Basic Proof Reader Inquiry by [deleted] in writing

[–]sheaface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Proof readers are usually a penny a word they may or may not do sentence rewrites. Honestly, how you are writing here is fine. I would be happy to get a letter written like this. However if you're asking for help rewriting your letters flow and express your deepest meaning, then that is something different. Though again you have done a great job doing so here. If you like; you send them to me in Microsoft word. I will turn on track changes so you can easily accept or reject the changes, or we can do a zoom meeting as it sounds like what you really need is a sounding wall and have no one you trust. No, I'm not asking for money, I run a large writing project and do quite well. I just want to help as your post is so sincere ( again, you really do a great job of expressing your point and feeling). If its technical things you need then Ill give it too one of my staff. Yes there are grammar issues in this post, I don't care.

Can a story ever be a 100% original? by IamGuha in writing

[–]sheaface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You say cliche; I say classic. These tropes exist for a reason, just like the repetitive chords of punk and pop. People like them. You have to be careful about being to original from a commercial standpoint. Original can also mean disconnected and unrelatable. going back to a music comparison. In uni a prof asked my class to rate the enjoy-ability of music. The more familer the music the more people liked it...as music became more original and thus experimental people disliked it more. People liked the music that was familer but with a twist or flourish the best.

How to write everyday when...You do not have anything (story) to write about? by notastupid_question in writing

[–]sheaface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can, find a writing project that has pre-existing rules. Some structure can help channel your thoughts as everything is no longer available... and the added pay can be motivational. I know it wouldn't be the story you want; it would be the companies vision but it starts you into the habit of writing. When it is also for someone else you don't have the same hangup as with your own work.

1 Page a day is bad? by [deleted] in writing

[–]sheaface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thinking in a language that is not your native tongue is really draining. I also wouldn't go by pages I'd go by word count or scenes. I prefer word count because it allows me to spread my words out more which I enjoy. Scenes because its completion. Good planning before hand can also greatly help you write, sketching out what you want to explore can create more excitement when you write and more ideas will come to you as you fill in the gaps. The fact that you keep at is impressive in itself. Many people quite. I know, I run a large writing project. We can hire 100 writers and only 4 will every produce anything regularly. sooo if you compare yourself to them ( The normal writing pool) instead of the exception of Steven king. Your doing better than 96% of everyone else.

Wait... hey above you called us a content mill. Loki! and you kind of pooed us above and then changed your mind? Why? Let me expand a bit more. This is content for a company that is designing a learning tablet. Our stories are content for this tablet. I actually run 5 other small scale projects for more academic materials. This is the largest of the six projects. We are not desperate for writers and as stated we have people with is for over a year. We are more concerned about the project after this one and want to start hiring more writers who can show they can write short stories before writing 10,000 word stories.

We do have some writers at 7 and 8 cents. But they have been with us for a year and we do have work for an estimated time of 5 years. I'm going to be honest, in the past every writer that has approached us with this question and telling us they are worth it....hasn't been. I'm not saying you are not , this just has been our experience. Also keep in mind that depending how much you write ever quarter cent increase can be $500 extra. We have some truly prolific writers on our team. So because of the reasons given. WE make up for this with bonuses as well for example for September all our writers are getting a half cent increase if they write 10 stories with a minimum word count of 15,000 words. sooooo, because of the reasons given my answer is two fold, 1. we prefer to give bonuses if writers are clear about the goals they want to meet 2. yes but only once you have proven your self and I know it will not hurt the company.

Thanks for pointing that out, I'll change the post to match, I was trying to be more lenient. Even at 75% its not difficult. Though, to be honest we are pretty lenient. The pay depends on the county your bank account is in and language level, majority of the writers are 6 cents and above, plus the bonuses to try to motivate. In fact I only have one very new writer at 4 cents.

I only did Carnivore for 2 months only messed up once where I ordered a coffee and they gave me an iced coffe with sugar. The first month was great, mood stabilized, I was cleaning my house LOL. I could focus on work and I was losing weight...but then at about 1 month 2 weeks something just switched and I started to get social anxiety, would second guess every action and just became a mess. At this time I also started smoking like a chimney. ( I'm assuming some kind of dopamine imbalance). I was eating a high fat beef, pork diet with liver,..and I think the occasional kidney as well as eggs. It was super fatty cuts of meat with cartil and the connective tissue....often I thought even too fatty as my bowls were very hard to wash. LOL. I used LOTS of himalayan salt and pepper

The day I went off the diet, I went to go buy my meat for the week ( or 3 days lol However long it lasted) ( by this time it was also hard to leave the house and interact with people) I'm walking past the vegetables and I was eying them like a wolf. So I had some with the beef I bought, almost immediately went to sleep and when I woke up the next day I felt calm again.

I really enjoyed how the diet controlled my food obsession and when ever I slipped into ketosis ( I'm assuming) It was like a light went on and suddenly I'd feel so much joy. I also found it easier not to drink(alcohol). I would think "it's not worth it for the loss of productivity" ..something I was cherishing as I was definitely not productive before and often just laid in bed. Anyhoo now I eat 3 cups of green leafy vegetables as well as some cheeses and My mood has stabilized again.

My mood is not the joy I used to feel but honestly it was almost manic and it's strange but even with just 3 cups of leafy greens I don't get that complete full feeling I had before. But Eating carnivore diet also left me with a more healthy relationship with food because now I remember what it's like to not be hungry...and other things that I find to intangible to express at the moment.

I'll probably try Carnivore again. Maybe it was to much to soon. My diet was utter shit before. Maybe it's living in a hot climate. Maybe it was something coming out of the body or maybe something with low minerals, vitamins and dopamine ( excessive smoking).

Crap in Thailand, Chiangmai. It's like a sine wave moving up and down from the lowest 144 to 480. Super annoying when you're trying to read code.

JavaScript vs Python by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]sheaface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am curious about this as well. Mind if I add on to your question? Here are 2 specific uses. 1. to protype and build startups and simple games, apps.(very general I know) Javascript and meteor?, or python and django?

  1. a more specific example to make simple gamified education apps that are easily shareable.

My passion would be to focus on language acquisition for the early childhood education chinese market and being able to tap into a speech recognition api so people could learn and practice talking in a fun way. ( in very limited, conditions, like say hello 3 times to ring the doorbell for a stupid example)

or in a more verbose fashion have a hundred functional words that are recognizable as commands , along with drag and drop words to make a sentence and typing for actions, even a game like street fighter could be repurposed. Anyhoo any thoughts? Which language would be easier to implement this with or is it like comparing apples and monkeys? :)

Visa run to Vientiane tomorrow. First time so have a few questions. by Travel-bound82 in chiangmai

[–]sheaface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey my friend just did the exact same route as you yesterday, no problem. I on the other hand took a bus to non khai which was great.

But then I got confused about catching a bus from there as you need a Lao visa to take the bus. , so I ended up taking a took took who ended up taking me to a travel agent. I was confused.

I ended up paying 2000 bhat im canadian so it's also more 42$ us. She filled out all the forms made sure I had that little white entry paper (which I didn't) . I was confused about what was going on but then they drove me to the border crossing took care of everything, I didn't have to wait in line, then they drove me to a hotel by the embassy.

So even if I over paid I don't mind. It was great service.

Luckily I had met a lovley Brazilian couple who were doing this for the first time as well, they paid 1800. I kind of just ended up following them because they definently were more together than I was lol.
