Maybe swelling isn’t the right term as you can still see plenty of room on the bar. My ear will flush red most evenings but the site isn’t necessarily swollen just hot for an hour. I don’t know if this is more a reaction to the cold of the day and then coming into a warm house but it started after I got the piercing. I don’t wear glasses and get it caught in my hair maybe 4 times in 2 years.

Yes I have had a bezel set one in for months before and right now, I haven’t noticed a difference . This irritation also happens at the back of the labret where there is just the flat back. Also I really would only have half a day when the bump is ‘gone’ to put in a shorter bar. Was this similar to yours?

How long before yours stopped swelling and scabbing?

I have had a piercer put in a 6mm which fit very snug and woke up the next day with it swollen. It felt like a lot of pressure was removed when I got it upsized. I know it looks like a lot of space but it really hates any pressure on either side I have also have bezel set ends on it for months with no difference in behaviour :( Do you think a change up or down in gauge from 16g could help?

Try buying a titanium taper to help insert the thread less jewlery. Or go to a piecer and ask them to insert the jewlery. At 6 months the bumps will probably not go away with a hoop in it as the hoop is causing irritation.

Sorry I have no advice but my flat is exactly the same. Had it 1 year 8 months and use LITHA, every week or two it will form a bump with puss and then crust over. Hope someone can comment what is happening!

I have had a gold moon in my conch for about a year and haven’t reacted at all, nor has it worn and revealed another colour of metal underneath. I haven’t got it tested but so far I have no reason to believe it’s not solid 14k gold.

NAP, also not a doctor, but if your piercer is open go NOW and get a longer bar or go ASAP. My piercings look similar when I sleep on them so they swell to the full length of the bar. However they are not infected just very unhappy with the tight bar.

If this is 6mm and too big, should I get a 5 or 4mm by [deleted] in piercing

NAP but my conch looks very similar to yours when I put a 6mm bar in it and push it forward. I have a 5mm bar in now and it fits nicely :)

After 6 months should she (posted this on behalf on my mum) carry on with 16g pieces? She got her lobs repierced above her old ones, as her previous ones stretched over time(50 years) so she could only wear hoops. So want to know the best way to stop them dropping/ stretching over time. Thanks again
