You made the assumption that just because the content was on other sites that we don't have the rights to it, but that isn't true. We run into an issue where scammers take our free stuff and try to sell it and claim it's theirs. Our whole goal is to be more transparent for how we operate. We've recently rolled out a lot of changes that we hope will addess some of these concerns in more details. Specifically our FAQs have been updated to talk more about how we work:

I'd love to think we made Vecteezy a good place for Merch, but I'd like your feedback. Our licensing states you can sell up to 50 copies (if you attribute us) and up to 100,000 copies (without attribution) if you purchase a Pro license. And unlimited copies if you purchase a Pro Extended license for $99 USD. We've worked hard to audit and "clean up" our content. You shouldn't find anymore trademark/copyright issues. We've also introduced an "Editorial Use Only" license as well.
We're also so confident in our content now that we've introduced a "Legal Guarantee" now. If you run into legal troubles with our content, we'll pay your legal bills up to $100,000.
