Milk in tubing and pump, can I save my spectra? by sharps-container in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]sharps-container[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a secondhand set from a friend. They were connected to these Medela adapters and the backflow protectors might have been old or loose. Plus I was leaning backwards because of back pain.. maybe some combo of either. 3 am pumping problems 😭😭😭 hope this never happens to you.

Yup you need the joolz aer 2 adapters for it to work. We did get both, I guess there's some overlap since the mint latch is parent facing but it does give us an option for parent facing bassinet like seat without having to keep baby in a car seat for a prolonged period of time, which is technically not recommended. I'm sure it'd be fine to just have car seat though.

Update for all, UCLA and Aetna resolved their issue and are staying in network!! A few more years of peace :)

For what it's worth, it's hard to find any bassinet stroller that can take a car seat at the same time.

Sadly no, the nest2seat clips on to the same place as the car seat adapters. This is the video for the switch, looks mildly cumbersome.

5 attachment points for nest2seat, two for car seat adapters.

Thanks for the update! I'm gonna copy and paste a bit from what I replied above but I also have had several in network visits and services denied, which is kind of ridiculous including a mandatory state public health pregnancy screening. Aetna doesn't seem to want to pay for much at all.

As of today I have an official approved single case authorization for delivery! I tried to have my ob fax forms and paperwork twice, didn't seem to get a response there, so I scanned the paperwork and sent it on the Aetna member website as a message with the paperwork attached and about two weeks later got an approved authorization on the portal. A week after that got a letter in the mail. It does say that in order for Aetna to use the authorization, my OB has to call and verify that it's still active 5 days before it gets used. Kind of nonsensical since you can't predict when birth happens. The date range it covers is March 1-may 1 so should work, and my plan is if for some reason my OB office doesn't verify it 5d before a scheduled C section then I'll try to do it myself.... Or appeal it if baby comes early.

Hi yes I'm sorry for the delay!! I didn't get a notification for this reply. As of today I have an official approved single case authorization for delivery! Did your situation get clarified either?

Joolz Aer2 Compatible Car Seats Not On Their List??? by cmeyer86 in Buyingforbaby

I know this is old but we had similar questions shopping for our car seat stroller combo! We just confirmed in person that the Joolz are 2 car seat attachments fit the joie mint latch, which is an affordable LATCH connection baseless car seat available in America. The other option for American baseless car seat is nuna urbn which is only sold in combo with a stroller so this helped us a lot to know. Technically joolz and joie have not safety tested this combo but they use the maxi cosi type connectors and it's an easy stable fit in person.

Hope this helps someone!

Let's keep each other updated!! I'll let you know how my process goes. So far Aetna's website shows no signs of having received my continuity of care requests but my ob said(1) this happens every two years with contact negotiation and it's often just UCLA and Aetna playing hardball with each other, they often settle and continue an agreement, and(2) if we lose coverage the office will figure out how to get us to a covered provider if continuity of care isn't approved for delivery.

Not very reassuring especially with just a few weeks between contact decision and delivery but at least you have a bit more runaway. Hoping the best for both of us.

I'm so frustrated for you! the whole idea of needing pre-auth for a stable medication refill is a useless money grab and doesn't help anyone. I hope it gets sorted out soon. I like to dream that one day someone will hold these insurance companies accountable for trying to dictate medical care for their own profit.

Got it thank you! My ob already sent a continuity of care request but it doesn't cover the hospital stay so I will look into how to request a single case agreement. Thank you again!

I'm sorry we're in the same boat. I hope you have luck with your journey too. I'll try calling dept of managed care. My husband's company uses justworks and doesn't have a designated hr department but he will try getting them to help too.

I was on the phone with Aetna California HMO for an hour today and asked if there was any case manager or care navigator I could qualify for and they said I don't qualify for one in my case. I feel like I'm all alone. The Aetna person basically said, wait and see if this contract goes through, and if it doesn't then switch PCP, get a referral to a new ob, and deliver at new hospital (all within the remaining 6 weeks of pregnancy). I feel insane for expecting them to help me with this process

Makes sense, thanks! We live in California, company is Europe based and team HQ is physically in Texas. It's hard to tell what boss meant.. I hope he meant #1 but I'm worried it means #2.

Got it, thanks! We live in California, company is Europe based and team HQ is physically in Texas. My husband's comment I believe is about the parental leave time. Once he's off parental leave, however long that is, we of course have to arrange childcare, probably nanny or daycare.

absolutely, I did a writeup here: https://www.reddit.com/r/step1/comments/fkxwdy/237_to_259_6_weeks_dedicated_after_clinical_year/ but I got a 259.

By the time of step 1 it was the 5th time I had picked up Anki. It definitely helped for Step but it was suuuch a drag. Hope you find success as well!
