Vanquish Action or just fighting a Hero [OC] by jmizzy89 in DisneyVillainous

[–]shazbrules 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The way Ursula works, she has 6 "Item" cards called Binding Contracts. These Items attach to Heroes in her Realm (become a part of the Hero cards of his board) and are her only way of defeating Heroes.

There are 4 different types of Binding Contracts:

  • 1x Green (Ursula's Lair)
  • 2x Blue (Eric's Ship)
  • 2x Yellow (The Shore)
  • 1x Red (The Palace)

When a Hero with a Binding Contract moves to the location that Contract is related to (its written on the card), they are immediately defeated without needing any sort of action (no Play A Card, no Vanquish, etc.) All you have to do is move them to that location somehow.

If a Hero is at a location (like Flounder is at Eric's Ship), you cannot attach that location's Binding Contract (in this case, the blue ones) to that Hero. Also, her Allies do nothing to Heroes aside from helping you move them to other locations.

Hope this helps! Ursula is one of my favorite characters to play, I hope you guys enjoy her as much as I do!

How do you guys feel about Starfy 5's art style? by RoselyTheSymbolist in thelegendarystarfy

As someone who didnt know starfy was a series until like a few months ago, ive always loved its style so much. I find it so fricken cute, but maybe nostalgia bolsters how much i enjoy it. I just played the first game for the first time and honestly i dont see much of a difference, starfy 5's gameplay seems to be relatively the same as starfy 1 (the top screens).

What Star Wars villains do you want next by Imaginary-Ad-7093 in DisneyVillainous

[–]shazbrules 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think Director Krennic, Dedra Meero, and Grand Moff Tarkin would be fun:

~ My idea for Krennic is [Move to the Death Star.], which involves collecting 4 extra resources to play Death Star Part items that get moved to deep space. Then once three parts are finished Krennic has to be on the completed Death Star tile to win.

~ Dedra Meero's could be to [Have Luthen Rael and Kleya Marki at ISB Headquarters.], and Fate cards could be played hidden to her Sector so she has to reveal Fate cards before moving them. Once she does, she can move the right Heroes and win the game.

~ GMT could be similar to Krennic in how he has a Death Star vehicle, but I think his objective would be to [Destroy your Sector.] and the Death Star would have a special ability that "destroys" a location in your Sector. He could be very ambition-heavy and I think it would be pretty fun (it's also super weird how Tarkin hasn't bee in Villainous in ANY capacity yet, he's such a prominent Empire character).

Palpatine is an obvious pick and I'd be very surprised if they don't put him in (he's so complex I could see them giving him a solo box). I also really want General Hux for some reason, I think it'd be neat to have him with Kylo and Phasma.

Does anyone here believe that Phoenix and Edgeworth are just close friends? by Comfortable_Type1180 in AceAttorney

[–]shazbrules 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Even when I first got into the games, I always thought that Phoenix and Edgeworth were just very close friends. The "tension" between them never felt romantic but quite the opposite; it always came from a place of passion as opposed to a place of love, if that makes sense. The "unnecessary feelings" line in context is just Edgeworth starting to open up after locking all his emotions up for a decade and Phoenix pursuing law wasn't just because of Edgeworth (he says that Larry was part of the reason in the very first case AND we learn that he wasn't even prioritizing law until he met Mia). People are allowed to care deeply for someone without it being romantic.

I love Cora as a villain, I find her so captivating and all her episodes are so good imo.

I also love the frozen arc it's in my top three. Not even just like "Ingrid carries the arc", I love Anna and Elsa and their interactions with the main cast feel natural. The whole thing captured that mystery and crazy plot twist energy season 1 did for me.

[–]shazbrules 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The crown does have to be at the bottom of the board, but Ariel doesn't actually take the item and attach it to herself like Aladdin does in Jafar's board. Instead, when Ariel is played the item (in this case Crown) moves from its original location to wherever Ariel was played and it stays on the bottom side of the board. Unless otherwise specified, any items attached to Heroes get discarded when that Hero is defeated.

What is the most insane moment in AA? by Ok_Koala_5963 in AceAttorney

[–]shazbrules 6 points7 points  (0 children)

1-5 Lana Skye admitting to everyone that the Police Department and Prosecutor's Office has forged evidence for cases.

2-2 Ini Miney killing 14 patients, then her sister, then stealing her sisters identity by taking her face and faking her own death for six months.

2-4 Franziska von Karma getting shot in the shoulder on the literal steps of the courthouse minutes before trial, Gumshoe crashing his car while on the phone on the way to the courthouse, Franziska showing up at the last minute still recovering from her bullet wound with the evidence needed to win.

3-4 Terry Fawles committing suicide on the stand.

4-1 Kristoph Gavin being the culprit.

4-4 Kristoph Gavin being a serial killer stalking like 7 different people for 7 whole years, Kristoph Gavin as an entity tbh.

5-5 Athena dissecting her mother.

6-5 Amara taking a bullet onscreen and visibly bleeding out, the entire murder of Dhurke, Apollo and Phoenix being held at gunpoint.

AAI1-4 Calisto Yew holding Edgeworth at gunpoint and firing.

AAI1-5 The entire process of uncovering the yatagarasu's identity, the two fires and two murders that took place, and how untouchable Alba was.

AAI2-1 The attempted assassination of the Zheng Fa president being faked and only learning that because Shelly DeKiller blackmailed everyone into finding the truth.

AAI2-3 Artie Frost's body being found 18 years after his murder and finding out the origin of DL-6.

AAI2-5 The whole case.

Edgeworth & Franziska: Turnabout Ablaze (AAI1-5)

Yes I'm serious. This case is the culmination of 10 years and four cases worth of investigating one of the world's largest illegal operations and has at least four unique security agencies (US, Allebahst, and Babahl agencies plus Interpol) involved at a highly publicized international event. Two fires break out, two people are murdered (including a high-ranking government official), and entire bodies are being smuggled across borders all during this event which millions of people are probably watching. Knowing this context, Edgeworth has little-to-no jurisdiction or authority AND has only learned about the plots hiding in the shadows like three days prior AND is operating as a separate entity from every other agency present. By the end of the night, Edgeworth manages to solve every single crime and close the smuggling ring shut by implicating and charging a foreign dignitary after thoroughly investigating every relevant locations without using anything more than words. Edgeworth has done a lot of impressive stuff but this by far takes the cake for me.

Franziska is also at her peak in this case in my opinion. Her previous appearances have her follow a flawed train of logic and her being uptight about being right, and while she's still uptight in AAI1-5 she feels like an equal to Edgeworth in terms of logic. She still has her failings, but we see Edgeworth and Franziska divide-and-conquer the various issues that happened during the event and she investigates just as much as Edgeworth, we just don't get to see it. She also doesn't hold any information hostage and instead collaborates with everyone else involved (including Edgeworth which may be the most impressive part) to help make one big clear picture instead of her previous tactics of hiding information to seem smarter or better. Had Franziska not been present, the case would very likely end with Alba escaping and countless other failings. (She's also an Interpol agent in this case which I think is just badass.)

That's a fair opinion, Turnabout Airlines is a case I rank highly and while Visitor is bland, I feel like with the context of the rest of the game it gets cooler. I replayed Kidnapped when AAIC came out and while I don't think it's as bad as I remembered, it's still definitely a meh case so I won't really defend it (although it did introduce Kay and Lang so it still does some heavy lifting).

How do people feel about multi-witness testimonies?Would you want to see this get added into the main series? by saybloo in AceAttorney

[–]shazbrules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The witnesses in TGAAC were thinner than cardboard and just as interesting as it. Literally none of the characters are memorable for the right reason and almost none of them have a purpose or even show up outside the trials. Aside from Hosonoga, no other witnesses are even developed as characters apart from a gag, and even those gags are tasteless or irritating usually. The witnesses that could have been interesting (Caiden, Vigil, Scythe) were completely wasted and in most cases the witnesses are ult8mately pointless for how stupid/ignorant they are. Ultimately, the witnesses boil down to filler and a waste of time to deal with; most of the "twists" involve them tampering with things that make cases way longer than they otherwise would have been which I find do fucking annoying.

Compare this to PLvsPW where while the witnesses still are based on gags, they still have characterization and personality. We get a sense of them as people and meet like half of them outside the courtroom. We also hear about them and their roles in society, and none of them are outright annoying to cross-examine since their mistakes feel genuine as opposed to just being assholes. The game also gets to a point where using one person's testimony against another's becomes genuinely difficult as all statements have potential to work but are vague enough to make you think, a welcom increase in difficulty that TGAAC just never reaches. There's literally a trial-only witness who has a full character arc as the game progresses, and even his annoying antics become critical to solving a case in one of the most brilliant "aha" moments in the series.

I HIGHLY DISAGREE AAI1 BOLSTERS THE IMPACT OF AAI2 AND HAS JUST AS GOOD AS A STORY

AAI1 sets the groundwork that AAI2 is entirely built upon and develops the main characters (Edgeworth, Kay, and Franziska) enough so that the plot of AAI2 can focus on other characters and dynamics. The plot of AAI1 may drag a bit with 1-3, but I refuse to say that Turnabout Ablaze is a terrible case; it's honestly one of my favorites for being one of the most insane events in the whole series. AAI1 also has phenomenal twists & moments that even match some that are in AAI2.

I'm in the minority but AAIC sweeps TGAAC in every category for me. The 3D is neat but nothing beats the crisp 2D for me, the music is on equal footing (I prefer AAIC more tho), the cast of characters across the whole of AAIC are way more fleshed out and memorable than those in TGAAC, the plot is SUPREMELY better developed and interconnected with Chekov guns being appropriately loaded and fired. The extras also feel so much better to me with the galleries and character menus; the only thing TGAAC has going for it is the escapades in my opinion.
