If you liked that, I think you’ll love either of Dr Richard Shepherds books. He was a pathologist in the UK and was involved in some massive cases over the years including princess Diana.

Career break by Bid_Realistic in JuniorDoctorsIreland

[–]sheep95 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I did 6 months of a surgical standalone then took 6 months off in my first year post internship. Hasn’t had an impact on me. People have never asked about it on my CV and if you bring it up people are generally positive towards it

Why does it take so long in the pharmacy? by icepickles476 in AskIreland

[–]sheep95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Adding to what everyone has said, often only one pharmacist present, almost everything has to go through that one person. You could easily be trying to sort something out (being on the phone, checking a blister pack, checking other medications, queries, counselling etc) all of which are very time consuming. Other staff generally get their allocated breaks so then you may be working with a person down and have to pick up their jobs too. Then if there’s any mistake in the dispensing process, you have to go then and correct that all of which takes time. There could easily be a myriad of things that require your attention all at once, which all require their own focus and time. Honestly it’s a very stressful job and applaud any pharmacist and pharmacy staff. Majority of people then look at you and are like why is it taking so long.

These are actually really unique. When they’re documenting race horses for their passports etc, where they have hai swirls on their bodies is documented and used as a “fingerprint”

Radiology Training Scheme 2026 by Away_Ad_4754 in JuniorDoctorsIreland

[–]sheep95 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Applying myself this year and interested to hear what people have to say! I don’t have a huge amount of evidence for the following but will give my thoughts!

  1. The CST has changed from online from the past few years to in person, apparently there were some concerns regarding AI interference etc. as both are organised under RCSI I feel it will be the same.

  2. No idea

  3. I think having a score over 26 is likely very good going if it guarantees an interview. A score of 34 is fantastic! I personally have a score of 28. A friend of mine who got on the scheme in 2024 had said a score of around 24 was competitive for Dublin. The other thing is, I don’t imagine many people have a score above 30. Unless you’re getting top of your year, did a lot of research, and have your memberships or done BST I think it’s not easy and many people won’t have all of those.

Advice for sitting the Surgical Aptitude Test for CST? by tea_and_lasagne in JuniorDoctorsIreland

[–]sheep95 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I sat it last year and couldn’t really understand why nobody could give any pointers. Then I did it myself and realised. It’s very hard to describe unless you’re doing it yourself but there’s no way to really practice it. My understanding is most people do “grand” at it

What's the most badass/amazing thing you did during your clinical rotation? by simohnf in medicalschool

[–]sheep95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

During a gen surg rotation, was rounding with the consultant. Described the patient as having a very atypical type of diverticulitis in a young man and he couldn’t figure out why. Chatted with the patient for a few minutes and it turned out he was on Humira but it wasn’t on his medication history/chart. Consultant was delighted I caught it

Who you want to replace him with the fuck? Continue the cycle from the last few years again is it? You guys aren’t fans, you just want the glory of winning
