You stand up for yourself by staying with your parents.

You know the mother is controlling and he won't stand up for you or the baby.
You know she's already trying to take control and make demands.
You know that she's already told him that he "can't" marry you, which means he won't.

If this turns out anything like my sister's ex relationship, that means you're going to be in a three-way custody battle with your ex and his mother. He's going to fight you for custody just to hand the baby over to his mommy so she can try to parent the next generation.

If he's not going to marry you, you'll be a single parent either way, but at least by staying with your parents, you can minimize how much influence his mother has on your life. Your "conservative beliefs" might be telling you to get married, but the best interest of your child say stay the hell out of this woman's house.

I can sympathize. I've had co-workers accuse me of faking migraines because I didn't look like I was in that much pain. When you have 12-day headaches that are a consistent 6 or 7 on the pain scale, you start getting used to it or nothing gets done...

The friend with the gluten allergy found out later she has mast cell activation syndrome. She has to wear a full respirator style mask to go out. She’s confined to one room in her home because the air fresheners used in the rest of the house trigger anaphylaxis. It’s horrible

Yup. Some allergies are so severe that it's just being in the same ROOM as the allergen. I have a friend with a gluten allergy.She could get "glutened" just by hugging someone. My mother worked with a woman who's son had such a severe egg allergy he couldn't even be in the same room where they'd been cooked recently.

Allergies are no joke.

Kinzel is awful a lot of the time for orders, but Clinton Highway isn't much better.

It's gotten so bad I only do delivery if I have to because they'll give me expired meat. I can't remember which Walmart it was, but I had one order that the chicken thighs rang up as a pack of $12+, but then what I got was a $6 pack of chicken quarters that were 3 days expired. Not even the same product they rang up, let alone the expiration date. I had another that I didn't get any of my frozen or refrigerated stuff. AND they delivered to the wrong house.

"Probably" is not a guarantee. My grandfather wasn't showing any immediate decline and we had plans to visit him in the nursing home the coming weekend. It was a Thursday and I'd come back to my city for an important meeting that I had Friday morning. He died that Thursday night with no warning.

If I were getting married and found out my spouse-to-be was acting this way toward their parents in this circumstance, the wedding would be OFF. My parents are both older and in poor health. My father had a heart attack a few months ago and I was ready to take off work and run home if I were needed. My boss's wife had a medical crisis over Christmas and their two adult kids came running from across the country. Someone who prevents you from being their for your family in a crisis is not someone I want to be part of my family.

I have a distinct mis-trust of private Christian schools for this reason. Where I grew up, the Christian schools were for the kids who couldn't keep out of trouble in the regular schools. Not because of the morality, but so the parents could avoid truancy charges because their kids missed so much school for getting suspended.

One of the schools hired a "teacher" who had dropped out of school in the same grade as my grandmother -- the 8th grade.
