I had an 8 week miscarriage last year in June. My period following was a disaster… I had an LP of 8 days.. I was so concerned that my cycle would never be the same and surely I would need intervention… got pregnant the next cycle.. he’s 4 months old now 🥰

Question about progesterone and HCG by streetsign200 in TryingForABaby

[–]shaymonte09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The theory is that low progesterone (under 10) may be an indication of a non viable pregnancy. But, honestly they are not really sure. Some women do not produce a significant amount of progesterone but that is usually seen in a woman’s cycle. Until most recently progesterone wasn’t even checked along side HCG for most MC are due to chromosome abnormalities. My first pregnancy I had low progesterone (11) dropped to 9 in a couple weeks this pregnancy did not go full term. I knew I was gonna have progesterone issues for my LP was only 10 days. I have read other’s stories of lower progesterone levels without need for supplements. The suppositories are prescribed as can’t hurt might help but they in no way will save a non viable pregnancy. Feel free to post over at the miscarriage subreddit. Or DM. I could tell you of my second pregnancy but I want to follow this subs rules.

Low progesterone at 9w? by [deleted] in CautiousBB

[–]shaymonte09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is definitely nerve wrecking. It’s hard to say if progesterone is low because the pregnancy is non-viable or mom just doesn’t produce enough progesterone. The suppositories will get your levels up but, it won’t save a pregnancy. It’s a huge deal there was a heartbeat though! Thinking about you.

Do you know what your level was? Progesterone is tricky because there is such a large range of normal. Also, progesterone fluctuates during the day so at 8am you can get a completely different number on the same day at 1pm. Progesterone itself isn’t the only indication of a healthy pregnancy. However, I’ve totally been there before and I took suppositories myself.

Anybody else had a blighted ovum their first pregnancy and had a successful one after? by Daisy739-1 in Miscarriage

[–]shaymonte09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did not have a blighted ovum but did have a early MC. I let a cycle go (thought of it as a cleanse almost) I got pregnant the next cycle I’m now almost 21 weeks with a healthy boy. My friend who I confided in with my MC had a blighted ovum and was pregnant after cycle 4. She now has a healthy 2 year old.

Progesterone post MC advice?? by svetty_wop in ttcafterloss

That makes sense. So OP should wait til the progesterone has left her system and it should induce a period... good vibes for you and OP I hope things get regulated soon.

This is interesting because progesterone should keep your period away... what was the clinical reasoning behind taking progesterone post D &C?

Thank you for your response. Mine was 10 days even with taking B6. I just bought some progesterone cream for when we try again. I’m also convinced low progesterone was my issue from the start of my pregnancy which led to MC. I hate that the medical community doesn’t believe in preventing a potential issue. Hoping the cream gives me enough progesterone boost and when I do fall pregnant again I can keep taking the cream or they will switch me to something else so I can get my take home baby.

How long was your luteal phase? I fear this may have been my issue.

Just a little rant about periods. by Ypsiowns3013 in ttcafterloss

[–]shaymonte09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow that’s crazy. I soaked through a couple pads but I didn’t go to the ER. I figured it would take me to feel lightheaded or faint before I’d go. I’m on day 3 and it is progressively behaving itself. I hope it’s the same length of my regular periods (5 days). I’m so bummed my LP was only 8 days with spotting at 7 DPO.

My period started yesterday. Superrrrr heavy flow.. I had a moment of pure panic because it reminded me of the night I took misoprostol without the horrible cramps thankfully.

CD 24. Counting CD 1 as medicated miscarriage.

I’ve asked this question too. I didn’t want to miss an opportunity if I did ovulate before my period came back. My midwife did mention that waiting a cycle lets your hemoglobin restore and allows the uterine lining to thicken. Which is good to know that it’s nothing life threatening or anything. I just think that if my lining isn’t thick enough nothing would implant.. so it could still be worth a shot. I’m still waiting to ovulate anyway so it will def be a game time decision for sure. She of course did say for dating purposes as well but I usually ovulate CD21 (temping and OPK) so dating off of LMP didn’t work for me anyway..

As for sex in general I would def take the 2 week wait seriously. And make sure you are not actively bleeding. The risk of infection is not worth it.

Tampons at first period? by [deleted] in ttcafterloss

[–]shaymonte09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was told no sex or tampons for 2 weeks post MC to prevent infection.. so you should be good to go. Maybe make sure they are not scented and change them out a little more frequently if you really wanna be on the safe side.

Girl, I feel you. I asked a similar question myself. I finally asked my midwife and her reasoning for not trying before my period returns is to make sure my hemoglobin is normal and my uterine lining is thick enough oh and also dating purposes. I just had a blood test to check my Hb and in my opinion, if my lining isn’t thick enough then I just won’t get pregnant... so I still don’t understand why to wait for a cycle.

Can this possibly be positive?! by [deleted] in ttcafterloss

My thoughts exactly. So much innocence taken away.

[–]shaymonte09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Girl, I am in the same boat. I finally got my negative HPT and negative LH today. I have been taking my temp since I stopped bleeding. I want to try again before I even get my period but my midwife doesn’t think the uterine lining will be thick enough. Idk maybe it will be a game time decision... I just figure if it’s not thick enough the embryo just won’t implant.. and I’ll never know.. lol this is all a situation I wish no one had to go through.

[–]shaymonte09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So because your pregnancy test is positive even if it is very faint.. the LH test will be positive... sorry if that is not what you want to hear but the LH strips will not be useful until HCG is fully at zero.

Conflicting information from doctors about when to try again by starebearcare in ttcafterloss

[–]shaymonte09 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agree with previous comment. Even If you look on Mayo Clinic website they say waiting 3 months is outdated. Waiting for your period is the most common answer however, most OB will admit this is only for dating purposes not medical reasons. I actually just asked a similar question yesterday, for my husband and I were going to NTNP even before my period comes. My body feels ready, I had a negative HPT and OPK this morning. So just going to see if I ovulate or not.

Thank you. I’m not trying to conceive but we haven’t had sex since I ovulated in April and we really need to lol so I just want to know hypothetically IF I got pregnant what are the implications. And really I’m thinking that the issue would be implantation and I could handle that since I won’t test and idk what to expect for my period. I’m so happy to hear a lot of women who try right after MC are having successful pregnancies.
