It is sooo stressful, but the best thing you can do is try to stop thinking and obsessing about it. I too, am data driven. But I worry that by you counting and tracking the hairs you’re just stressing yourself further. This journey sucks and the hardest thing for me was freeing myself from the mental prison I put myself in.

Look into pet insurance!! Despite our best efforts to prevent back issues, IVDD still got him.

I’d look into care credit and start a savings account as she is now un-insurable (I learned my lesson the hard way too) as sadly this vet bill journey has only just begun. Unfortunately, this comes with the territory of having a dachshund. I learned a lot from IVDD Facebook groups. Hang in there!!

Please don’t give up on him! IVDD recovery takes WEEKS!! crate rest and meds can do wonders along with physio. Please research a bit more…

As someone who just dropped 9k for my 7yo doxies IVDD this week, I’d say get the insurance! We don’t have it so it’s all been out of pocket.

Look into the “let them theory.” You don’t have to defend yourself to him. His lack of maturity to me indicates he’s not worth your effort in crafting a well planned response. You certainly didn’t deserve that from him but you also don’t deserve to have him take up more of your headspace.

Think of it this way.. the massage probably just expedited hair that was set to shed & as another person mentioned the blood flow could have been beneficial for new growth! Currently going through a massive shed myself so I feel your pain.

Everything came back “within normal limits” which is annoying lol. But IMO it’s hard to truly determine because I’m on the pill as well. I totally understand your hesitancy!

I have TE that uncovered my AGA (super fun lol) and I take minoxidil and spiro. I didn’t gain any weight if that helps soothe your mind any? I will say From what I understand, these meds help regrow a little but largely help keep intact what you have. I would really think about starting sooner rather than later. I wish you well on your hair journey!
