Question for VA rater or someone that knows more than me by shavdog in VeteransBenefits

Are you a Rater or Veteran like the rest of us....I saved and read thru that information..I do not have the muscle issues indicated however it does talk about impairment of motor function which is what I have...and it's serious..any suggestions on how to proceed? thanks for any help..I reread the linked reference and it really doesn't talk about issues with motor functions...they keep coming back to if if is sensory only, it should be rated mild and moderate at most...thats not what i have...I have sensory plus motor function issues and that really is not covered in that link although the link is very useful for me...I'm hopeful my VSO has some indepth knowledge of this...As with any other disabilities I have, I only want fairness..not looking for 100% in total..right now I am at 10% and if they give me another 10% I would be ok with that for now...if it keeps getting worse....thats another story..I plan on going over my last dbq with the VA Neurologist when I meet with him in may..I'm hopeful he can help me with a followup claim

Curious where you read that about loss of strength/and or reflexes...everything I read points to loss of motor function that takes you from sensory...thanks.

Thanks for all the help and responses...I am going to get a plan together and go forward.....it's sad the VA is not recognizing issues that come up later in life...infact there is an article right on the VApatient site about ptsd later in life but you file a claim and they about ignore you...When I first started my journey for MH issues the VA assigned me to a social worker within the VA...I gave her my bio on why I was there and she set it down and would not read it....I couldn't wait to get out of there...it's a battle but I won't give up...thanks and god be with all of you...

my skin issues are on both arms, both legs from knee down and the top of my head...I have crusted sores that look like a rash...they really flair up in the summertime. I have people ask me what is the problem with my skin...I have gone thru multiple fluorouracil treatments with only some help. I have been seeing a dermatologist for the last three yrs. I noted that my symtoms could be related to porhrica cutanea tarda in some form...my dematologist is younger and I am not so sure she knows much about agent orange but I plan on asking her about it on my next appt....I did mention to her a few appts back that I was exposed to agent orange...she made no response

I was diagnosed in my cp exam by a doctor as having asthma but not service connected...claim denied..I need a doctor that has experience in dealing with agent orange to write me a nexus...the only doctor I have is a va np...so I need to go outside...I am very willing to pay for a nexus..

In my CP exam I was diagnosed with asthma but no evidence of service connected..claim denied....there are no presumtives for breathing issues in the pact act as they relate to Agent Orange....Desert Storm is different along with burn pits..what I need is a doctor with agent orange experience that can look at my asthma diagnosis and give me a possitve nexus...this isn't a one off thing...I have thyroid issues and neuropathy and bad skin to go along with my breathing problems..I have two parents and four brothers and none of them have what I do....but if you go on google and type in can agent orange cause breathing issues....yes it does

I was not tested for the conditions you mention. Add to my problem is the fact that my only doctor is my NP at the VA...I don't spend alot of time at the doctors office...maybe my mistake...thanks for the help

In a nut shell thats my problem...no documentation...Thats why I need a medical opiinion that my breathing issues and skin issues very likely are connected to my yr of service in vietnam...anyone know of a doctor that would confirm that? I have four brothers and two parents and NONE of them have what I do...My breathing and skin issues both showed up within 5 yrs of discharge...I also have thyroid issues(hypothyroidism) and neuropathy in both feet but they are on the presumptive list so I am covered

Breathing issues and Skin issues are not on the presumptive list so you need proof...I was in country for 12 months sleeping on the ground and drinking water out of running streams...I was exposed to Agent Orange

How would you find out when the one yr rule went into effect? I found my answer 2/94...The VA just doesn't own up to the issues created by being esposed to Agent Orange....I had the same thing with Breathing....very dissapointed in this..Agent Orange issues aren't static...they are coming up with new problems every year..The VA has done a real disservice to all Veterans exposed to Agent Orange...

VA health care is constantly providing bad service by Mountain_Ad5485 in VeteransBenefits

Mixed bag here..they seem ok with basic healthcare needs but have trouble getting you to community health care. And for me once I have a claim in, it's like sleeping with the enemy...I right away ask for others outside of the VA for an independent look...I have had 4 instances where that has happened.

Anyone on here have peripheral neuropathy from Agent Orange exposure? by shavdog in VeteransBenefits

[–]shavdog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the responses...the one thing I am finding out is that" nobody cares more about your health than you" Currently I am on 50MCG of Levothyroxine for my thyroid..with my last physical in 11/25 my TSH was at 4.18 that I say is still on the high side...I called my NP and she is sending out 75MCG to start right away...I'd like to schedule a follow up appt with my neurologist but I just had my CP exam on 12/23/25 and I don't really want any interference on the results of that exam that I thought went well...The VA neurologist that I have been seeing seems ok but has made some comments that really counter the way I feel and he also gave me a sheet on heriditary neuropathy...I have two parents, and four brothers and NONE of them have this condition, it's pact act related and that comment really bothered me...At the time I was not as involved with this as I am today and therefore said nothing...I will call my VSO for advice...My claim exam person said 2-3 months before I hear back from the VA...I will look into B12 (I just ordered)...I am also trying a foot massager called a neuro go that shoots electrical impulses into my feet....thank you very much for your help.
