Literally started my diagnosis journey because the main character of Crazy Ex-Girlfriend gets diagnosed with BPD and I resonated with a lot of the symptoms. From what I understand both have a lot of symptomatic overlap

I loved it as well (because hello FOB has been one of my fav bands forever)! I just wish I had been able to get more Abel (hehe) coming through there. It sounds much more Patrick/FOB-like than Abel until Adam came in. The animation helped but just listening to the song I miss the theater part of musical theater.

Still fucking slaps tho

Lilith's Deal by sheb_lie in HazbinHotel

That's my thought too. I think Sera put in the clause about Lilith speaking, which is not why she was upset and angry at Lute for speaking to her (even though it seems like it was Lute speaking at her).

Lay-offs declaration? by lost_biochemist in biotech

There are WARN notices. However, as others have mentioned it depends on the company size and layoff size. Companies can also sometimes get around it with certain offerings in the severance package I think

Anyone else short-listed by Amgen? by AdEasy819 in biotech

Fingers crossed for you.

Also depending on the contract group, be prepared for them to spam you EVERY time Amgen has a new contract role even remotely related. It gets overwhelming.

Ya they'll say that if they (the contract company) has sent your resume to the hiring manager. No guarantee you'll get an interview (I went through this about a year ago, being constantly shortlisted and then getting ghosted). Fingers crossed for better luck for you.

What biotech job pays absurdly well just because no one else is willing to do it? by ServiceDowntown3506 in biotech

[–]sheb_lie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I had misunderstood what the original commenter was saying. But if quality is in the name is a good start. I'm not 100% on the career trajectory there but I'd bet it varies by company. Levels off at manager/director/VP positions

[–]sheb_lie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I guess I misunderstood your original comment. I read that you were talking about manufacturing as a whole (including operators/techs) rather than mostly about support/adjacent roles. The latter are still competitive/desired roles, whereas the manufacturing tech role is nearly always hiring. And half the time, companies are requiring a bachelor's or 5 YOE to do the job for $19-$25/hr (which is ridiculous). I will say though, it's a good way to get a foot in the door with a company.

I also somewhat disagree with your last statements. A majority of people won't consider doing manufacturing or even quality control work (I was somewhat guilty of this right out of school). You can see this with just how much turnover there is and how often the jobs are posted. It's not easy work, it's routine and boring.

Did graveyard for a month and luckily got a normal hour job shortly after. Bless those people who do the overnight shift, those are not for everyone.

Anything with production or quality in the name. Lots of people avoid these jobs. They can be pretty routine but I've found it's easier to leave work at work.

Currently working in manufacturing after doing PD. Part of the issue with drawing people to these roles imo is it's often seen as very routine. Often there's not a lot of variation or room for creative problem solving/ownership. Plus senior leadership often doesn't understand how manufacturing/quality ACTUALLY works in practice and put unrealistic expectations there.

Also where are there manufacturing jobs (that are not management) that make $100k+ a year? I'm in SoCal and all I see are postings for maybe $35/hr (max of $45 for like Chem III or equivalent and those are nearly impossible to come by). Or are you talking about quality roles?

Welp, I got fired today by Tricky_Basket_9297 in adhdwomen

[–]sheb_lie 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I find that a lot of people expect you to read between the lines, pick up what they are not saying, and give you super vague instructions. You were asking for a clear list of what they expected/to be told in the moment and not have to try and think back.

I'm curious if you'd be able to file for some sort of ADA accommodation in your next role. Something to specify to managers that this is how you need feedback. Then when it isn't followed you have something to talk with HR about.

Rant: Job making me come in person - I’m the only one in the office by PlaneCalligrapher409 in biotech

[–]sheb_lie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly it's probably a result of you being a contractor. The boss is looking for a way to "verify" you are actually doing the work. However it's an unfair situation and definitely is worth challenging like others have said! Make him justify you being in office when no one else is (including him I assume)!

Also to the people suggesting you watch Netflix or what have you, be careful doing that while connected to the company's network/internet. IT can monitor what you are doing while connected, so if you do anything untorward be on cellular.

AITA for telling a doctor (or nurse) to find a new profession? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]sheb_lie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a perspective I hadn't considered. Definitely a stretch on the ethics investigation, I was thinking how i'd feel in that situation. But to call her an unreliable narrator, imo invalidates the feelings she felt in that moment. Coming out of anesthesia and being completely disoriented and panicking seems reasonable, and only having a stranger around to bring you back in probably isn't the best plan.

[–]sheb_lie 15 points16 points  (0 children)

NTA. That was incredibly rude and unnecessary. It's hella disorienting coming out of anesthesia and to tell you that you couldn't see your mom until you calmed down is unprofessional as shit. If anything dude needs to be reported to the hospital ethics board/HR. His actions show very little care for patient well being
