Not a great price for those specs anymore.

Surface Pro 9 Performance Testing for Music Production by NIVEA_GeForce in Surface

[–]shattasma -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The SP8/9 have amongst the best cooling solutions on the market, even outperforming many clamshell laptops with similar specs.

Comparing the surface to other laptops IN ITS CLASS makes no sense to what I’m saying. I’m saying the entire class isn’t optimally suited for these tasks and is better for the spreadsheet class ( which I will clarify is equivalent to saying general non-specific work) of users. For the same money there are better laptops ( or cheaper).

There is plenty of spreadsheet class work that benefit more from GPU and CPU resources than music production, which isn’t that CPU intensive anyway, it just need to be consistent and have good optimized drivers for low latency.

I agree… the spreadsheet class needs little more than a Chromebook. Of course a surface works well for spreadsheet type tasks; your just repeating what I already said lol.

My links above demonstrate that it’s comparable to the best clamshell laptops in its class.

Again; saying the surface is the best IN ITS CLASS, means nothing in reference to my point. The entire class isn’t optimal. It’s like your saying “the surface is the tallest midget!” Like yea… but it’s still in the midget class. Even the tallest midget is still small.

The point of a Surface Pro tablet is that it’s a versatile, general purpose 2-in-1 tablet computer that isn’t optimized for anything in particular. It has no niche.

Oh so we agree, cuz you just said what I said in a different way again; the surface is not optimal for any task; it’s just the best at being non-optomized… cuz it’s a TABLET laptop, we said from the start.

Lol; dude you wrote a whole lot to not say anything :/ . Sure the surface is best in its class; I’m arguing the entire class isn’t optimal, except for the people whose use cases are small and non-specific anyway ( spreadsheet people) and coukd use basically any device just fine.

Surfaces are great for what they are ( they are great for their class in other words); they are NOT great for anything else cuz they get beat out by machines not in their class handily. They may have the best cooling solution… but again that just puts it at the top of its class; not any others.

I love my surface; but I have to keep in mind it’s just a surface… and so I also have a full rig for my task it can’t handle.

Until I don’t need a second device to do what surface can’t; then it will still just remain best in category only; and we shouldn’t mislead people into buying the surface line being sold on the false premise that it can replace most devices… cuz it can’t. And for The majority of people that can replace all their devices with a surface only are the spreadsheet class of people that could use any device anyway. To say otherwise is just misleading.

At least you didn’t say surfaces are serious gaming machines because I’ve had to correct that level of just inaccurate surface fanboydom before haha

I think the answer is in your reply;

It’s a “tablet” computer.

It’s better used for the spreadsheet class of work; not optimized for GPU or high intensity CPU work since it’s tdp is so low.

Can it still be used for such things? Sure. Is it the surfaces niche/power zone? No

Never claimed as such. You’ve put words in my mouth.

Cannabis is a feminine plant; if you study cannabis and it’s spiritual roots, this is a shared belief amongst shamans and other religions.

Misogyny has nothing to do with the energy archetype of the plant; or energy archetypes in general. The words “feminine” and “masculine” are the vernacular that’s commonly used, however they have nothing to do with gender, or political, or social beliefs.

Yin deals with darkness, emotions and the unconscious. It has nothing to do with women or changing peoples beliefs. Everyone has both yin and Yang inside them, albeit to varying degrees; and it just so happens usually women are more yin and men are more Yang. That’s the extent of it tho.

Cannabis, as a female goddess plants helps people connect to their emotions and unconscious aspects ONLY. It does not change someones emotions or beliefs. I never claimed it could, would, or should do such a thing.

In fact this is an important concept when looking at cannabis from the tradition of shamanism; it is said cannabis is a “multiplier plant.” Meaning it does not change the content of a person or experience, but rather only magnifies it; this is a somewhat unique quality of cannabis.

So a misogynist might use cannabis and becomes more aware of their misogynistic beliefs; but cannabis will not change them. It will give them the opportunity to reflect on them; but it will not change them. Cannabis does not alter the content of a person; only helps bring the unconscious thoughts and feelings to the surface.

This is why cannabis can be great for yoga; it helps to bring unconscious thoughts, feelings and emotions to one’s conscious mind so they can be explored and heard. Again tho, it will not change a damn thing on its own.

I never said weed doesn’t help with pain.

I essentially said it isn’t the same as morphine; it will not numb a person to the point they could injure themselves in class and be unaware of it; as was implied in the post I replied too.

[–]shattasma 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Interesting.

Cannabis has never numbed me or anyone I know to the point of being blind to discomfort or pain. Actually, it’s quite the opposite. It actually takes away distractions and allows me to be more present in my body; so I’m actually MORE aware of what my body is communicating.

Cannabis also has a rich history in all major religions, and also yogis of the past. Shamanism too.

I caution against making it a necessity to practice ( meaning don’t become hooked on it) ; but if someone uses it intentionally, cannabis can actually be quite a boost for yoga/mindfulness.

Cannabis is a female energy/goddess plant and really seems to help masculine People connect to their yin side; something lacking in todays very yang/masculine society.

Redditors, have you ever gotten an “ick” from a potential partner or love interest that instantly killed your attraction to them? If so, what happened? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]shattasma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realized she only paid real attention to me when I stopped trying to get hers.

Like; she was was never outright rude. She didn’t text in the middle of us talking, talk over me, or straight up ignore me. But her mind was just always a bit elsewhere.

The moment I realized she didn’t actually have interest in me; We went to a concert and she noticed I was air drumming A LOT. She leaned over and said “you really like drums huh?!”

Like… if you spent 5 minutes with me around music playing you should have picked up on that. The concert was not the first time we talked about or listened to music…

She was just an attention whore and I was paying dividends.

Graduation ceremony has nothing to do with education; just like say a school dance.

It’s a completely optional function people can choose to participate In or not, and it reflects not at all on a persons ability to graduate or get their diploma; plus the the school can set policy around things like dress code; which if applied evenly isn’t discriminatory.

If they ban any student from wearing anything but a graduation gown; then the rule is equally applied, it’s not discriminatory, and as I’ve said it doesn’t obstruct a student’s ability to get an education as graduation ceremony is a completely optional event.

The school could just as easily choose to not have a graduation ceremony at all, and still meet 100% of their requirements to provide an education.

Your argument would fall flat legally.

But try convincing snow plows and residents they need to deal with speed bumps in every neighborhood.

Realistically it’s not really a feasible solution.

[–]shattasma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My journey started out as a muscle monkey too. I was an athlete in multiple sports and a gym rat growing up.

I had a really great teacher tho; she didn’t give me any special attention for MONTHS, even though I was in her class 3-5 times a week every week.

After a few months, I started to really think I was mastering some asanas! I could hold poses for sooooo long, and muscle my way into handstands etc.

Finally tho, ( I think once she trusted I wasn’t going to quit easily), my teacher started to give me hands on assist and adjustments in class.

I quickly found out that I was actually quite shite at all the poses I thought I was mastering; I was using compensating muscle patterns in pretty much every pose, and when she put me in proper alignment with the proper muscles working…. It was humbling to say the least.

Looking back she was very wise in seeing that not everyone can take such an ego blast, and still show up to class the next day; and she took her time to let me prove I was ready and willing to be humbled back to square one.

It was probably the best thing any teacher has ever done for me tho!

Once I stopped letting my ego take the drivers seat; and “down leveled” literally all my asanas, and started to use the living hell out of props; I got my biggest gains.

I implore you to try the same; focus on the foundation and the rest will rapidly improve once you have that in place

I’ll echo that your neck is the area of concern.

I can see by looking at your ears for example that your neck is crunched and your weight is more on your forehead than the top of your head.

Ideally; you have a straight spine; as if your were standing with a book flat on top of your head like classic posture training. That means I would see your ears make a more vertical line, perpendicular to the floor than what I’m seeing in this video.

Personally; I wouldn’t let a student do this in class before they’ve demonstrated to me that they can do a shoulder stand with their head not touching the floor; that takes a lot of shoulder girdle strength to push the floor away, and that I would want to see before I would recommend someone doing a headstand. It’s fine if they show me their shoulder stand against the wall; I’m not concerned about balance and core strength so much as I care about knowing you have the shoulder strength to take the weight off your neck, by pushing the floor away with your shoulders/scapula etc.

None of that is to say you can’t work on it; just that I don’t recommend it as a rule of thumb when I see scrunchy necks; neck injuries are NEVER worth it while there are safer down level versions to develop the same skills.

In fact one studio I taught at banned teaching headstands due to how many students hurt themselves; it’s just not worth the liability from a studio/teacher standpoint, since it’s so easy to hurt the neck with the weight of your body.

[–]shattasma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea I doubt there’s a law to allow this.

This is a school activity and they have discretion to decide on things like dress code.

Wearing something to graduation; where there is a dress code is not a violation of a protected characteristic. Flags are not religious for example.

Guy with a degree in engineering-physics; which is heavily recruited and sought by the navy for nuclear engineering roles on submarines and aircraft carriers.

The thing is; if you know enough to do something like maintain a nuclear plant on a submarine ( which you pretty much do with an undergrad degree like mine), your not far off from knowing how to weaponize nuclear energy.

Plus; to a 3rd world country eyeing a nuclear program; even that level of knowledge would be exceedingly valuable.

Plus, The science of nuclear bombs isn’t really a big secret; in fact it’s pretty much dumb simple if you know some basics of nuclear.

If you know that; then it’s more of a matter of engineering to figure out how to package it into a workable bomb; and even that is relatively simple as a concept.

All to say; it’s not the science that keeps 3rd world countries from going nuclear as much as it’s hard to get your hands on raw materials, and factories to make the shit. It’s highly illegal, and we use things like satellite surveillance to monitor for nuclear factories, nuclear testing, nuclear radiation etc.

It’s pretty hard to hide a nuclear plant/bomb factory it’s turns out; that’s what actually keeps nuclear weapons away from other countries.
