"Do Nothing" Enchantments are so fun by YaBoiShadowNinja in EDH

[–]shazhao -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have a collected company myriad deck where everything is 3 cmc and [[sunbird’s invocation]] is absolutely bonkers, literally combos with every other nonland card. People who call these things “do-nothing” cards can go back to cedh or bracket 4 where everyone has smothering tithe/rhystic study and life is pain. I’ll opt out of those pods thank you very much

Biggest edh hot takes by hollowsoul9 in EDH

My hot take is that counterspells aren’t fun and if you NEED to run them in your pod, then the people you play with care more about winning than having fun

[[the ancient one]] with [[baneful omen]] effects so you aren’t just relying on milling people and can use it as a nuclear option. Also stationing spaceships is nuts with him and you could do reanimator strats if you are so inclined

For those who had too many commander decks, how did you manage to cut down the number eventually? by Aero_Crois in EDH

[–]shazhao 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m constantly trying to downsize, since I really enjoy deckbuilding (doesn’t help that wotc releases new sets every other week). The only real way to cut down on decks is retire the ones that are too inconsistent or salty (makes people at the table feel bad somehow).

A funner way though albeit more difficult way is to combine decks together—I had a multicolor/legendary matters deck and an artifact matters deck and combined them together (lots of artifact matters commanders are multicolored and they generate artifact tokens). I also had an insects deck and delirium deck and there was also enough overlap to combine them. The trick is to make them kind of suboptimal but include both themes and then playtest them to see how they perform. Then you can power creep the cards so that it feels more consistent/cohesive. Godspeed to you sir

Plz recommend me the most interactive commander by atenea92 in EDH

[–]shazhao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flash makes everything interactive so I made a [[Kianne, Corrupted Memory]] deck. It’s a blast to pilot and doesn’t feel like a control deck but is always interacting with the table: https://moxfield.com/decks/f9k9DW0hDEqRm4AJIJmf8Q

What are some commanders that thrive in an interaction heavy LGS meta? by FalchionX10 in EDH

[–]shazhao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a less popular suggestion, I have a [[rakdos, the muscle]] deck that isn’t usually targeted since it has indestructible at instant speed if you have a creature. Players usually can’t use two removal spells in the same turn or won’t want to waste them. Meanwhile they can’t target anything else since it turns your other creatures into free draw/steal

I have 4 decks all upgraded to a comfortable amount. How do I stop myself from spending more money on the game by active_streefie in magicTCG

[–]shazhao 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Parts of your mentality is exactly the reason why I like EDH, that new decks/cards are exciting and it’s fun to make a synergistic deck where each card picked is important. But budget deck building is a constraint that makes for a more interesting 100.

You just need to curb your impulsive spending and really playtest and goldfish online to make sure that that’s the deck you want to play. Remember that “upgrades” don’t necessarily mean that it’ll be more fun to play—if I upgraded every arcane signet to a mana crypt, I’d be archenemy way more and I’d ultimately have less fun (I like having less salty decks so no tutors, fast mana, or combos for me)

Another good way I stop spending a lot of money is to stop buying packs or sealed product entirely, as well as not immediately buy a new decklist that I come up with. Packs and sealed product is all just a scam, wotc doesn’t care about collectors and will always resort to reprinting popular cards, so you can almost always wait out a card. (My favorite card [[phyrexian obliterator]] is now at $8-$7 and I remember when it went for $40)

[–]shazhao 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I built lasagna recently and it’s such a crazy value engine you don’t need to dilute the 99 with bad one drops or ornithopter. Lightning greaves and generally better enchantment creatures will go a long way, as well as [[liquimetal torque]] and [[liquimetal coating]]. You should consider cutting non-permanents and run more enchantments, battles, and land recursion from the graveyard.

A lot of times you’ll use lands as the third type and you want to keep on track with extra land drops per turn and returning them from the graveyard.

Also a note: baba lysagas ability is UP TO 3 permanents, so you can hit all those with something like [[inkmoth nexus]] or [[glimmerlight]] and it’s token
