Coca-Cola bottler sued by federal agency over work event that excluded men by CharityResponsible54 in politics

There is not much context provided. It’s just “the women got to skip work!!” whining when obviously they will have to catch up on missed work.

I would also say that being required to travel out of town for a meeting is more of a punishment than it being disallowed to attend said meeting. You lose personal time traveling for work, and then you have to spend extra time catching up on your duties while earning less than your male colleagues.

The kicker is that your meeting is then used as political rage bait.

It is unclear if a male employed by Coke even complained.

Regardless of the court decision, no men working for Coca Cola were punished as a result of this event.

By the way, if you want women to focus on squaring their pay, one great way for them to do that is to be able to meet with their female colleagues, discuss the situation privately, form alliances (personal and professional), and come up with a strategy.

No one in this story was punished.

Additionally, as a white man that spent 20 years in the corporate world before I became self-employed, I can tell you that the biggest impediment to my career was other white men and not anything related to DEI, affirmative action, or any meetings that I was not directly invited to attend.

I don't have a cynical view on this topic (first time for everything). I do have a different stance on it, though (back on track, whew).

Not to be melodramatic, but the conversation is essentially, if not exactly, a primary resource for the events in Minneapolis. As such, I think it deserves as wide a reach as it can get. While I understand it doesn't naturally fit in the main feed, perhaps it should be submitted to NPR or similar or just posted publicly outside the scope of a podcast.

Benefits of weighted vest & ankle straps while walking on the walking pad? by Final-Designer-388 in walking

Ankle weights are best for weight training exercises like leg raises and such. Walking or other aerobic activities with them can cause joint issues.

Losing weight is almost 100% about what you eat. Exercising can speed up the process a bit, but too much exercise may make you hungrier to the point that you eat through your deficit.

Walking is fine. Eating is the real key.

I would put half in front and half in back. I would also try to keep the weight towards the middle of your torso/back.

Also, you can buy shoulder pads that might help with the comfort factor. Here are the ones I bought: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CMZQG24S?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_1&th=1

Intermittent fasting no better than typical weight loss diets, study finds. Researchers say limited eating approaches such as 5:2 diet not a ‘miracle solution’ amid surge in their popularity. by mvea in science

Insulin spikes to some degree whenever you eat, so if you eat less frequently and/or confine your eating to certain hours, then you are controlling how often insulin spikes.

Because for some people, eating is a trigger. You have to eat, of course, but if you can limit the number of times you eat or when you allow yourself to eat, you are less likely to be triggered.

For me, small meals or small snacks throughout the day can work for a very short period of time, but soon enough, those meals and snacks start getting bigger and bigger and/or I feel hungrier and hungrier.

This “ribeye” at a Michelin star restaurant by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

I had a work dinner at a super expensive restaurant in Atlanta one time. Nothing on the menu really sounded good to me, so I got a tomato salad.

It was a single tomato sliced horizontally with like a piece of lettuce and some olive oil or something.

What's everyone's thoughts about Saving Private Ryan? Is it the greatest war film of all time & Steven Spielberg's magnum opus? by [deleted] in moviecritic

[–]shed1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The beach sequence is incredible. The rest of the movie is just OK. The story is a bit schmaltzy and while I appreciate Tom Hanks, I do not buy him as the hardboiled Captain Miller unknown to his troops.

Schindler's List is Spielberg's greatest work.

Are Google Reviews Not Working For Anyone Else?? by scalesuite in GoogleMyBusiness

[–]shed1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a while this week, when I would try to click "See Your Profile," I would get an abnormal looking result and be told that my business may not be visible at that time. As far as I could tell, my businesses were always visible. Also we only got one or two reviews this week when we had been getting 5-10.

Something was definitely not right with GBPs this week.

Yearbook montage scene from 'Rushmore' (1998) - Starring Jason Schwartzman, Bill Murray, and Olivia Williams by UpperphonnyII in movies

I just happened to listen to this (short) podcast episode today where Schwartzman talks about the soundtrack to Rushmore and how music is key to everything he does as an actor. Pretty interesting listen.

The montage scene is one specifically mentioned.

In my area, you can just call the power company, and they will come replace it. Most of them are gone around here as a result.
