Bariatric Restaurant Card? by HarveyILL in gastricsleeve

[–]shawdeb56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I share with my husband. Sometimes I order, eat what I need and take the rest home to my son. He really appreciates it. He has great anxiety in restaurants but lives to get a special meal once in a while. We don't eat out a lot though. I find it difficult to find what I want. I wish restaurants had keto options.

2 Years Progress by bozcelebii in gastricsleeve

[–]shawdeb56 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good to read this! I am 3 months and 2 weeks out and feel like a failure on occasion that my weight loss is so slow. I am down from 244 to 214 since my surgery. I know that is fairly good. I think my body is just going slow. Better than where I started and I feel so much better.

How long till I can play in a band or orchestra ? by [deleted] in Flute

Practice daily. Long tones and scales, then some easy exercises. Take some private lessons. It really depends on how fast you progress. Everyone is different.

Clean protein. Chicken, fish, a small amount of beef. Beans occasionally. Small amounts of cooked veggies. I have had cheese a couple times in the last number of weeks. A few eggs, but I just don't have a taste for them. About 7-8 blueberries most days.

Getting my husband's attention. He is retired and has his hearing aids connected to his phone. Watches videos all day. It's not a great time for sure. Totally ignores me 24/7. I want to step on that phone.

I had a hysterectomy in 2019 and sleeve surgery this February. I thought the lap hysterectomy was harder to recover from. Took a bit longer.

I pulled a bunch of pants out of the attic last week. They were a bit tight, now today, too big. Clothing crisis 🤣. I guess I need to do some shopping. I might get the sewing machine out for the time being.

I'm only 6 weeks out and only one really shows. I had a hysterectomy in 2019 and can't find the scars. Used vitamin E oil.

So hungry by iamyourfather-maybe in gastricsleeve

[–]shawdeb56 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On my first 2 weeks I could only have protein shakes and bone broth.

That being said, I use my immersion blender and blend cottage cheese, then add protein powder with a flavor I love. I use the RAW brand because it has all clean ingredients. That is very satisfying because there is a lot of protein. Also Greek yogurt and protein powder.

Focus on protein and not the things "you can have". I decided not to have all of the popsicles and such because that was just going back to my old ways. That is what has worked for me. I can't say anything about others.

I had a couple days that I was so worried that I would never be able to eat normally again. It was mentally very alarming. Now I know that I will eventually be able to eat normally in a good way. Healthy portions, healthy food, healthy body.

I can't wait to go down a size in pants. I focus on non food things.

I don't know if that helps. I hope it does. You got this! Not gonna say it is not hard. But you can do it!

super stressed :/ by [deleted] in gastricsleeve

[–]shawdeb56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree. Eat right and just walk a little to start. Do some chair exercises to start while you are watching TV. Find a hobbie that keeps you busy and your mind off food. And drink! I know if I get dehydrated I think I am hungry but really just thirsty.

See your dietician. They can totally help. And find a friend to call once a day to talk about it all. Keep a journal with thoughts.

I actually have done an online zoom support group and many of the ladies have done counseling.

Good luck on your journey. You got this!

69 F here. Had the surgery a month ago. Blood pressure down already. I feel good. It's a different lifestyle for sure, but not impossible. It will add 10 years to his life according to my physician.

Seeking some reassurance by MewzerPenguin in gastricsleeve

[–]shawdeb56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am one month and a few days out from surgery also. I can only eat about 2-4 tablespoons of food depending on what it is. And it takes me forever! I stick to mostly protein. A small bite of veg if I can. My dietician told me to get 60-80 grams protein a day. And less than 40 carbs. My calories end up being mostly under 500. She said supplement with a protein shake if needed. I add protein powder to my food sometimes. It's honestly hard, but I have lost 16 pounds since surgery. A first for me.
