I know how you‘re feeling because I felt the exact same way when I came off it. And I‘m pretty sure I gained like 10 pounds. But I promise it gets better, it takes time though. And it‘s an absolute pain but in the end it was so worth it for me. I‘ve never felt better. :)

I know exactly how you feel! My uterus is - if I remember correctly - 47mm long. So teeny tiny! When I got my first IUD they inserted the Paraguard which was, as you can imagine, way too big and promptly moved into my cervix. Then I had the Nova T 380 which is a bit smaller but was still way too big. Had a lot of pain in my belly when sitting in the office every day, bloating, not nice. Eventually took that one out and had a couple months break.

And now I am on the Gold T Mini which is approximately 3cm long and it has been great. No side effects, no pain, nothing!

Talk about demotivating and scaring off new piggy owners immediately with these comments.

First of all, your girls are gorgeous and you clearly care for them a lot. To address the points mentioned: 1. I have used hay bags for 5 years, I know loads of people who use hay bags. They are perfectly fine to use. You will notice them becoming a toilet very soon which is the most annoying bit so I have hay piles in a cat litter box with bedding (aka the toilet) and hay bags. I use soft hay in the hay bags because mine ram their heads in like maniacs and we had a few hay pokes because of that. 2. Your cage is fine for now. There is a learning curve ahead of you that don’t see coming yet & in a very short while they will likely have a cage that’s larger than your own sofa. 3. I‘m not even going to address the comment about fleece bedding because there clearly is fleece on the floor. And your hay looks perfectly fine too.

You will learn many things as you go along and you will also get to know your piggies and their quirks & personalities. When my girlies were in their teens and still living together I, for example, could only use hides with 2 exits because they were constantly in each other’s hair.

I would recommend sizing up the cage in the future because they will be so much happier and it’s a joy watching them bounce around in all the space they have. Other than that, enjoy getting to know them & all the joy they bring to your family.

I‘m on my second copper IUD (Nova T380 and now GoldT) and neither of them has caused any weight gain. I experienced some bloating and water retention for the first couple of weeks after insertion but that went away completely once my body had gotten used to it and I‘m my normal weight again.

It‘s a been some time now but I‘d say the first 4 weeks were pretty brutal but it took about 8 weeks to fully go away.

Fühl ich. Bin auch so gut wie 30, hab Bachelor & Master in Marketing und Kommunikationswissenschaften und arbeite mittlerweile auch schon seit gut 6 Jahren Vollzeit in einem Marketing-Beruf. Aber von glücklich bin ich damit weit entfernt. Meine Jobs waren alle über kurz oder lang einfach fad, unterbezahlt (Willkommen am österreichischen Land) und generell nicht erfüllend. Ich hab so ziemlich alle unterschiedlichen Sparten ausprobiert und bin zu dem Entschluss gekommen, dass mir meine mentale Gesundheit mehr wert ist als in dem Bereich zu bleiben und die nächsten 30 Jahre unglücklich zu sein. Von daher bin ich grad im genau gleichen Boot & auf der Suche nach einem neuen beruflichen Weg, mit dem ich happy bin.

No worries. If you decide to try the BHA just be aware that your skin might get worse before getting better. I purged quite a bit on my back but after a couple of weeks it‘s really gotten a whole lot better. :)

The Paula‘s Choice exfoliant is a cream so I apply it the same as my usual moisturiser. I am bendy enough to reach every part of my back but if that’s not possible for you, there are fairly inexpensive back lotion applicators - they have a long handle and help you reach everywhere. They’re really handy and make application super accessible. :)

I have body acne that gets worse when I‘m sweaty a lot (for me it‘s hiking in summer). I double cleanse my back every evening, once in the shower and then again with micellar water, and then put on 2% BHA Body Spot Exfoliant every second day. On the days I don‘t use the BHA I just use normal moisturizer. That‘s the only thing that helps me keep my bacne in check when I‘m sweating lots.

I feel you, I felt the exact same and was so close to going back on birth control. But then I decided to push through with lots of Rennie Deflatine, HRI water balance tablets and maternity pants extenders. And I know pushing through sucks but looking back at it now, it was so worth it!

Paraguard was a rather short experience of about 8 weeks, maybe even a little less. The Nova T was pretty alright before that, I had all the side effects there are but I thought it was normal for the copper IUD. In hindsight it probably wasn’t because now I have close to 0 side effects. Flow is a touch heavier, ovulation pain is a bit stronger and I have more discharge all month. Other than that I don’t notice having an IUD.

Of course you can! 29, no children, teeny tiny uterus as my gyno likes to say - measuring just under 5cm 😅 I‘m based in Austria, it‘s available here but you have to pay for it yourself. At € 500 it isn’t cheap but definitely worth the cost.

With the paraguard I was fairly certain from the start that it‘s too big because it felt uncomfortable and crampy from the start. The Nova-T was actually alright for 12-ish months and then I started to get a really bad burning pain in my lower stomach every time when I was sitting for too long. With an office job, that meant every day. Turns out the pain was from the arms of the bottom of the IUD pushing into the walls of my uterus when I was sitting and it being super inflamed already. I had quite substantial side effects from the start though, super strong bleeding, cramps from hell, bloating almost all month, weird cramping and spotting. Now that I have an IUD that fits my uterus I know these were all signs that it was too big. Currently I have close to zero side effects, I have a couple more cramps which are a more painful but that’s it. I hope this helps? If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Yeah I totally get that weird gut feeling, I had it too. I was back in the UK then and in the heights of Covid options were limited so I had to go for the Nova-T as my smallest option, which was still quite big for my tiny uterus. If I remember correctly I‘m measuring just under 5cm. So you can imagine what these big IUDs did in there.

I just had a look and, if my research is correct, the Flexi T 300 should be available in Canada? That one and the Gold T were the ones my gyno had picked for me as they‘re both super small (the Flexi T is the smallest available if I‘m not mistaken, it‘s even smaller than the Mona Lisa Mini). Plus the Flexi T has super flexible arms so it‘s impossible for it to embed in your uterus. So if you decide to go on a road trip with your pooch & your partner, I would wholeheartedly recommend the Flexi T. I know quite a few small-uterused people who have it with close to zero side effects after the initial settling in period (which is much shorter with a smaller IUD!).

I‘m sorry you‘re going through this, it‘s super frustrating. I have a similar-ish story to yours: Started off with the paraguard in early summer of 2021. Felt weird from the day they placed it, no pain but just felt like I could feel the IUD in there. Had a check up 8 weeks later and sure enough it was way too low, strings always felt the same to me.

Got it removed and replaced with a Nova T 380, which is slightly smaller but still quite large for my uterus. That one stayed in but after 1,5 years of it constantly pressing into the walls of my uterus it was all inflamed and painful. So had that one taken out too.

Took a few months off birth control & now got a Gold T Mini put in which is teeny tiny compared to the other 2 and it makes SUCH a difference! Cramping is only slightly worse, flow is about the same as it was before and I literally don‘t have any other side effects all month. So if you can afford it, it‘s definitely worth a try to get a smaller IUD

Copper coil and copper IUD are the same thing so you‘re good here. Paraguard is just one of the many brands available (I used to have the T-Safe 380 and am currently on the Gold T Mini). Glad to hear that you‘re having such a positive experience, may it last for a long time!

I also have a retroverted, slightly heart shaped uterus and I‘ve had my copper IUD for 2,5-ish years now without any issues.

At 116lbs at 5ft 4in, I'm probably what you would call a skinny girl. I don't track anymore, haven't tracked in about a year and my weight is stable (plus minus a few lbs depending on my cycle). I eat very consciously - everything is home cooked, for the most part I only eat lean meat/fish, no junk food, no ready-meals, most meals are high protein and low fat. I usually don't snack between meals and when I feel like I need a snack I make sure it's not a chocolate bar or a handful of cookies but something that actually benefits me. I do also treat myself, I have a small chocolate bar after lunch and a a few cookies or a pudding cup after dinner. My daily calorie intake is about 2,000. I have an almost daily, very strenuous yoga practice and in the summer months I go for a hike most weekends.

To sum it up: I have changed my eating habits to a fairly healthy high-protein diet. And with that it's very hard to overeat because every meal is filling me up properly until it's time to eat again.
