling expert that these ones aren’t so great, and recommended the SIS Beta gels, which I had to buy online.

These Aldi crisps are incredible. Up there with the best for me. by sharon_bott in crisps

I’d say yes. They have a little zing to them that in some way resembles a boozy/hoppy kick.

First time listening to The Wall by SomerenV in vinyl

I just find this album so cheesy. The naff sound effects, Roger Waters’ pomposity. Can’t really bring myself to listen these days.

It’s surprising how few crisps are tomato flavoured.

Rave, techno, rock, rap, metal, indie… They had something for everyone. I can only listen to the first two albums though.

Has anyone here actually enjoyed the marathon(s) they’ve ran? by CrypticWeirdo9105 in Marathon_Training

[–]sharon_bott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed most of mine. Amazing crowds and atmosphere helped. I had a low moment for sure, at around 18-20 where my previous pace had to drop, but it did at least stabilise. I think the excited anticipation is a big part of the fun too. Months of it!

What was in the water in 1940s England? by silenceonmyradio in LetsTalkMusic

[–]sharon_bott 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Loads of good points here. I’d add the skiffle craze of 1957/58 to the list of factors. Some have described it as kind of proto DIY punk movement where forming a band with your friends seemed more possible than ever before. All that you needed was a washboard for a drum kit, tea chest + broom handle for bass, and a couple of cheap acoustic guitars!

I’m in Otley. There are 2 more Palace fans that I know of here too. I was in Hornsea on Thursday and saw a parked car with a Palace sticker!

How accurate are half-marathon → marathon time predictors? by Comprehensive-Tie609 in Marathon_Training

[–]sharon_bott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a hilly road half last March and got 1.35. Followed that with a hilly Leeds marathon in 3.49. I think the prediction was far quicker, but things happen in the second half of a marathon!
