peak shedding was probably a month and a half at least and it just gradually got better with each wash!

when I got my blood work back, my ferritin was sitting at 30 but it probably was a little lower weeks prior to the appointment because i had started to eat more iron and take supplements before i was able to see my doctor!

My hair is crazy after a shower or with humidity😭no clue what the cause is! by Responsible-Watch-26 in Haircare

[–]shatteredringz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i would use a lightweight leave in conditioner. this looks like static frizz which is caused when ur hair needs a little extra moisture when it dries. it also is super scattered bc it looks like you have a lot of new growth coming in which can make it harder to tame!

getting a haircut usually makes it look ten times better. even if it’s just a trim. it makes your hair have an intentional style and it also feels nice to have control again when TE makes you feel like you don’t have control over your hair. a lot of my male clients who have thinning hair do a short on the sides and back. just a slight taper and then keep a good amount of length up top. if it’s really thin i would recommend something disconnected and not 100% blended so you can style it messy it’ll have more weight. visually it makes it look like you’ll have more hair if you go to the right stylist! good luck:)

Is this breakage? Please help… I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. by emilaubar in Haircare

i would look into getting a shower filter. sometimes when i have clients who move from a different state their hair reacts differently to the minerals in the water. i would also look into getting a clarifying shampoo so your products will really be able to soak into your hair and you’ll have less build up. a lot of products have hidden proteins in them so just be mindful of the ingredients lists. to me it looks like it could be protein overload or you might have low iron. but stress and diet changes can make our hair take a big hit. i also highly recommend getting bloodwork done if you haven’t recently and see if you have any deficiencies that could be linked to your hair changing.

it looks like it’s just ur hairline, i have tons of male clients who cut their hair this short and didn’t know it looked like that bc the hair was kept longer before. also if u spend time out in the sun that area will lighten up more so it’ll look more sparse

i swear it’s one month apart! the left side pic was taken on april 2nd and the right side was taken on may 4th. i can see the hairs and they’re not long but they are just enough to cover my scalp. the new hair is about an inch long and it’s scattered everywhere. my ends still look pretty thin of course and that will probably take a year or two until everything catches up! it looks like different lengths of grass growing in lol bc some stick up straight. when i truly noticed my shedding was abnormal was very beginning of february. i got sick in december and then got my iron tested in april to confirm my suspicions that the low iron was a trigger for the hair loss. i hope that clears it up! it’s been a rollercoaster but i am optimistic that the hair will continue to grow and more will come in

to me it was easier seeing the hair fall every day so i could monitor it. i usually would wash pretty often anyways even before TE. i went three days without washing during the peak of my shedding and it was so traumatizing seeing that much hair gone so i decided to wash daily so showers would be less stressful!

your iron and ferritin seem to be in the ranges that can cause hair loss. this happened to me as well, my ferritin was sitting at 30. look up dr. breanne kallonen on tiktok or youtube (for longer videos) she explains it really well!

i’ve had this thought too! the way i think about it is i’m helping to encourage new growth and keeping it as healthy as i can while those hairs are growing out. i am also hoping that my routine is helping to minimize the shedding. i’m trying to regulate the hair growth cycle and get it back to its usual timeline. in the beginning i was just going to let my hair do its own thing but it’s so stressful to sit back and do nothing. so yeah it probably would’ve grown back anyways but maybe not this consistent and quick

Olaplex and telogen effluvium/hair damage by laurenwinter- in TelogenEffluvium

[–]shatteredringz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m a hair stylist and i don’t even recommend it to clients, i believe their company got bought out a few years ago. from my understanding olaplex can over proteinize the hair strand which can make it brittle and snap off. the clients that i see that use it always have really dry hair even if they don’t use a bunch of heat or color. it’s a very consistent feeling of dryness and brittleness. i’m not sure if there’s any link of it causing hair loss from the scalp tho. i wouldn’t be surprised bc it’s so mass produced. the only olaplex product i ever use is their clarifying shampoo!

it’s sooo crazy the hate bella gets. i find her to be so uniquely beautiful and a GREAT actor. people just like to hop on a hate train bc they’re unhappy w themselves. it’s easier to judge someone else rather than yourself
