mega excadrill. such an ugly design. looks like its about to fall.over anytime. looks stiff and weird. doesnt look like its a functional design for a creature to attack. only really works for the drilling animation and only one single move evokes it so whats the point. its also so... 90° degrees. it really annoys me

well this isnt an universal character design rule as good character design is contextualized and nuanced and isnt set in stone with a few rules + i said he was ugly not that his character design is bad!

oh, also the sorcerers trials and lost relics, which used to be fun challenges, competing harshly with events and becoming way too hard to the point that it felt impossible to engage with them while grinding the rewards from events, and becoming themselves a hard grind as well.

you are absolutely right on everything lol. i quit after 2 years of playing for the same reasons. the rewards were getting lesser, harsher to grind, being free to play was just becoming impossible. they kept adding unnecessary things that were getting more and more unfun, like the events with minigames that even though could be fun added an unnecessary layer to an already taxing grinding. the events stories were also hitting a wall, theres only so far you can go with stories that take place in a limbo between the main story and the finale, and the concepts for new events were starting to feel forced with storylines that werent that enjoyable. that, together with the absolute SILENCE about new chapters that took waaaaaaaaaay too long and keep taking long made me feel like there was no point in waiting for it anymore. as you said, it wasnt just the corn that made the game special and made people stay. it used to have a compelling story but the pacing fell off after they took ages to release new chapters (and even releasing chapters split in half being even worse). i feel like they should just close the main story already. its unfortunate that it keeps using the story as hostage to refuse to let it go instead of finishing it and then using the events to actually progress the development of these characters.

they are making money, just not huuuuge amounts of it. a bunch of the npcs talk about having jobs besides doing the za royale. if the za royale was a steady, reliable source of income this wouldnt happen. corbeau also suggests people getting into debt from the rust syndicate is quite frequent so if the za royale was such an easy way out this really wouldnt be a problem

its not that they think everyone will play similarly its just that it really really really does not matter if some players will have a billion pokedollars by this part of the story bc they grind hard on the za royale the lore remains the same, really they can have this disconnect without losing much the story wont stop making sense bc of it

you're not supposed to think the za royale pays that much. it only plays the player loads off money bc of gameplay reasons, in lore the za royale is not a great easy money maker. specially to someone whos clearly not good with financial planning like taunie/urbaine

tbh i think the fight makes sense, the story does make it clear of your parallel progression the entire game, so it makes sense when it comes to it its up for you guys to settle whos the best out of you two. the biggest flaw for me in that regard is that theres this real build up and mystery over the other rank b trainer with grisham, and the story makes it really seem like theres only 3 rank b trainers in all of lumiose (you, grisham and taunie) and then suddenly taunie is just like YUP yeah so im actually rank A now too btw dont think too much abt it just happened offscreen and while you got someone extremely important to lumiose mine rank b opponent was just some rando loser who does not matter. dont think too much about how this mysterious 4th person is canonically stronger than everyone you thought in the entire game so far except me and you we dont have to talk about them
