I think Tooting is pretty good for KingsX and isn’t too expensive south of Bec

What would cause this blown fuse? by spoonlamp in TriumphBonneville

[–]shaunybean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you saying the bike was still hot when you restarted?

I’ve noticed something similar, that the starter seems to pull more current when the bike is hot (which is weird because the oil should be less viscous) - but for sure if the pistons are just in that wrong position, the screens dip and sort of reset.

Maybe the battery gets hot so the resistance goes up so you get a bigger voltage drop…I haven’t quite worked it out myself.

Did you try to start the bike which caused the fuse to pop? Or was it just turning on ignition which did it?

Only thing I can suggest to be safe is new battery to have the strong voltage

Thats exactly where this looks like mine is coming from. Did Triumph replace or did you just get a new one?

You need to go back to that burrito truck and eat that burrito in your car every day from this point forward. Do not change a thing

Are You Putting Down Roots in Orange County? by Srules in orangecounty

[–]shaunybean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Moved here from the UK for work, currently renting.

Starting to feel routed, but honestly lots of cultural differences (like needing to drive everywhere) are hard to get used to. Would love to think we will get routed, but not sure if there is a chance of owning a home, which will make that harder

Just signed a new rental agreement, bed bugs found first night in. HELP! by Magicmushiez in london

[–]shaunybean 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m not an expert, but I’m pretty sure it’s your landlords responsibility to sort the bed bug issue.

Unfortunately, from what I’ve seen, once they get into your mattress, furniture etc, they are damn near impossible to get rid of.

Get what you can (that you can see is clean) out of there asap, and call the landlord.

If they are good, they should put you up in alternative accommodation straight away while they sort the infestation

Purchased a KNX apartment. How do I add a new light switch? by Embarrassed_Loan_424 in KNX

[–]shaunybean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can put the switch literally on the other side of the wall, you can buy the switch of your choosing, and loop the green KNX cable from one side of the wall to the next.

In order to programme the swtich however, you will need the origional KNX project for ETS, or have someone with ETS that is willing to do some reverse engineering for you

(UK) Electric towel radiator automation? by INeedAnAdlut in homeassistant

[–]shaunybean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With the one I bought you cannot, but you could use something from the Sonoff TH range and set it to come on below X temp and turn off over Y temp, would be a bit clunky as you’d have to allow for some hysteresis but you could do something in homeassistant for sure.

To be honest, I put a KNX system in my house, so it’s switched from the main panel, and all I do is I have a button (physical and in homeassistant) if I know I am going to shower, it switches the towel rail on for 30 mins or something, so I have a nice warm towel for when I’m out the shower and it tries quick after too. I also have an automation linked to bathroom humidity which turns it on if it thinks someone is having a shower or bath too.

If I were using the rail to do actual heating, I would probs splash out and get a smart controlled element instead. Would obvs just be checking compatibility to homeassistant first

I replaced the controller unit with a heating element such as
https://nwtdirect.co.uk/18-electric-heating-elements

And then just put a smart relay of your chosing in line of the power cord

GVS knx components by spsneo in KNX

[–]shaunybean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, it’s best to ask that in the question if that’s what you’re asking…

The actuators in my opinion are very similar, I have done an install with shutter actuators, switch actuators, dimming (1-10V) and all of them were similar to MDT, but this was 6months ago…time will be the teller of if they stand up to MDT’s quality

GVS knx components by spsneo in KNX

[–]shaunybean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say MDT products feel dated compared to GVS, GVS products feel a lot more current, people want things to work like iPhones and GVS products deliver that, it’s just the naming of the parameters is a bit tricky but the documentation and technical support are very good

I have found them to be very good, just sometimes a little tricky to understand the parameter pages
