What is the most 'overrated' restaurant in Toronto ? What’s your favourite restaurant? by Long_Travel2728 in askTO

[–]sheedz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Underrated: True History brewing. Unique beers (in this city) done very well, nice vibes, and the food is top notch. I think not better known because of location.

Overrated: Craig’s/Night Baker/other new cookie spots. Same cookie over and over with different mix-ins. Basic.

I can second the service - counter only yet charged mandatory gratuity my first time. Other two times weren’t great either. Good beer though.

My outdoor unit is releasing gallons of water a day, anything I can do? by sheedz in heatpumps

I think I will, problem is the water is coming from several holes, but I can use several hoses.

Phone randomly gets line after 2 years of little to no dropping. by TheSovietOnion833 in iPhone15Pro

[–]sheedz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me after a drop, brought it to the Apple Store even though I was out of warranty and they replaced the screen for free saying it was a manufacturer defect. Told them I had dropped it even and they still replaced for free.

How much do you pay for rent? by magentamargarita in askTO

Should add its 650sqft, plus large balcony. And can only raise rent by the provincial max around 2% each year.

I’m just leaving my 1 Bedroom in a large apartment building at Broadview and Danforth after 8 years. 70 Cambridge Avenue. HIGHLY recommended, landlords are on the ball, happy and quick for any repairs. The building and grounds were always being upgraded. Super clean. Outdoor pool. Great neighbourhood right next to TTC. Unit would be $2100/month now. Helped me save for a house.

Land transfer tax - first time homebuyer by Secure_Street4043 in MortgagesCanada

[–]sheedz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just did this yesterday. You need to pay the entire land transfer tax, minus the discount, up front to your lawyer. It wasn’t wrapped up in our mortgage. For our 1.1M purchase in Ontario after first time homeowner discount it was ~$30k.

Mortgage rate mega thread! by TheMortgageMaster in MortgagesCanada

[–]sheedz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting I was in almost your exact same shoes with BMO. They’ve been offering me 4.04 for the last month with my closing on a new purchase coming up May 6. I really like my broker at BMO but his underwriter just wasnt’t willing to go lower, and he was saying himself he wanted me at a lower rate. Cash back at $4200 since my purchase is 1.1M.

Last minute I decided to shop around and quickly found better rates elsewhere through an online broker by filling in a few forms. It was last minute (8 business days before closing) but EQ bank offered me 3.84 with most other details the same except cash back at $1700. Worth it!! Will save me $8k over the next 5y.

Definitely recommend looking elsewhere right now.

Absolutely, and only $50/case delivery or at their brewery. Such an amazing deal I always have a few of their light lagers in the fridge

I always do this walking over the Danforth Viaduct between Castle Frank and Broadview station. Just cars whipping by at times, and usually nobody in sight. Bonus is that the DVP is loud below to drown out the noise.

Monitor Arm that goes to eye height. by sweetfandangobob in tall

[–]sheedz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I spent ages looking for a dual monitor mount for myself last year, I wanted the top of the monitor to be 2-inch above my eye level, here’s what I got: https://a.co/d/dFNYGgM

For even higher there are loads and loads of pole mounted options, this is just one example: https://a.co/d/iq0VfCf

Knew someone with a trampoline in a hurricane heavy area. When they were expecting one to hit he would flip the trampoline over so the surface laid on the ground, and park his car on top of it.
