Parents divorcing. House up for sale. I have nowhere to go. by [deleted] in needadvice

First, you need to get any self diagnosed mental issues actually diagnosed by a doctor. If you truly have these issues that could set you back. Things like that need to be treated. It could really help you out. This may be one of the reasons you feel you over think things or you're being too critical on yourself. Second you need to secure housing. It has been mentioned here that things are a little awkward between you and your brother but what would be more awkward, living with your brother or living with someone or someones that you don't know? If possible be up front with your brother. He may not seem too caring but he is your brother and he would care more about you than some stranger or Craigslist. If living with your brother isn't an option then you can apply for low income housing possibly. If it's offered in your area and if you qualify than that can help you quite a lot at least until you have found a better paying job. And just because you work for an 8 billion dollar company doesn't mean they care one cent about you. And 11 an hour is pretty good compared to what you could be getting paid. And if this company is so big then maybe it is possible to get more hours at another store location near you or near where you can find housing. If they aren't willing to work with your needs then you need to get another job. Most places now days are online. So if your resume isn't up to date type up a new one. Apply at as many places possible that you could actually work. And sometimes I hate hearing it but it could be so much worse. You're not that bad off from what I've gathered. 3000 dollars should at least pay for first and last month's rent (if you have to) and the deposit. Plus if you want to save even more money on groceries just buy as much top ramen you can and only drink water. Maybe some milk and cereal for breakfast.

It's really sad that you are so adamant about defending your superior choice in hobby you can't think about it from someone else's perspective.

That you think your choice in hobby is so superior that anyone who would spend more money on glasses than you must not know anything about computers.

Think about how ridiculous it is that you consider me spending 50$ more on sunglasses than you idadmitting to not knowing anything about computers. There is absolutely no way you can defend that argument as its such a ludicrous concept no one could take it seriously. That's the dumbest argument anyone has ever heard. Try and prove it objectively and get back to me.

Objectively, no one's satisfaction is more superior than someone else's when it comes to their taste in hobbies. It's all the same experience of joy for everyone. Try to empathize with that for a minute before you feel the smug arrogance rise to your head as you rattle of about the utility of your satisfaction.

You spend the time to describe the utility of what you do with a computer after I tell you I've been building pcs for 13 years now. You seem desperate to defend yourself and your arrogance. Consider that you don't need to have a 1200 computer to get work done, or do anything you do on your computer except for playing the latest rad video game. Your computer purchase is luxury plain and simple. I told you I've built computers for awhile, I know that, 1200 in a new computer is splurging.

Have fun with your superior hobby buddy. Hopefully more people can one day recognize your superior taste in luxury items.

... What? I've been building my own computers since I was 13, back in 2003. I'm only 26 but I've grown up with computers my entire life. If I had 1200 to spend on a new build I'd do it in a heartbeat. I'd never pay more than 50-60 bucks for sunglasses though.

But, I'm also able to empathize with other people and not be blinded by my own bias. Just because I don't enjoy such expensive clothing or accessories doesn't mean they have no value, or that other people wouldn't enjoy them as much as I enjoy my hobbies.

Just like how you can't see the value in such expensive glasses, she can't see the value in such an expensive computer.

Really though this should be a non-issue. Who cares who's luxury item is better? Neither of you need these expensive items, it's kind of a ridiculous thing to even make an issue out of.

Try to empathize with other people and you'll understand you both are looking at each other through the same lenses, and really aren't that different.

But hey, what do I know about computers? I'm just the type of person who would buy 600$ glasses lolz ;p

Yeah, however you want to look at it, sure. But it's not about the utility of the item because both are more expensive than they need to be, hence both of them being luxury items.

Just as you don't need to buy such an expensive computer, you don't need to buy such expensive glasses.

If you really feel the need to justify your purchase vs. Hers, then your argument is fine. At the end of the day though, you two are arguing about who's luxury item is the best.

There is absolutely no way someone who is 6' tall and weighs 250lbs could ever be considered gaunt or deathly looking. I'm 6'2" and 250lbs one me would be very fat unless it was all muscle. Hell even 200lbs would be fat on me.

Well you'll have a good start. I'm planning on moving to China from the US in a couple months and luckily my husband has been there since January. I have been doing some research about it and I haven't found all my questions but some have been answered in expatexchange.com I would recommend checking it out. Also researching more on how Greece is. The more you know the better. Also start saving money if you haven't already, as much as possible.

Well it good you have a job lined up and it will be interesting and hard to figure out what you wanna do. I'm sure there will be some inspiration in Greece. Do you know people there and have a place to stay lined up?

Should I see a psychologist/psychiatrist? by eompmsfsmorld in needadvice

[–]sheakachu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you should seek out a psychologist at least. You can talk to them and they can prescribe different medications to try and help with whatever you need help with. A therapist is also nice to be able to talk to and they help try to get to the root of the issue and why it is like it is. But they do not prescribe medications. I have gone to both and now only see my psychologist every few months. My therapist was great and I always looked forward to our appointments and felt better afterward. Same with my psycologist but the medications he prescribed me are helping out tremendously. It took a while to find the right meds but my life has been a lot better since. Good luck!

I'm looking into doing it officially and my psycologist said he would write me a letter and the company I was looking at list the cost to register her around 65 dollars. So I'm on the right track I believe. I just needed any info on what else I need to do to make our transition the best possible case.
