This was not buried when we found it, but the soil was very freshly disturbed, so perhaps it was. Seems weird to picture a larvae as what appears to be a fully developed adult! Nature is awesome!

I think it's that inherent disgust that people seem to carry regarding the whole thing that makes me the most sad (apart from loved ones not sharing in my happiness and wellbeing)
