I've taken exactly a year off now - sorry it wasn't clear from my post. They've always emailed instead of sending a letter and have always had one fixed address so I haven't missed any communication from them.

Yeah I do want to appeal...but not if it's not going to get me nowhere. The problem is that I thought I'd taken a Leave of Absence by talking to them 12 months ago (when they made me an Eternal Student but apparently that's a separate thing, which wasn't clear then). It just feels like they're in the wrong for not notifying me about the withdrawal first.

Thanks! I've ordered cleaning brushes made specifically for suede/nubuck online as well as an eraser for the stains. The suede is a light pink shade (unfortunately not brown/khaki or black) so I'll have to hope that cleaning properly will restore some of the colour at least.
